  1. Some would say it doesn't matter what color your Senko-type baits are, that it's the wiggle that entices the bass to strike and the color has very little to do with it. At the same time, other people swear by certain colors and have poor results with others. I'm inclined to think that color in fact does matter, just the same as with any other lure. Oddly enough, some of my go-to jig and soft plastic colors like black/blue, junebug, and green pumpkin have produced very few Senko fish for me, while watermelon/black flake, watermelon/red flake, watermelon/cream laminate, and white work like gangbusters in my local waters.
  2. That's gotta be Troll 2, with an honorable mention to Wishmaster 2. There was even an award winning documentary about Troll 2 being the worst movie ever made, called Best Worst Movie. BTW: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&rt=nc&nma=true&item=180638429870&si=NT88mcqQQ3Vwaj6czKXpB81Mcy4%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT#ht_4608wt_1097 Troll 2:
  3. Costa got back to me saying they would honor the warranty no matter where I bought them. The 4 retailers I emailed got back to me saying that they've never had any issues with customers complaining that Costa refused their warranty claim because of where they bought them. I ended up going with the silver mirrored, copper lenses. My understanding is that the silver mirror allows a little more light through than the green mirror, making them a little more suitable for low light/variable light conditions. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&rt=nc&nma=true&item=180638429870&si=NT88mcqQQ3Vwaj6czKXpB81Mcy4%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT#ht_4608wt_1097 http://www.costadelmar.com/SeeOutThere/Technology/PureLensPerfection/
  4. I made a similar thread a few days ago. I ended up buying a pair of Man O Wars with silver mirrored, copper 580 lenses. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1299910188
  5. LOL. We're pretty close already. ;D
  6. Never had bleaching problems with sebae anemones, on of the things I like about sebaes is that they don 't wander around the tank like long tentacles do ( reason why the Elegance coral ate one of them ). Anthias didn 't grow much, you practically purchase them full grown size, they are beautiful but can be very picky with what they eat, at first the only thing they ate was brine shrimp, once you establish the feeding pattern and they get used to be fed live foods you can begin by training them to eat frozen foods and even flake foods ( by dropping them near the powerhead output ). Flame angels aren 't agreesive towards other fish except for other species of dwarf angel fish ( coral beauty, bicolor, potter 's ) and can be a vey important part of keeping the tank free of filamentous algae that surgeons ( with the exception of yellow eye and chevron ) don 't eat, turbo snails complete the job of keeping the tank green/brown algae free. The only species I don 't recomend for keeping are those orchid shrimps, yeah they are beautiful but they are specialized feeders, they only eat starfish and even though there are cheap starfish you can feed them ( chocolate chip ) now that I look back and see it with other eyes it 's not very ecofriendly feeding them even cheap starfish, I have to admit the behavior is fascinating, starfish wander a lot but as soon as you drop the starfish in the tank the orchid shrimp race to it, then they walk on it and beleive it or not, the starfish doesn 't move at all and doesn 't move anymore, the shrmp pick on it until they eat it completely ( something that takes several days ), it 's like the shrimp anesthesize the starfish. You're right about the Sebaes not moving. Once they find a spot they like, they own it. Sebaes are my favorite anemones for SPS tanks because of that, even though they're not spectacular looking like a nice Carpet anemone or RBTA. Once they settle down, you can build the corals in your tank around them without worrying about the anemone stinging them. I much prefer the look of the Rose BTA, but I lost count of the hard corals that they stung and killed after they moved overnight. That's a good job to get those Anthias to eat flake food. I was never able to get any of mine to eat dry foods. They're my favorite fish to watch, but they're so finicky with what they eat! Mine lived off the Cyclops Eeze that was in the home made frozen slurry that I fed the filter feeding corals 2x a day. How is the Coral trade down in Mexico? Can you get your hands on the bright colored Acanthastrea Lordhowensis or Ricordia Yuma for a decent price? I'm not looking to buy, I'm just curious. I used to propagate them for sale. They can go for $50-100 bucks a polyp around here or online, if they're really bright colored.
  7. I'll check it out with it's on DVD. Have you seen District 9, Dark City, or Moon? They're three of my favorite sci-fi movies. ***, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Children Of Men are all recent sci-fi films to check out if you're looking for some good sci-fi. I'm not big on movie critics, but I sometimes use this site to find new movies on Netflix. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/battle-los-angeles/
  8. Cheap + abrasion resistant = CXX ;D ;D 6# CXX is my favorite leader material on spinning gear. It ties a really strong line-to-leader knot and the knot is very small to boot.
  9. Good to know. Will they fit on any other frogs? Spros, Phat Frogs?
  10. 1/2 oz. gold shiner, double willow spinnerbait.
  11. Congrats! Baitcasting tackle is a lot of fun once you get used to it. The thumb trick works pretty well on some lines, tough lines like copoly especially, but it hardly works on braid and I've broken fluorocarbon line on the spool with it before. I would recommend doing it as little as possible with fluoro, or not at all.
  12. I have never handled the two rods you're interested in, but based on the baits you mentioned, I think you're looking for more of a multi-purpose setup. A T-Rigged Fat Ika requires a little more stoutness than dropshotted Roboworms or light shakeyheads. I was debating about getting a DX702SF or DX703SF this offseason. It will be used mainly for the exact same baits you mentioned, although I tend to T-Rig my Senkos instead of rigging them wacky. I had my mind made up that I was going to get the DX702SF after all the great reviews I read about them being fantastic dropshot/shakey rods. I still have not handled a DX702SF, but I have handled the Champion 702S, and it feels like a finesse, 1/16-1/8 oz shakeyhead/dropshot or light walleye jigging rod to me. I don't think the Champ 702S would be very effective at hooking bass with a 4/0 EWG rigged Fat Ika or Senko. I personally don't like fishing those baits on a ML rod. I ended up going with the DX703SF after I handled one in a local store, and I'm really glad I did. To me it feels like the perfect multi-purpose spinning rod for a variety of soft plastics. I think a 3 power will handle all the baits you mentioned very well, Senkos, Ikas, 1/8-1/4 oz shakeyhead and dropshots, mojo rigs, etc. The DX703SF has a nice soft tip but has plenty of backbone for hooking fish thru a fat plastic bait like an Ika or large Fluke. Take it for what it's worth, but I hope this helps.
  13. Thanks, RiverRat!! I'll send you a PM.
  14. Or you can sharpen the hook.
  15. Does anybody know how much the retail mark-up is on Yamamoto plastics? They're always going on sale somewhere or another for $3.50-4.00 a pack.
  16. I'm with you. That elongated hook is one of the main reasons why they are so effective. Cavitrons don't need stingers, IMO. They seem to hook just about every fish that touches them.
  17. From the looks of this thread, there is no such thing as "The Best." I use Megastrike E-2 and some custom football head jigs, but they all catch fish.
  18. Strikezone makes at least some of the Gander Mountain brand plastics for them. The Gander beaver, senko, and chunk for sure are made by Strikeforce, and I believe they are just dusted with salt, and not impregnated with salt or scent. http://www.strikezonelure.com/plastics/chunks.htm
  19. Reef Central is the place to go for any and all saltwater aquarium info on the web. This is a link to the Nano Reef forum for info specifically on reef tanks under 30G. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=75
  20. That's extremely crowded, but I bet it looked pretty cool. Did your Sebae anemones ever brown up? A white, gray, or yellow anemone is severely bleached. I had a Sebae for 4 years and it started out stark white with purple tips, but eventually turned an iridescent, coffee-with-cream brown and grew to 20" before I sold it. How big were the Flame Angel and Anthias after two years? Was the Flame aggressive and territorial?
  21. I've only used the 4.5", have you tried the 6" weightless? Hows the action? I haven't tried using them weightless. I don't throw weightless finesse worms very often, usually only in the slop.
  22. Either would be a great choice, but I would recommend a hight speed reel for all worming and jigging.
  23. The top one looks like Gumbo, so that's my pick. The second one is Okeechobee Flame.
  24. 4-6" lizards, Super Flukes, Brush Hogs, 7" Rage Tail Anacondas, or 10" Powerworms.
