  1. Now thats a huge smallie!
  2. This year I caught my biggest smallmouth bass ever, ended up weighing around 4 pounds, 8 ounces. I knew when it jumped out of the water it was a big bass. I was just excited to get it on video and land it! Tried to get some quick footage of weighing it and get her back in the water so she can grow bigger. The lure I caught it on was a Bomber Deep Long A crankbait on the Gold Prism/Black Back/Orange Belly color. Truth be told, I seem to always pick up bigger fish on the bigger lures. Yeah you might not catch as much, but if you're looking for that big one, go with a bigger crankbait. Throughout the whole summer been hitting the bass hard on Berkley Flicker Shad too, great crankbait as well. Here's my video of the big bass
  3. Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely have to try that. I really can't wait to get out fishing this year. I would be out already, but I've been battling chronic sinusitis for the whole winter. I really hope I can knock this cold out so I get get some fishing in!
  4. Well after hours of trying to figure out how to login with my username and password, I just realized I'd try my email instead of my username, dohhh! Luckily it worked! I must say the look of the new site and forums is amazing. Really soothing on the eyes, I really like it! Anyways, getting down to business. Well after years of blasting largemouth bass and smallmouth bass with this bait, I figured I'd release my best fishing lure to the public. Not many use it, you've probably seen it in the fishing store but never thought it would catch much bass. Coming stock out of the box it really doesn't! What lure am I talking about, the "Beetle Spin!" My own idea to modify the lure has turned the Beetle Spin has turned it into one of the best fishing lures for bass, "the best for me." So what does the modification consists of? Well just taking out the old silver tear drop spinner and putting on a gold winner leaf spinner blade. I'm telling you this lure works! For more thorough review of the bait checkout my YouTube video. The stock jig head on the Beetle spin is good for 3-5 feet of water. If you want to go 5-8 feet highly suggest going up to the next size jig head weight. A heavier jig head can make all the difference in the world, depending where the smallies and largemouths are hanging out.
  5. Better get ready for the ride because it's going to get even bumpier. When the government figures out what they are going to do with the 70% of Americans that don't plan on getting degrees let me know! I don't know how they expect people to make a living off minimum wage paying jobs. Outsourcing, technology ruling out jobs, foreigners coming in, no employers wanting to pay for healthcare, etc... What does this mean? Crime rate goes up, time to stock up on ammo and guns! For those of you not paying attention to what's going on, better wake up. Next time you go fishing they might pinpoint you, a fisherman is a good target!
  6. Agree, latest technology allows you to get 60 frames per second on the Flip camcorder for the HatCam. But I bet the i-KAM XTREME will never be wobbly like the HatCam. If the company can just upgrade the camera in the i-KAM XTREME, I think it may succeed. Chances are though, they will never keep up with the latest camcorders for the HatCam. My still vote is the HatCam, has anything found anything else that challenges the HatCam?
  7. Nothing like a Great Lakes Smallie! Hopefully I can hook a 5 pounder this summer, been really close. You'll love it, I've never fished the western part of Michigan, but I'm sure it's not much different then the eastern part. The south has got us on the largemouth, but up here a 3 pound smallie fights better than a 8 pound largemouth any day. And the Muskie, just do some searching on the web and you'll see how big they get. I always say I want to move to a warmer climate, but after I think about how good I got it with fishing, I don't think I'll ever move. I just hope the Asian carp doesn't affect our native species.
  8. Fish caught in Michigan for 2010. Some nice smallies in here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SoB-9jUTjM
  9. I like using the Berkley Powerbait crawdad in the brownish green color. It looks very real and the scent from the lure is just awesome. I would say avoid the Berkley Gulp, haven't had much luck with it.
  10. I either use a deep lip crankbait or a heavy jig head.
  11. Nice bass, looks to be of pretty good size.
  12. They'll work, especially if there's a lot of fish flies and other insects hanging on top of the water. I just wouldn't go too big, get a small sized one.
  13. Whatsup, welcome to the best bass fishing site on the web!
  14. What else is there then sunflower seeds. Easy to munch on and pull out from the bag. I occasionally eat subs on the boat too.
  15. Ok, other than Craigslist, iBoats, and Boat Trader...are there any other boat classifieds to buy boats from? I'm in Michigan, been looking for 16-18 ft fishing boat with windshield and it's harder then hell believe it or not. I see Tracker is having a deal on there boats, a 16 ft with the windshield, 50 Merc, and trailer is $15,900. That's the outdoor price, not bad, but I'm not sure I want to spend that much.
  16. Berkley Powerbait 4" grub
  17. Got some of my brother out on the Detroit river with his friend. They caught some Muskie and Walleye. Hopefully I can get a Muskie this year!
  18. Thanks! Illegal to pinpoint smallies when they are spawning. That's how the DNR are where we are at, so I go after walleye and pike in the spring out on Lake St. Clair. If I catch any smallies, hey oh well, I can't keep a fish from biting my line. :-/
  19. I've been using the Gitzit here and there, but the ones the fish have been hitting on are the pumpkin seed or greenish color Berkley Powerbait. I usually don't like giving out some of my dynamite colors, but what the hell, got to trade secrets here and there.
  20. Well got rid of my plastic Bass Raider Pontoon Boat and stepped it up to a bigger boat. I picked up a used 16 foot smoker craft. Since I got I've been fishing almost everday! I've been gunning for Walleye and pike, but haven't had much luck. Here's some pictures of some big smallmouth I've caught and my girlfriends Pike she caught today. Man from the size of the two smallmouth bass I've caught in the past week, I think the next record smallmouth will be pulled out of Lake St. Clair. I know they are spawning and their size is due to babies, but man they are still very big in length.
  21. I love fishing bloopers, especially Bill Dance ones.
  22. I hate when that happens, one of the most horrible things in life is wet socks, one of the worst feelings in the world.
  23. Cool picture
  24. Sucker punches are big in bar fights, especially if the other guy is little and knows that's his only chance of winning. I got sucker punched once outside of a bar, wasn't read for it at all. I should of been, but I was young and didn't know any better. The smaller guy was definitely ready to fight, I wasn't. That's the main thing, if you're going to fight you better be ready.
