HELP!!!
Biggest single mistake in fishing most bedding bass is being detected by the bass. Most bass are close to shore in shallow water and very spookish. Make sure you can spot the beds from a distance and approch very slow and quiet. Fishing from the shore you may want to try casting from 10-20 feet up on the bank instead of right on the waters edge. Anything that can break up you silouette aganst the sky is goood too. Try fishing right infront of tree or kneeling next to a bush if avaliable. If fishing from a boat aproaching slow and silent is best and keeping a small silouette by kneeling or sitting is key. Also casting considerbly past the beds and bringing your bait slowly back to it is a good tactic. Trying a little tact and camoflage when stalking these bedding bass will really pay off

BEARS VS SEAHAWKS
As long as the bears take the field without #8 at the helm theres no chance for any team in the NFL comming close to beating them. With that said if Rex decides to play catch with seattles recivers on Sunday its going to be tough. Its supposed to be cold and maybe snow on sunday this sounds like monsters of the midway weather. At home with the weather and hopefully #8 throwing to the right team I see the BEARS 31-17 over the Birds.

Do you pitch/flip right or left handed?
Left handed reel is a great tool to use here if you use your right hand for casting. Takes a bit getting used to but eliminates any time/consistancy lost switching hands.

Just one minute
I guess it all breaks down to "DELIVERY". I would of been a epic comedian, funniest jokes in the world but no delivery. Oh well guess I'll just try my aspirations of being a pro-fisherman.

Who's better
Just a thought I had.... Do you think If a top tourney pro like KVD, ISH, Or Clunn could switch over and become a top "Hawg Hunter"? These are guys who week after week fish diffrent water, diffrent conditions, and diffrent obstacles. These guys are masters of adjust their game and finding patterns to catch fish. I belive the switch would not be hard for top tourney minds to switch and become top "Hawg Hunters". Inversley could a top "Hawg Hunter" make the switch if they decided to become a top tourney angler? Its alot tougher I belive. While I know very little about fishing for trophy fish being from IL and its true ther is very little coverage of this aspect of fishing I see it being a bit more specialized. Your confined to climates where big fish grow and your stalking a specific target. Just some thoughts and wanted to hear what both sides think. I also agree that being top in any discipline is very tough and if one day I could come close to possesing the skills and knowlege of either a top tourny or top trophy angler would be a true acomplishment.

Shimano Calais 4x8 DC
I've never used one but the first chance i get $600 thats sitting around not doing anything I plan to. Here's my whole take on the thing. If you have the money WHY NOT! Technology is our friend, progress is good. Sure you can catch fish with a cheaper reel but this reel seems to give you a slight edge. How could reducing baclashes and improving casting distance be a bad thing???? I realize everyone cant afford $600 reels and $400 rods and $50,000 boats but if you are lucky enough to be able to afford these why not take the little help these gadgets give you.

SO tired of this...why can't people follow rules?!
In my experinces the DNR varies vastly from state to state. In certian states the DNR's financial resources are greater and officers are more abundant. Most states dont have large budgets fo thier DNR and this makes it hard for these officers to effectivly patrol. Most of your resources are focused on major areas also. In your case V Missouri DNR probably is pretty focused on the SW part of the state and the Missouri & Mississippi waterways. Getting a DNR agent to bust someone on a local pond is going to be pretty much a lost cause. While its upsetting all you can really do is make sure your conservation minded yourself. Follow your state laws and be a cosiderate outdoorsman. Most people that break these rules know thier doing it and dont care. Your not going to change them and alot of times getting directly involved leads to unwanted cofrontation. Just do your part and let the these ingorant people do what they do. Also make sure you get you licence every year, since this is a huge part of most DNR's revenue.

Some cold weather trout.
11lb trout is not really that big or that uncommon. I fish for steelhead in the southern lake michigan region in the winter and commonly catch fish in the teens.

Who Carries RedWorms? (starting a worm farm)
My mother who is a avid gardener buys worm eggs over the internet for her garden. Buying eggs is alot easier than ordering live worms. The eggs come in alot higher quanity, the're easier to ship, and the're stable. She always spreads them in the winter and by summer the're all over. She has ordered three or four diffrent kinds before and know for a fact she has ordered red worms for her compost. Try looking for worm eggs for sale on the Web.

UFC 66....Liddell vs Ortiz II
The UFC announced tha both Mirko Cro Crop and Quinton Rampage Jackson will be on the fight card for UFC 67 feb. 3 Guess we'll all get to see what these guys are all about and if they can make it in the octagon. Obviouslly the UFC is setting up a Rampage/Liddle rematch and a Cro Cop/Sylvia Fight. I cant wait for both of these. Jackson has already beeat Liddle early in his career with the fight being stopped by liddel's corner. We'll see how far Rampage has come from then. Cro Cop/Sylvia will be a battle. One you will have to be crazy to say you pick a winner. Cro Cop is extremeley agressive and has ridiculous kickboxing skill but sylvia is a mountian of a man and it seems his skills improve with every fight. Sylvia has neturalized almost all his opponets recently with the exception of orlofski's luck knee-bar. Both these fights should be on cards by fall of this year I would presume. Just my two cents and 2007 is going to be a great year for MMA

messed up bass
Whats with the killing of the otters beavers and such. Why should we be killing indigenous animals to improve any fishing? If you can catch teh fish in this pond try a diffrent approach or move on to another pond. Come on is killing an animal for the sole purpose of making your chances of catching a fish from a pond greater really worth it? Otter or no otter the fish need to eat in the pond you just need to figure out a way to catch them. Thats a big part of this sport is getting fish to bite in a wide variety of situations. Fishing in a stocked barrel is fun but after a while it loses it charm. Just my 2 cents.

rookie question-water warming trends
Allot of variables to consider when answering this. In a closed environment with no other variables affecting it the stained water will heat faster. Although rocks, the lake bottom will heat up and hold heat better than water. Clear water would allow these items to absorbe more heat than stained water. But in general the more particulates you have in the water the faster it will heat.

Manmade Reef Materials?
Easy way to make sure your crib lands upright when placed is to simply take a milk jug with the cap on so its water tight and wire it to the top of whatever your sinking. I do this when I sink trees and it works like a charm. Gets the trees to sink standing up and they rest perfctly.

IGFA Will Consider Mac Weakley's Bass
Just a question... If this guy Weakley is such a stand up guy and supposedly caught this WR bass and had it weighed/photoed/videoed but then felt bad about foul hooking it and released it why is he applying for the record with the IGFA??? I've heard a lot of praise for him being so conservation minded for releasing it and being such an honest guy for admitting he foul hooked it and if all of this is on the level then great. But when exactly does he deserve the consideration for catching the WR bass? Am I missing something? Foul hooked non-certified scale, no measurements and no examination by a biologist. Shouldn't these three things pretty much DQ this catch? If not I would think some underhanded person could just catch a large bass, picture it, stuff it full of lead weight, weigh it, video it and then release it only to collect the WR. I have nothing against Weakley and think it was a great catch regardless but when it comes to the WR there have to be strict rules and regulations that need to be followed in order to keep the records righteous.

22lbs 7oz reported from Dixon Ca
The fact of the matter is he may have done the right thing by releasing it but by doing this he pretty much forefits the right to lay any claim to catching the WR. Sorry pal :'(. And especially if he foul hooked it. Great a big fish now catch it the right way and make sure you take all the precautions to get it certified if you want the fame. Other than that great job hooking a fish that looks really big. I guess we'll have to see how this plays out but in my mind Its already over. Yesterdays news.

Women treated different.
In my opinion its never smart to teach a woman to do three things: 1. How to play Golf 2. How to play Cards 3. How to Fish I know Im probably gonna get alot of s##t for posting this but here's my justification. I think that all men and women in realationships need time apart. These three things for me are what I do in my seperate "guy time". I don't know very many girls that take thier partners shoe shopping and out to lunch with thier girlfriends. Having seprate activities which you dont share makes you appreciate the time and things you do share more. Im not sexist and dont really have any thing against women fishing but I choose to not fish or share fishing with them.

Bass Fishing: An Olympic Sport?
Webster Definition of sport. 1. Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively. A particular form of this activity. 2. An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively. 3. An active pastime; recreation. So by definition Fishing is a sport. Just because its not as physically demanding as other sports doesn't exclude it. Baseball is not a 1/10th as physical as Hockey but no one would argue it isnt a sport. Fishing at a competive level takes a very elevated skill set and and understanding while it may not require you to be in peak physical condition. Fishing definitly could be considered for an olympic sport. Atleast in fishing there could be a clear winner unlike that crap sport figure skating. Imagine being in the classic and outweighing your opponets by #20's but the judges give the win to them because thier artistic casting was better.

Need help now!!!
Just a thought. Mycommunitty had to build a huge earthen berm arond a park for some reason. Im not sure why but I know instead of taking it all out of the village budget they struck a deal with a construction company. They let the company dump extra clay rocks and dirt there from a road project as long as they constructed the berm. This both benifitted the construction company who needed a place to put the debris and my community that needed a berm. Dont know all the details how this was exactly set up but hope this may help.

What did I do wrong?
Lot of things could of happened. It could of been your drag which you should check before you fish any reel. It most likely was damage to the line. This used to happen alot to me I'd drag my bait through structure banging it around and not even thinking I'd tear up the line. Then first time a fish would hit it "snap" bye bye fish bye bye bait. Anytime my bait goes through structre a couple of times im check my line near the bait and give it a tug. This way if it breaks off in my hand no lost fish and no lost bait. Another thing you might want to consider is the knot your using. Making sure your tying a good knot properly will keep breakoffs down. As far as toothy fish theres not much you can do except fishing with a wire leader in theses waters.
