  1. LOL! I've had those same thoughts! It'd be almost more fun to play with the sonar!
  2. I'm considering adding brakes for a few reasons. I'm probably gonna be pulling the bassboat with a GMC Acadia. The Acadia has a towing capacity of 5200 lbs which is plenty, but it's not gonna tow it like my old F150 did. I'd just like the extra braking power if I needed it in an emergency. After reading your post on the cost of it, it might be cost prohibitive. We'll see, I don't know if ti's what I really wanna do. I'm just doing a little due diligence.
  3. Thinking about adding brakes to my trailer. I know that the EZ-Loader salesman will tell me all about them, but I wanted to get some opinions from you all. Is there a company that makes a better braking system for this single axle trailer? Also, whats a ballpark cost?
  4. RW, Today it was -17 (yes, that's MINUS 17) at 0700 when I left for work today. School's on a 2 hour delay, NOT canceled. There is about 24 inches of snow on the ground. Can you say ROADTRIP?!!!
  5. WOW. That sound makes even a corvette nut like me go wild. You should see my 4yr old son's eyes when he watches that vid. Priceless.

I have four kids. It tears my heart out to hear another parent forced to deal with this kind of tragedy. We will be praying for the family.
  7. After reading your original post Rooster, a thought (or two) came to mind. What are you planning to do to control the speed at which the spinner blade turns? Is this what you mean by tweaking the blades? It seems to me that there's a point at which the spinner blade turns faster than the bail and actually "overtwists" the line. In theory, the perfect setup would be a spinner that twists line at the same rate that the bail is coiling line. Could it be that some spinner blades are turning in the correct direction already but are pitched to spin at too high an rpm? Could it be that the cheaper in-line spinners that are notorious for line twist are pitched in the backward direction and magnifying line twist? I think it will be a challenge controlling the speed due to all the different blade and lure sizes. Maybe there's an optimal pitch that all blades could be manufactured to that will provide the correct spin direction AND speed. Will that pitch provide a good pulse in the water that attracts fish? Maybe there's a "natural frequency" for spinner blades. Interesting topic. Good luck.
  8. There's a product called "Silicroil" that will probably loosen it if it's just rusted or stuck. It comes in an orange can. You should be able to google it.
  9. Looks like I better not forget my stuff for heavy cover!
  10. Hank Parker just pulled up a smallmouth that was covered in black spots. He was fishing with his son somewhere. Can't remember where. Show was on last weekend.
  11. WOO-HOO!! The warden has granted me furlough!! I think it helped that I turned 40 this week. I think its a birthday present from her. Maybe she DOESN'T hate me after all! (J/K... she's actually pretty cool) We will be arriving Friday nite and leaving on Wednesday. Looking forward to meeting this league of extraordinary gentlemen!
  12. My stuff's headed to Mike at DVT.
  13. A lot of things to talk about here. Whats up with the pockets in the main channel in the upper right-hand corner?
  14. If they're pros, some of them probably got the poles GIVEN to them. I agree with you on the bad marketing comment, that's $4000 for two anchors!
  15. It will seem more like a slow current. If you are out on the main lake while they are pulling a lot of water, you might would drift toward the dam at about 2 mph. That's what it would be like in the area around the roadtrip sight where the lake is wide, and as long as you don't get to close to the dam. On our rivers up here bass stack up in the dead water areas near the main channel current. I've already ID'd a few spots where I think that might happen in the rare event that they're pulling water. Has this been your experience?
  16. When they're releasing water, and there IS current, how much is there? Is it a faster "river" style current or more of a "tidal" type slow current?
  17. Does anybody know how much current (if any) we might be seeing in April? As I understand it, current exists only when they're releasing water. So, if they're raising the water level to summer pool, will there be less or no current?

HOOOLY CHEET MON! If I had his money, I'd burn mine! I love my Keurig. I drink one cup a day in the morning, and my kids love the hot chocolate.
  19. Ya see, that's the funny thing about working in a restaurant. You'll never eat at that restaurant again, but you'll eat at other ones knowing they're just as nasty as the one you worked at. It's the same in just about every profession. If you could see the poor quality of "repairs" that are done on aircraft, and the things that get hidden by paint/epoxy/sealant, you'd never fly in a plane either. Ignorance is bliss...or so they say. So THATS why I'm so happy all the time! WOW! I like Taco Bell. It keeps me regular.
  20. Navplanner2 arrived today. I'm literally an hour into the exploration of KY Lake. Wow have I got a lot of questions for you CJ. I'll surely not bombard you with all of them. CTF58, It appears the water level in Navplanner is 357.6 fasl by default. I think thats about 3 ft above winter pool. Winter pool is 354 (fasl) elevation, and rises during April to reach summer pool of 359 (fasl) by May. So the pool will be on the rise while we're there. Oddly enough it MIGHT be pretty close to the actual level for the roadtrip. I'm still looking for a manual adjustment. to be continued...
  21. found this interesting http://fw.ky.gov/kfwis/google/fishing/kentucky_FA.kmz
  22. Cant seem to get google earth to label the bays on KY and Barkley. Might have to try to find that on another site. Noticed on GE that Barkley was muddy for the photo. Interesting to note where the muddy water collects, and where clear water remains.
  23. Wow Rhino, that's pretty cool. Navplanner2 is ordered.
  24. Alright, darn it! I'm ordering Navplanner2 right freakin now! Until it gets here, it's google earth. :'( :'(
