  1. Avid I've never needed the service yet but a few months ago my MBR IMX 844 lost the top guide inner ring. I contacted GL requesting the part, it was over overnight delivered free of charge. If you look in details at the reel seat of your rod, in one corner says ..." Zillion " Best luck
  2. I have been using Quantums for a long time without any major problem and I currently have 2 Accurist and 2 Energy 861 that I love, one thing, they are heavier than most modern reels in the market, I have upgraded the ball bearing of mine, worth every penny of the $ 16.00 I invested.
  3. Always, no room for arguments 8-)
  4. These 4 extra bearings are at the knobs and have nothing to do with casting but make retrieve softer and smoother. The quality of the spool support bearing is what realy counts with casting and I don't think most people know what their real rate are in either of them. AG has said that they have put ABEC 3 on theirs but I don't know it for sure. My Zillion has 10 + 1 bb and ABEC 7s at the spool....and yes it does funtion like a dream but I don't own a Revo so it may performe as well with the same work.
  5. I'm so happy I saw this one.....I don't feel that guilty anymore!!!!!
  6. I was just wondering if you were getting the results in distance and smoothness. I didn't know it was mostly for the ability to throw lighter lures. ReelMech this is my first impression. As I get more data I will let you know, anyway you are going to have them all in the Spring so you can check them out......and thanks you
  7. Like Raul said....I've fished with both. Now IMX to GLX.....hard to say. It is so nice to have a GLX in your hands with a supertunned reel 8-)
  8. ReelMech i don't have any objective data but all my bc seem that the spool spin faster and easier and that they cast smoother now, specially with light lures. The biggest difference I noted with the Quantums. Also I don't have a favorite yet since this is some how knew to me but certanly I would report back once I have one. This is what I did. Quantums, Stainless ABEC 7 Alpha and TD-Z BB got ZPI Sic ceramic that I believe are ABEC 5, you did the Daiwa for me. Scorpion and rest of TD-Zs TG Roquet ceramic ABEC 7. Most of my bearings came from Jim at Heartland Tackle Service.
  9. I have the Symetre 2500 and it is realy nice, the Tierra looks great in paper but the Symetre is much faster. Good luck with them.
  10. I read some place that Abu has the best bearings in their factory reel compare with Daiwas and Shimanos. I upgraded all mine to ABEC 7 just out of the box, so there is not a question.....they are superturbo now ;D
  11. I fish the Hudds and BBZ with a Cardiff 301, I've never felt the need of a bigger reel, you should check it out. Size is weight
  12. Good luck. SB is very possesive. I did this, Powell Max for the big lure and Okuma MH 7.6 for the small ones. I have no one complain. Crucial was my second option but I have it and I sent it back b/c of the weight. My Cardiff superturbo does the job right!!!!!!TD-Z BB for the Okuma so.
  13. Avid you are rigth on.....why do we like better a round reel for SB?.....I have not an idea. If you want to try....Cardiff out of the box is OK, upgraded ......is an explosion.....Megadiff we call it here!!!!!!
  14. Jasone I use the same set for DS and shaekyhead, the GLoomis DS 6.10 with Energy PT-i, I love this set but it is outside what you are asking. I fished a lot with my partner's set and it also phenomenal and very light, he uses a Daiwa L&T 6.3 m with a Shimano Symetre 1500, highly recommended and is about $ 200.00.
  15. This is exactly what I do.
  16. Yeap you are correct...that is the right way anyway.... ;D Most manufacturer offer some of their models in lefty but I'm still waiting for a Revo 7.1:1 like that.
  17. For the big swimbaits I use this rod. I like it better than the Okuma and is lighter than the Crucial. http://tackletour.com/reviewpowellsb711h.html For reel Shimano Cardiff 301. Good luck
  18. actualy You get a 5 year warenty on the L&T I don't know where you got that info from, not from Daiwa web site. Since I own a few hight end Daiwa reels I keep in touch with them frecuently. Only the Cielo, Tierra and Steez metioning a Limited Life Time Warranty, there is not such a thing for the L&T....I contacted them before I bougth my swimbait set and I was told this very clearly, that they will only covered 1 year......Go ahead and take your chances and let us know. http://www.daiwa.com/Rod/freshwater.aspx
  19. Topwater is a big topic, goes from frogs to hard plastics to swimbait......it is hard to find a single rod that does every thing...... :-?
  20. Bass fishermen think nothing of two clumsy, unnatural looking "treble hooks" dangling beneath the lure. Heck, those suspicious looking grappling hooks are automatically accepted by bass, right? BUT, that hair-like strand extending from the creatures nose, that'll spook the daylights out of any bass :D Gridiron, I'm honestly not aware of any line-visibility issue; if I thought it mattered I'd use a leader, but I don't. Roger Good point Rolo, I do use a leader just to keep my partner mouth shoot but I also don't beleive it :-X does anything for me
  21. You got it ......cojonudo!!!!!! This is my Megadiff 301 coming out of the bench.....I love it :-* It seats on the top of a Powell Max 7.11 EH.....swimbaits dream
  22. In the way I look at this, the rod is the most fragile item in this equation, so the one that required the best warranty and support. I love the Daiwa L&T but after a year you are done...... I rather invest a bit more and stay with more back up, Airrus, GLoomis or Kistler....no questions asked. BPS is forever
  23. Like he says, you get a $99.00 reel that is even lighter than the Calcuta and change the bearings to ABEC 7 which are better than anyone the Calcuta even dream about and for about $ 20.00 and Carbontex washers for another $ 8.00 and you got yourself a custom reel......every penny is worth if you are fishing Swimbaits. The best they offer are ABEC 3 CALAIS A-RB (Anti-Rust Bearings) are specially treated stainless steel ball bearings that are at least 10 times more corrosion resistant than standard stainless steel ball bearings This is from Shimano web- site
