  1. I just saw this earlier this week... a bumper sticker I wish I could have got a picture of... It said " Come a little closer... It'll make my shot easier"
  2. Its an 18' Viper Cobra. Maybe its a bad idea. Thanks Rhino.
  3. is it a dumb idea to put my on-board charger up front in my bow? I think it would be better for weight distribution, and I could utilize a recept that's already on the bow panel. cabling isn't an issue as I will be making my own from #2 stranded copper. any issues that I should be aware of?
  4. I've heard the names Carbontex, Boca, Orange seals.... What are the best bearings and drag washers to upgrade my reels? Reels are: ch50mg's, Revo STX's and BPS JM Elite sig series.
  5. I will probably have all my reels gone through this winter. Who's the reel guru that can clean and lube my reels (and upgrade the bearings and drag washers) . Shimano ch50mg's, Revo STX's, BPS JM elite Sig series'. Is one guy good at all of them, or are there brand specialists? Lastly, whats it cost?
  6. Wow, do you own a bank? Nice. There's a real nice house for sale right next door to me. I bet I can get my neighbor to make you a great deal! (He doesn't know he's moving out yet) ;D
  7. RW, Being the St. Croix guy that you are, I'm a little surprised that you didn't recommend an AVC70MM. Also, who's the guy to send it to to get cleaned and upgraded with all the trick drag washers and bearings, and maybe even supertuned?
  8. Been using a buddy's 50mg awhile and finally sprung for one. I thought I'd throw out the question for all the gurus. What are the best tricks to setting this reel up? I've looked inside and saw the mags, (3 up, 3 down). I intend for this to be used for casting lightweight stuff. Not sure yet if I'll put it on another AVC70MM for light cranks, or use it on an XF rod for plastics. My other reels are REVO STX's, and BPS JM Sig series. They all have dual braking and are relatively easy (for me) to setup. How's the ch50mg gonna be different?
  9. --almost exactly the same for me except I like the Lil john DD better for deep cranks. Throw in Rapala Clackin Rap for real deep. They're heavy and I can cast 'em a mile too.
  10. Go with MK and get more thrust than you think you need. Your batteries will last longer, and you'll have the extra thrust in case of an emergency. You won't be sorry.
  11. The story of my close call... One day about a month and a half ago, I had the bass boat out on a local lake with my wife and three kids. We were pulling the kids around on our "big mable" tube when I looked up and saw what I consider "warning clouds". I told my wife that we needed to get off the water "right now!". The response was "why?? we're having so much fun". The skies were mostly clear except for some altocumulus clouds coming in from the west. (I've attached a pic of what the "warning clouds" looked like that day) I then explained to her that it would probably be storming on the water very soon. So with three upset kids, and an angry wife, I loaded the boat and started down the road for home. Within 30 minutes after getting off the lake, a massive thunderstorm arrived, moving at around 60 mph, bringing heavy lightning and rain and 70 mph straight line winds. That storm also produced an F2 tornado 5 miles north of the lake that we were on less than an hour before. The water is now one of the few places that my wife actually trusts my judgement!
  12. get to shore...fast! or...don the scuba gear and go for a dive.
  13. How far does gluvit go? Will a quart cover the wood in my seatbacks? It's a little expensive. I found it for $38.99/quart.
  14. I want to go deep more often but can't locate structure well enough with my "antique" fish finder. When I DO upgrade to HB SS sonar, I'll be fishing deep structure a lot more often. OH BTW... I too love RichRod in AA! GO IRISH!!
  15. Got two '09 STX's from David P. on this site. Love 'em. I use one with braid on a flipping and pitching rig, and the other with 14# fluoro on a deep crank rig. I'm not unhappy with them at all.
  16. If you can't get the loops out, reverse the line so the loops are next to the spool.
  17. I make a motion to remove the tag line under his name that reads "been posting a long time" and replace it with "motor and wiring GURU"
  18. Wish you were my neighbor Rhino. You'd make some easy money if you wanted to.
  19. :-? what does this have to do with a Yammie SHO? 14 year olds get a lot of brain farts. Hahahahaha just saw the sponsor on the left side of the page and it inspired me to say something Sometimes silence is golden. Not when youre talking about RAM ;D We weren't talking about about RAM's though....... : Where is the duck tape? -gk Being used to keep the chevy together while the RAM is towing it back to the auto shop ;D --AHEM...moderator... curtains please.
  20. Great info Rhino. Having never done it, I don't think I want to try it out for the first time on my bass boat. :-/ I'm quite sure I'd screw something up and spend the rest of the day trying to kick myself in the head. Maybe I'll go next door and see if my neighbor needs and fiber-glassing done on HIS boat... :
  21. I love the idea. simple and effective. But I don't think I can get away with spacers because of the hinged bottoms. It's already difficult to lift the seat bottoms up. I think if I added spacers, they might not work at all. I cleaned out the drain holes. I think I'll carefully add a couple more. Fuel cell is right underneath.
  22. I wonder if that plastic wood is what is used for the seat bottoms (see pic #3 above). The seat bottoms are hinged. I might start storing them in the up position to aid drying as well. Is plastic wood a marine material? Where do you get it? Is it expensive? Although the fiberglassing idea I think would be the best solution, I've never messed with fiberglass before. :-?
  23. usually its from tubing with the kids that gets it really wet. ALWAYS kept in a garage. it just never dries behind there because of the carpeting. more pics.
