  1. I'de definitely use one. I Just always go with the 6:4:1. 6:4:1 still seems fast to me when I crank it back to the boat. But yeah. a 7:1:1 may help you get in an extra 20-30 flips in. And in a tourney, could mean 10lbs.
  2. I will almost guarantee you there are a lot of bass in there. Most likely a lot of small ones and some 2-4 lbers. Maybe a 6-7lber or 2 also. Slow roll brush hogs in there. Try Zoom Ultra Vibe worms also.
  3. I'll sell it to you if you like. Just send me a PM.
  4. So I am moving away from my 2 rod and reel setup to a more technique specific setup. I just picked up a Revo STX with Mojo Bass 7'0 MH/F with braid for heavy cover jigs, plastics, and worms. Next on the list is a Revo STX with Mojo Bass 7'0 M/F with Floroclear line for lighter plastics and worms. Also a Revo S with Mojo Bass 7'0 MH/F for crank baits and spinner baits. I know I should have a different setup for cranking and spinners but they are similar enough to where I can do both and I quite frankly dont crank or throw spinners all that often so it works financially and keeps gear down to a minimum. I will also be picking up a spinning setup for pond/shore/finesse fishing. Probably a Revo S on a Veritas rod. I have retired my Johnny Morris Signature series on a Team All-Star 6'6 MH/F with mono for top waters but I am not sure what to do with my other setup. I have a Rick Clunn reel on a 6'6 MH'F Carbomax and I'm not sure what to use it for. Any Ideas? I am tempted to try to put it up on Craigslist for a hundo...
  5. Similar situation but I like to have everything I need in my Veritas bag. Here's my ride.
  6. I would defiantly have a cranking only rod and reel setup if I did it more. I just dont do it much. But like I said, things always change lol. My eventual goal I think will be a 6 rod/reel setup. 5 casting and 1 spinning. Heavy cover / plastics / top water / cranking / spinner bait / shore and finesse. I think I'll be set. I think... I would like to get into a little more cranking but my jigs and plastics produce and I have a TON of confidence in them. Right along with the top water bite when it's on.
  7. Fishing weightless watermelon trick worms in Cypress roots has been deadly for me. I dont drop shot them, but I cast in, let them fall, then give them 3 or 4 pulls back towards me.
  8. Well, Rooster, I see it this way, I only have about 6 spinner baits and don't use them very often. Maybe a little during spring time. Same goes with crank baits. I just done seem to use them that often. Every once in awhile. I mainly throw plastics at cover or shore or fish with jigs. Spinner bait and crank baits I use when I am not having much luck so I don't see the need for spending another $250/$300 on a spinner bait/cranking specific combo. See how this works? LOL! But then again, I am forever looking to expand my knowledge and attempts at trying new technics so who knows what the future holds. Man am I a mess.
  9. Lucky man. At least you got out. I am in Vermont until the end of summer. We still have a solid 3 weeks before it's fishing time. Meanwhile my brand spanking new un used Revo S on 7' Mojo Bass sits in the corner mocking me. I can't wait to get back to Florida!
  10. So I guess I have a touch of OCD... Or maybe a certifiable case, and as far as fishing goes, I like to have things as organized as possible as well as having the most minimal amount of gear and tackle as possible to make me feel as if I am being as proficient as possible. I cannot seem to have more than 5 setups. - Heavy cover w/braid on a 7' MH on BC - Worms, plastics, weightless and weighted with a Co Polymer on a 7' MH on BC - Top water w/ 12lb Mono on a 6'6 MH on BC - Spinner baits and crank baits w/ 12lb Mono on a 7' MH on BC - Weightless plastics for shore fishing and finesse on a 6'6 M on a spinning Then on to tackle. Oh boy. Another crisis. I cannot seem to find a way to efficiently organize my soft plastics. I feel it is a fine line between the ease of accessing a specific bait and having them organized. I just purchased a new system that hopefully with make things easier for me. I'll let you know how it goes. I've tried boxes, Zip Locks with each bait type, and I've tried throwing everything I use in a messy pile in my tackle bag. Nothing has hit my happy spot. Hopefully this new box/file system with ease my pain finally. It's crazy. Maybe I have problems but there is something about Bass fishing that really gets my OCD raging! I love every bit of it and I love being as efficient as possible. Anybody else have similar issues or feel the same way? Like they "need to find a way to be as efficient as possible from organization, to accessibility, to rod and reel setups"?
  11. Just bought a new setup today for jigs and soft plastics. Went with a Revo S on a Mojo Bass 7" MH with some P-Line Floroclear. I think I may pick up another exact setup specifically for fishing heavy cover with creatures and jigs with braid. I'm in the midst of a gear change. I'm loving the compact design and lightness of the Revo! We will see what comes of the future. Johnny Morris Signature Series with Team All Star 6'0 rod retiring to top water and my Rick Clunn reel with 6'0 Carbomax retiring to cranking. Next on the list is an Orra SX spinning reel with Veritas 6'6 M for finesse, pond, and shore fishing. In Vermont right now... MELT ICE!!!!!
  12. Probably around 7 years old. Lake across the street from me.
  13. I have done some flipping in the past but it's in lilly pads, down trees, ect. Never anything like this. I always say, "dammit, I know there's fish in there but it;s too thick!" then go find another area or fish the very edges of the weeds. Thanks for all the feedback so far.
  14. I guess I'll give it a shot. It's unbelievably thick so we'll see!
  15. I didnt buy anything but I think I may be getting another setup soon. Revo S with a Mojo Bass 6'6 MH as my new worm/jig/flipping rod, and a Revo spinning reel with a Veritas 6'6 M rod for finesse fishing in ponds and from shore, retire my Johnny Morris Elite with 6'0 Team All Star rod as my top water go to, and retire my Rick Clunn reel with Shimano Carbomax for crankbaits and spinner baits. I'll be all set!
  16. My lake gets completely saturated with weed in mid summer. The area is full of bass tho. The spot is large but its only around 2-4 feet deep and its covered from top to bottom with these thick weeds. Is it too heavy to flip? I have never tried. I just go else where. It's the kinda thing where if you cast in, the lure wont do much because of how thick it is. You would basically be dragging it through weeds. What are your thoughts?
  17. Spring and early summer.
  18. I always gravitate toward structure, grass, holes, ect. Any sort of imperfection in the water, I get on it. I RARELY ever crank open water or finesse in deeper water. Only time I do any deeper water finesse fishing is when I know what is on the bottom. Sand bar or something. Thats Florida fishing in general.
  19. June bug is my dark water go to!
  20. I released my 11 1/2 lber and felt great about it. It would be a shame to kill a bass that large for your own vanity. It overcame unbelievable obstacles in its life to get that big.
  21. I can fish anything with my 6'2 MH with Floroclear line. Worms, jigs, top water, cranks, flipping, weightless plastics, ect. I just slap a swivel clasp on there and change baits on the fly.
  22. I will be back in Vermont for the summer then I'm moving home to Florida. I live right on Lake Arrowhead and fish it a few times a week. I'd be more than happy to meet up and do some fishing. I will be back to Vermont in a month.
  23. For a full day on the water, I bring some beers, water, soda, LOTS of beef jerky, apple or 2, some chips, and some Nature Valley Fruit And Nut Bars. I love to just kinda snack and drink throughout the day.
