How much would the conversion cost? I have an E5 and quickly realized the advantages of having a faster retrieve. Ballpark figure? J.

Putting together a "panic box"....suggestions?
Roadrunner head with the willow leaf blade and a Powerbait 2-3" grub attached in white. Will catch all kinds of fish pretty much anywhere. Throw on some JJ's or Megastrike and you'll stick em. J.

Lake Norman, NC
Here is what I found last night online. It is from the Fish On Guide Service. Lake Norman - "The largest freshwater lake situated solely in NC, Lake Norman is composed of 32,510 surface acres and 52 miles of shoreline. Lake Norman began filling in 1963 upon completion of the Cowans Ford Dam. It is 34 miles long with a maximum depth of 130 ft. The northern limit for Lake Norman is the Lookout Shoals dam which forms Lookout Shoals Lake. Due to it's size, Lake Norman has a high retention time. Although water flow is significant during normal conditions, it still takes months for water to travel through the lake. However, Lake Norman supports large populations of forage and game fish species. The primary forage is threadfin shad, blue back herring, gizzard shad and pan fishes. Game fishes include striper, largemouth bass, spotted bass, blue catfish, flathead catfish, channel catfish, crappie, white perch, bream and other pan fish. Lake Norman is known for producing quantity catches of these fishes although trophy catfish, stripers, and bass are not uncommon." J.

11 # LMB
Catchy title indeed. I had my fingers quivering over my Google maps waiting for that location! HaHa! Sometimes being more stubborn that an ornery old bass pays off. J.

11 # LMB
11# as in an 11 pound bass? If I saw an 11 lb bass anywhere I would park my rear and stay as long as she was there.....and then blind cast for a few hours after she left ;D I would think you could make her mad enough to bite but who knows. Different baits, different angles, different retrieves. Experimentation = success

I surrender to the soft plastic
I too have reaped the rewards from Flukes this year. Wouldn't leave home without them now.

Fishing in the wind
Like you I look for protected areas on the lake with less wind and fish until it dies down. Most times I just grit my teeth and keep going. In the spring and summer I just think "well, at least it's not freezing and windy".

If it ain't banged up....
Yup. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! HaHa. Great looking fish. I'm thinking of getting a Kayak myself. Actually have the catalog in front of me now.

Question regarding fish jumping ???
The ones in our lake sound like a shotgun going off when they smack back down on the surface. Scares the you know what outta me before daylight....and I'm expecting it, haha.

How's your season been so far?
Not too bad here in N.C. Best day we brought in 8 but no size to them. They seem to be biting funny for me this year. Someone caught a 10lb 7oz out of the lake we fish most of the year. He or she might have a different outlook on this years fishing.

Had a run in with the Game Warden today
I would get the stamp. Better safe than sorry I say. Plus you can just smile as they drive off knowing you "passed all inspections".

Pond Fishing
I love to fish ponds with my 7 yr old when he feels like going. It's much more difficult to pack up and go home when you're way out on a lake somewhere. ;D This way we catch a couple of fish, play on the playground, then drive home.

sickest topwater hit i've seen
WOW
-
hooked em, cant catch em
If you are using a topwater bait are you waiting to feel the fish before setting the hook? You'll want to make sure your bait is in there good before you give him the business end of your bait. This might help with keeping 'em on. Also you might want to try adding a stinger hook to the swimbait. I'm not a pro with swimbaits but I'm sure some of the other guys here can help. Anything to increase your odds of getting them to the boat.

Searching for active bass
Yeah, if you want to practice and get good with a certain bait I'd leave the others at home. It's tempting to tie something else on, I can definitely relate to that. I've wanted to ONLY bring jigs on the boat this year to learn them but haven't gotten the courage to do so.

A bass fishing surprise
I've had one eat a jig once.

whats your favorite technique?
Shakey head or deep cranking shallow water.
