lol one last question on rod length...RW
Like RW says, it is a matter of personal choice and sometimes technique. I do 50% of my fishing from shore and I use from 6.0 to 7.11, the shorter are better if you have to do a lot of walking and casting with obstacles but you loose casting distance.

OK RW, here goes, Pure flouro, why use it?
Me too

What is the point of split grip rods?
Mostly the look, and may be weight. I hope you know Surperglue is not a waterproof cement.

Down to 2 baitcasters, which one???
I will go with the Advantage if I was looking for another reel, great price but it is not going to last long. It has been Daiwa's flag ship in the low $ 100 before the Tierra came out and it has been out for a while and I've never heard anything negative about. I don't own any but I've serviced a few of them for members of my club. The new Prodigy is made by Daiwa but not supported by them, that means anything go wrong with the reel you are limited pretty much to Cabelas and no way to order parts for them. This reel is very similar to the Alpha/Sol. Let us know what you decide.

Hi everyone, need some help, noisy bait caster.
Rich for my Alpha I used ZPI Sic that you can find ( order ) at Japan Tackle or Plat. These bearings have no shield so there are easier to clean but you have to do it more often, pretty much after every trip. Most of my Daiwas have TG Rocket hybrid ceramic and this is by far my favorite, you can get them from Heartland Tackle. I have also used his SS ones that are more economical. VXB and Bocas are also very good. Changing the bearing and the drag washers made a big difference in my Alpha, I also added a bearing to the worm shaft like the TD-Z has and changed the handle to a 90 mm with 4 bearings. My latest thing was a I'ze red spool. I use TG Rocket Yellow oil for the bearings and Shimano for every thing else. Let me know if you need further help.

Hi everyone, need some help, noisy bait caster.
My Alpha F also came with a casting noise, so did a couple of my latest TD-Zs.....what I do with my reels, I oil them just out of the box and they go in the hybrid ceramic ball bearing upgrade list....it is worth every dollar!!!!!

Crankbait AND Spinnerbait rod???
I use the CBR 845 as my primary larger spinnnebaits and buzzers rod but it fish med/deep crankers very well, this is what it was designed for.

How often do you re-spool?
Nylon and copolymer before each tourney and every 4-5 trips, braid may be 2-3 time a year changing the leader every trip at least.

braided line question
I use braid in most of my spinning and all bc for soft plastics. Of the one I have used. Sufix best. Powerpro pretty good. Spiderwire ( all ) and P-Line worsen. 15 lbs for spinning and 50 lbs for baitcasters. Always a fluoro leader except for frogs.

Reel or Rod
If I have to choose I would go with a better rod and I try to keep both toward the high end.
-
gear ratio question
I have my reel diveded in 3 groups. Slow ( < 22 ITP ) Zillion and Accurist 401. Med/deep cranking. Fast ( 22-28 ) Alpha and Scorpion for hard topwasters. and jerkbait. TD-zs for soft plastic. Cardiff for swimbaits. Revo general. Ultra Fast ( 28-31 ) Zillion HL for spinner, buzzer and frogs.

Swimbaits for high pressured clear water?
If you are going to fish with swimbaits only you need a lure for the different levels of the water column. MS Slammer for the top and Mattlures for the middle and bottom are a good starter.
