  1. It will look very nice. I would also upgrade the ball bearing to TG Rockets ceramic hybrid and Carbontex drag washers. They are worth every penny. Good luck with it
  2. I wasn't happy with mine either, I took it apart to find that was bone dry, no a drop of oil or grease on it. Now the problem is fixed and it is ultra smooth.....but got also better bearings and drag washers.
  3. That's an easy one: Shimano Symetre Like he says, better performance than any of my other reels, Energys and Catalyst
  4. I mostly pitch, jigs with Accurist PT and soft plastics with TD-Z, both with Sufix 50-65 lbs
  5. All this test were conducted by people with a very solid credibility. I just don't like the red stain and that's it.....TG and ReelMech # 778 do it for me. Daiwa oil works great too.
  6. I use the TD-Z BB for my smaller SBs and a Cardifff 301 for the largest lures. It does the job perfectly fine, cost $ 100.00 and weight less than 9 oz. I don't see the reason to buy a Calcuta, is much heavier Now if you add some Xtreme Smoooothies drag washers and TG rocket ball bearings you get a Dragondiff 301..... For rods I use Okuma BB 7.6 in MH for the small ones and a Powell Max 7.11 EH for the big ones.
  7. I use ReelMech oil for the past year and I'm very happy with it since he does the year service in all of them I don't want to mix different oils. I used HS once, the thing stained the metal and the line and is a pain to clean, my reels will never see it again and I own a few Quantums. Daiwa also include their oil with their reels.
  8. This is one of the few techniques I rather use spinning gear. DSR822s Quantum Energy PTi Sufix 15 lbs with 10 lbs P-Line Fluoro leader. Daiichi DS hooks BPS DS weights. Zoom Fat Albert grubs
  9. Most of my fishing is done in 0-6 f, fish over 15 f is very rare.
  10. I wish but P-Line doesn't offer CX in 17 lbs
  11. .Good choice, I use CBR 845 Custom trimmed to 6.8 for trapps and spinnerbaits. I have it rigged with an upgraded Scorpion 1001, love that combo
  12. Like the others said, I also like a noisy black/blue jig with a large profile trailer like Zoom big salty chunk.
  13. Thank you much guys, great advice!!!!
  14. I'm probably in the minority but I prefer mod-fast, for me the ideal is the CBR845.
  15. I own 2 of them, 3 now since Ken Whithing, the owner, sent me a brand new one after I broke one of the guides of my old Ultra XL. Phenomenal customer service. Good luck and enjoy!!!!!!
  16. Congrats....Good luck with it.
  17. Absolutely if you said so, I was using # 778 . I'm getting good at this.....so far only a lost retainer clip and a destroyed spool trying to get the pin out :'(
  18. Thanks I did, and I was in the process of changing the ball bearings to TG Rockets when I lost the clip retainer :-[
  19. Here, he is the best in town. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=DavidGreen
  20. If you are decided to fish with swimbaits, the cheapest is to get a real SB rod. I fished with this one for a while and the EH will do the job right with most swimbait and is still at the range you are looking for. It is not light so...... Best luck. http://www.***.com/descpageRDCDAIWA-DAHSCR.html
  21. Thanks again, I have 10 on the way. They were nice on the phone. This is the second TD-Z I got from Cabelas, it is the driest reel I have seen, no a drop of lubricant anywhere. Advice for those who own them.
  22. THAT IS THE ONE!!!!!!! Thanks a lot. I don't put grease either in anything exposed. By the way, do you have any idea where to find one those ball bearing retention clips for a TD-Z, I lost the one from the side plate :'( and I already gave up looking for it in the floor of my office. :-[
  23. I'm in the process of changing the drag washers to some of my reel and upgrading the ball bearings. I have seen a diagram of the areas by the drive gear that require grease, I think that Raul posted but I can't find it after a good hour of searching the site, can someone help with this? Appreciated, I don't want to leave a critical part uncovered. Thanks in advance.

I have the swimbait 7.6 MH that I use for Mattlures and similar and like Avid said it is OK for the job, the Powell 7.11 EH is lighter.
