  1. You read my mind! I already have a rod setup with a bluegill color jig and a trailer and another rod with a chartruse/firetiger spinner bait with a chartuse trailer. The let it drop thing is a good idea. These fish are most likely waiting at this drop off for whatever comes down that creek to make it's way into open water. This is where I caught my 10lber exept he was caught where the run off meets the lake right next to the tree line in some bushes. He was caught on the jig as well. He was FAT so they must have a great food source in this area.
  2. There is an area on my lake with flowing runoff water that runs through a wooded tree line, then abruptly onto a shin to knee deep sand bar then drops very fast with an unknown depth. It' deep tho. Water is black in the drop off. I see lotsa activity in this area and not sure what bait to use and which way to present it. I was thinking a Chartuse spinner bait while standing on the sand bar and casting into the deep then retreiving toward the sand bar. The drop off is in a horseshoe shape. What would you do?
  3. yay

    lol.
  4. I crank soft plastics back to the boat with 12lb Trilene XL. With jigs in heavy cover I use PowerPro 30lb. I have a seperate rod and reel setup with braid for any bottom fishing.
  5. 75 steps. Give or take a few.

Decent fish there man. They will get bigger the more you fish.
  7. Yep. I got my All Star rod the other day that was supposed to be made in america but said china on the but of the handle. : It doesnt bother me one bit tho. They make the best stuff lol.
  8. Ya the head and gill plates were bigger than my head lol. Here is a pic with my buddy holding it.
  9. It was 10 pounds. The lake isnt any secret. just for bass it is.
  10. Nope. 8-) looks a lot lake lake irma, or the last lake on the conway chain... I'm going with the conway chain. you should fish the wednesday night mini tornaments Nope. 8-)
  11. I bet the Avaid is a better "bassin" rod but the Crucial is a nice rod period. I am latley leaning toward specie specific rods instead if kinda "all around" rods. Shimano seems to make more rods that please the masses and if I am correct, the Avid is a Bass rod. I may be wrong tho.
  12. Just paired up my new Johnny Morris Elite on one but wanted to hear what people say about it. I looked at the Mojo Bass and liked it but the reel wouldnt stay snug on the reel seat so I bought the Team All Star rod. 6'6 mh f. Anybody use them? How ya like it for the price?
  13. hahaha. Awesome.
  14. I will try olive oil and garlic salt. Just a few drops in each bag should do the trick!
  15. This is why I stick with 6's for my ratios. Not too slow and not too fast. Great for pretty much everything. Just choose line and rod type for each type of fishing.
  16. I bought a nice little soft plastics binder to better organize my 20 different types of baits. Only issue is that the baits stick to the new dry bags and get bunched up. Is there a houshold oil or scent spray I could use to lightly coat the inside of all the bags to stop the sticking and lube em up like in the original bags they came in?
  17. I fish with friends and alone. When alone, you just do what you want and not have to worry about pleasing anyone or moving the boat for others for snagged lures. With friends, they must be "fishing literate". If they dont know what they are doing it really gets annoying and quite frankly dangerous. I fish in a 2 person canoe so if I take someone who doesnt know what they are doing, within an hour I want to throw them to the gators.
  18. I'm a "whatever I like" guy. I do fall for one brand over another but basically what works for me. And for lack of better terms... I prefer "Brand X" lol
  19. I just bought some watermelon red flake space monkeys. I usually KILL em on the super brush hod but I have a feelin the monkey will take the bh's place with those ragin body parts lol. Congrats brudda!
  20. Nice stripper! Do I taste grilled stripe? 8-)
  21. I caught a 4lber awhile back with a blind eye. It was really bad lookin. Then just the other day I caught a 1/2lb peeter and managed to hookset right through his skull into his eyeball. Nothing I could do but rip that hook out and ket em go. I would bet that he'll be juust fine. These guys learn to live with about any problem. I have heard about the "passing" of hooks aswell. Amazing.
  22. All in good fun hahaha. Im so proud man! I was out there screamin and yellin. There was 2 guys on a $40,000 bass boat talkin trash about me in my canoe and when I pulled that in I held it over my head like a trophy and was screamin "YEEEEAAAH! WHAT!!! THATS WHAT IM TALKIN ABOUT!!!" lol They loaded up and pulled out after that hahaha
  23. The eel looks nasty! I will pick up a bag of those. Other than that, I'll stick with the cheaper Zoom hogs and 10' Ana's. I caught a bass on the big anaconda the other day that was smaller than the worm lol. I said "What were you thinkin you little sh**" lol. They love em. big and small.
