  1. My PSA blemished lower came in the other day and it looks great. I've had two people look at and they can't believe they are calling it a blemished lower. I've since ordered a complete upper to match it. Processing and shipping times are a bit slow for uppers so it will probably be a couple weeks before it gets here but I can't wait to get it together and go to the range.
  2. I'm mastering or at attempting to get better at jig fishing this year. Only way to do so is spend time on the water and imo that is a good thing.
  3. I really like the shakey head worm. Started using it 2 years ago and it really increased my numbers but not many bigger fish. I generally like to t-rig a lizard but I guess thats for another topic
  4. 27 pounds today to win the Alabama Bass Trail Tourney out of McFarland. I helped a guy (not in the tourney) put his smallmouth back in the water after he weighed them. One was almost 5 pounds, the other was almost 4. Really nice fish. He said he caught 10, but kept the big ones to weigh. He was using a crank bait in about 10 ft of water he said.
  5. I am finally getting into the AR platform. I have a Palmetto State Armory Complete lower on the way. Should be here Thursday. I'll probably end up getting a PSA upper to match it. I've only shot an AR once so looking forward to finally getting this gun together and out to the range.
  6. I believe they are going to renovate the old Chrysler building in Huntsville. I may have the name of the building wrong though. They have partnered with local colleges to begin training the workforce to meet their needs. Probably still at least a year out before anything significant happens as far as hiring and putting people to work other than construction folks.
  7. I haven't had my boat out since August. Waiting on some warmer weather. Can't wait to get out and get a hook in the water.
  8. The Governor of Alabama is expected to confirm rumors tomorrow that Remington will open a plant in Huntsville and possibly employ up to 2,000 people. I've heard they are scaling back the New York plant, closing it down all together, or keeping it as is. Either way this is big news for the Huntsville and surrounding area. Lawrence County recently lost a huge employer so hopefully some of those folks may be able to find work with Remington. The details should be out tomorrow.
  9. Tuscumbia, Al about 5 minutes or so from the boat ramp at Riverfront Park in Sheffield. Pickwick!
  10. I bought a Lowe Stryker 17 last year and it has been exactly what I needed. It's no speed demon of course with just a 60 hp motor but it gets me to where I want to go. The rod storage on board could be a little better, but that's my real only complaint. I traded my old boat in for so that trade in made for a nice down payment.
  11. Actually found some 9mm on the shelf at walmart tonight. Remington and Federal. It may be showing up there more but I don't go in there very often. 9mm is actually pretty easy to get around here now. A little .22 showing up but still not much.
  12. I fished it around the steam plant yesterday. It was thick. Didn't catch anything but saw several small fish swimming around the perimeter of it. They weren't bass.
  13. I've been hearing some people talking about catching some smallmouth along Riverfront Park in Sheffield. Anyone been catching any in that area?
  14. Hows the best way to fish those areas of grass?
  15. A follow up on my problem of the gun ejecting the spent round. As I stated before, we cleaned and oiled it and I ran some 124 gr hollow points through it with not problems. Fast forward to this last Thursday and I finally got to spend some quality time at the range with my sr9c. No one was there, maybe it was the 96 degree temp and 107 degree heat index but whatever the reason I had the range to myself. I had finally built up enough ammo to shoot. I was shooting 115 gr PMC, Remington, and American Federal Eagle in 115 gr and a few rounds in 147 gr flat nose as well as some junk stuff I picked up. I shot about 200 rounds with only one little hiccup. The gun was finally good as advertised. I am a novice shooter, so my groupings were getting a little better by the end of my session. It just takes range time and practice. With ammo slowly coming back around hopefully I can get in some more practice. I'm very happy with it so far not that we got the problem straightened out which i think was mostly my grip.
  16. I usually wait until August before I start fishing again. Things for me really heat up in Spring Creek during that month. I may try to fish it a bit earlier this year to see if I can yield the same results. This time of year for me is tough though. I'm not that good at fishing deeper water. I know that is something I need to learn and get better at.

It was fairly easy to get a carry permit here in Alabama. Went to the local sheriff's department and got the form. Brought it home and filled it out. Had to list three references that weren't related to you. Turned it in and about 3 days later they called and said it was ready for pickup. Paid my $15 and that was it. I think they have recently passed a law that will allow non permit owners to carry a gun in your vehicle as long as its not loaded and not within hands reach. I guess this is for folks going to the range and such and they would worry about getting stopped and ticketed.
  18. Went to Gander Mountain last Friday and found plenty of Remington 9 mm in 50 round boxes and in bulk 300 boxes. They also had several Blazer Brass bulk boxes as well. Their truck runs Thursday so it just didn't disappear overnight but it was all gone by Monday. Word is they also had some .22's, Federal I think, in bulk boxes of 300. They were there until Friday morning. Maybe they just got a big truck in, maybe things are slowing down a bit. Not sure which but a good sign i think.
  19. I caught a big ole bunch of nothing yesterday. Every other cast seemed like i was getting hung up. I was throwing in places I was confident there would be fish but alas there was none. Guy told us he was tearing up the smallmouth from the boat ramp at riverfront park in shefffield to where they built that new walkway. They may have moved out of there for now but might be a good place to start if you are up that way.
  20. I work in a public library.
  21. We took it apart and cleaned and oiled it real good. I took it over to where I bought it and they inspected it and couldn't see any problems with the gun itself. After talking for a bit, he believed I was probably limp wristing. So, I got a little better ammo, some Magtech 124 gr and Remington 124 gr hollow points and I shot with not problems. I also shot some American Eagle 115 gr and no problems. After adjusting my grip and locking my wrists a little more I didn't have any problems. So, hopefully I have that problem corrected.
  22. Anyone ever use a rage craw on a shay head jig? I've only used worms but thought it might be worth giving a try.
  23. The tourney I fished in this past Monday out of Mill Creek featured a six pound smallmouth and a seven pound largemouth. That was the lunker. We only managed 4 keeper, but at least 40 bass that day (that included prefish). Several a half inch or quarter inch to short. Our four went 10.52. I also fished Tuesday and yesterday. We caught several more bass but nothing big. Junk fished yesterday, my 89 year old grandfather went with us. He had a great time and caught a bunch of fish.
  24. At least a 100 rounds, maybe a few more.
  25. I keep getting stovepipes on PMC and American Eagle ammo too. Any ideas? Maybe needs a good cleaning?
