Only been fishing about 1.5 yrs. Ive got two rigs with braid and flouro leaders, both with a Uni to Uni knot. I have had flouro break at the knot where the two join on a big bass, 30 lb braid to 8 lb Seagaur flouro, both fresh and in good shape. Ive now gone to 12 lb leader on this rig. Ive also read how flouro cuts itself at the knot using a Palomar. I may have had a couple of those break offs and it got me thinking. So the question is, is mono more resistant to cutting itself in these situations? Should I use a quality mono leader with the braid instead?

they last for years. Try driving the trailer around for a few minutes and hitting the brakes in forward and reverse. Then check it again and the rust or dirt may be smoothed out and well be well again.

it has a 14P on it now, Im wanting it to be the "high altitude" prop so it will rev more freely and idle easier at 7-8K' elev at some of the high Sierra lakes. The numbers on the prop now are 48-816706 440 14P the second 6 may be a "G" and the first 4 in the 440 may be an "A".

Ive got a 60hp Merc motor and want a smaller prop. I want to compare a true Merc made prop vs a good after market prop. Where can I look for a Merc at a good price and what after market props are good and a fair price?

and if you make your own how do they attach to the line, is there a quik release system or just tied on? I too have a ton of lead and could do that. Ive also heard of using solder and hitting the end with a hammer to flatten it and then poke a hole thru it for the line. I have a 25lb roll of that too from my radiator repair days.

I tried drop shot rigs for the first time yesterday. I purchased the style of weight that has the steel wire thru it that is loose and hangs out the bottom. You put the line thru the top and then pull the wire out the bottom as one way to use this weight. Well, they seem to come off too easy and I lost a couple after a few drops and one when casting to hit a hole and caused a nice nest in my reel cuz it came off in the air and I didnt realize it >. So I see there are many styles of weights and wonder what some of you are using?

Retired in May and started fishing a few months before that. Now have a kayak and a Bass Tracker 185. Still dont get out as much as I would like to. Always seems there is a chore to do, its too windy or something hangs me up. Deer season is about over, dirt bike season is starting, probly still wont find the time to do it all as much as i would like. Wife buggin me about me being retired and her still working. I may have to go to work again to survive the ordeal. I may go drown some worms tomorrow.

are there any brands of tails that are floating? I have not found any at my local store.

I had two incidents, first was a item my wife bought and paid insurance to the seller-never came-tunrs out package was damaged and sent to a central site and eventually discarded due to no addresses. Turns out the seller didnt pay for insurance either. 2nd was just the other day, title to a car was sent to me, showed delivered by post office by delivery confirmation. Check with post and they showed it delivered, but delivered to the IRS building in town, what the??? Took another 8 days for it to get delivered to me.
