lippin um!!
there isnt anything wrong w/ usin live bait to catch a bass or usin a net. but the purist of the sport of bass fishin, dont do either one.personally i wouldnt kill a deer w/ a gun, only a bow.i may have but i cant ever remember losin a bass by not usin a net.there have been times i thought i would and the rush of finally gettin my hands on that bass was worth not nettin it. i do use a net in tx. cause i want every advantage i can have to quickly get the bass in the boat. but... if i had reservations about puttin my hand in a bass mouth then i would get me a net.

How to get tournament ready skill wise?
rec. bass fishin and tx. fishin have very little in common.local club tx are highly competetive .it is a given that you have have to have profecient skills, you dont have to know how to fish every type of lure but you have to be proficient in the lures you use.fish your strengths and eliminate your weaknesses. start out as a non-boater.the best place is the bfl.more times than not you'll get paired up w/ a decent tx. fisherman.even if you dont catch fish you'll learn more than you ever can on your own.it may take 2or 3 yrs. but after awhile you'll be able to use what you have learned. if you have ever heard in sports that when an athelete moves up to the next level that the biggest difference is the speed of the game, bass tx. fishin is the same way.in every tx. there are guys who can find em and catch em and if you want to be more than an entrant you'll have to do the same.8 hrs fishin seems like a long time but it goes by real quik if your not catchin em. i think the biggest thing ive ever lerned in tx. fishin is to not make the money the object, nor the to compete against the other angler.compete against the bass, they are dumb, predictable ,animals that have to be subjective to you.

Gar, bad for bass?
i do agree that gar and bass live in harmony and it many situations share the same water, but, gar can and do live in waters that bass dont, waters w/ low oxygen levels.thats why at times you'll find numbers of gar in areas that dont harbor much else except other trash fish,i.e. mudfish.

Quality vs Quantity
i fish and old brush pile that over the yrs. has scattered to a 50yd. radius.that most of the times holds fish.i lose at least one crank and if there is fish there more every time i fish it.some cranks no matter how much they cost will catch fish. ive lost $2.00 favorite fish catchin cranks that has made me sick as a dog.several times after not being able to retrive em i was going to dive down and get em.but at 10-12' deep i couldnt do it.i dont know why but i hate losin cranks worse than any other baits, especially if its one of my favorites.personally i dont buy foreign cranks.it doesnt cost them any more to make them as american made baits.(i dont want to get into the pros and cons )but i do buy some custom painted american cranks w/ upgraded hooks and i have lost some in tx.'s that has ruined my day. my take is if your a tx. fisherman fishin for bucks then invest in some hi dollar baits and be willin to lose them .if your a just fishin and work hard for your dollar and care about if its worth losin a $15.00+ bait then invest in some good name american cranks and be happy.

bobber stop?
ffi,ive never used one that would be so far up to go into the eye. i use them on t-rig and flippin if i want the bullet weight to stay up against the head of the plastic. i also use them as a quik c-rig stop, but then its only 2-3' up the line.when flippin i want the weight to be tight against the bait but i want it to seperate on hookset so the fish doesnt have any leverage on the hook.ive had the same one on my flippin stick all yr. and it still holds good.but im usin it on 50# braid .ive never used the yarn deal.you can get the rubbr stops at wally world 5 for a buck+.i dont like pegs i feel it pinches the line and will weaken it and could lose a big fish or a money fish.

bobber stop?
i guess it depends on what your using it for. the ones i use are a small football shaped piece of rubber that has a small hole thru it w/ a double up wire createing a loop in the wire.you run your line thru the loop and then pull the tag end thru the hole in the rubber stop which threads it onto your line.you then put on your weight and hook and place the stop where you want the weight to stop at. for t-rig you can sinch it right down on top of weight ,for c-rig you can slide it up line .i use them instead of pegging my weight.

devil's horse man
top water charlie is infamous in n. fla. for his prowess catching bass on a devils horse.he just won a extreme sr. tx. on orange lake w/ a very good tx. angler named dusty mcdivitt.they had 29+ w/o exemptions(orange is a slot lake).he modifies his d.h..he made the d.h. famous on rodmans. i dont think you'll get him on a forum

Gambler Little Otter
great flippin bait!there are times and conditions that the small profile is more appealing to a bass than a larger one. i use a 3/0 wg hook and enough weight to get thru whatever cover im fishin.in fla. its a hard bait to beat.i also use the gambler b.b. cricket as a small profile bait.

Am I right??? Humidity=Terrible fishing
you might be talking about high barometric pressure.humidity has no affect on bass behavior.
-
Little confused with some Bass Biology
the key ingredient in a bass behavior is metabolism.bass optomize their needs. as the water temps rise bass needs increase.as they expend more energy they need to eat more.thats why in really hot weather they dont move much or they'll have to eat more.as the water temps start to cool their metabolism decreases which causes them to become more active which causes them to eat more.instictively, in the winter the forage becomes scaress and they know they need to store as much food to carry them through.also, being cold blooded creatures their metabolism slows way down, again causing them to become very inactive, almost hibernative in nature untill water temps start to increase again as the days get longer and forage starts its cycle all over again.
-
Fall bass behavior
they have probably moved from the point your fishin. your going to have to move w/ them.as stated they will start to move toward coves and flats toward the bank.you should start to see some surface activity, bait moving or even fish swirling the surface.reaction baits ,traps, cranks, minnow baits(rapalas),even spinnerbaits should call in some fish.if you can locate them again the senko will work also ,but for the most part they have moved. yes, they are relating to a seasonal pattern change.where you live its probably accelerated and not as gradual as say here in fla.your window of opportunity is probably going to be short lived.in the fall the bass will bunch up and feed heavily for the winter.what changes more so than the bass is the forage they feed on.when the bait dies off then the bass pull back again.other than the spring the fall window is usually the best bite of the yr.
-
Please explain water temperature to me!
your confusing sudden temp. changes w/ seasonal changes.sudden temp changes can trigger a bite or shut it down.in the summer a change down of a few degrees can trigger a bite. in the winter a sudden change of a few deg. can shut a bite down. what your experienceing is neither 80-90 deg. days followed by 60 deg. nites has very little if any affect on bass behavior.the encroachment of a seasonal change which the water temps. are the hottest right now can and does cause bass to become lethargic.it has to do more w/ the days getting shorter than temp.but it is the first signs of a seasonal pattern that will lead to a short window of good fishin.the bait fish will start to congregate and smaller bass will start to school which will draw the bigger fish out of their summer haunts. the last part of aug. into the first part of sept. is the slowest bite of the yr.(except where it freezes) temp. gauges measure surface temp.and going from direct sunlight into shaded area can skew the reading.

Fishing pads. Advice needed.
speed worm buzzed across top .or swam thru. trick worm w/split shot 12'' above hook reel up to root base and when you bump base skake it several times, let it rest then reel up to next pad base. my latest pad catcher is a 3/16 oz. swimmin jig w/ ultra vibe speed craw trailer.dont set the hook when you feel the bite just keep reelin and the fish will hook himself.

Crankbaits on fast action rods
with your set up i would deffinitely use mono, to compensate for the lack of forgiveness of the rod.with any crankbait the hooks are the key ingredient.there are many opinions on which brand hook is best, but be sure you are useing the best trebles you can use.i have experimented w/ numerous set ups ,which i think in crank bait fishin is critical, but there is still a element that is like oil and water, trebles and bass dont mix.you are going to lose fish.yes technique helps some, the right set up helps some but your going to experience more lost fish w/ cranks than any other presentation. i think thats why i like crankin so much.i get more excited when i get a fish on a crank cause i know if i mess up one little bit i stand the chance of losin that fish, but when it all goes as planned and the fish stays hooked ,the thrill is greater than catchin a fish on a single hook bait.
