  1. It's "knocking" and the knocking has gotten worse over time (the past 6 months). The computer shows that there's something up with the number one cylinder.
  2. Thanks fly. We're definitely not going to drop 5K on a van that we bought for 6K three years ago. We can buy the same vehicle for less than that now with fewer miles than our current van. If we sold our van AS IS and advertised what was wrong with it, do you know what we could expect to get out of it?
  3. My wife's 2005 Chrysler Town and Country needs a new camshaft. The mechanic said it would be best to put a whole new engine in it, which would cost between 4-5K. Two questions: 1. How hard is it to replace a camshaft? 2. Is 4-5K sound high to you for replacing the motor?
  4. The results of this game had nothing to do with cheating, and everything to do with the Patriots owning Manning. On a side note, Manning has played in three "big" games this season (his return to Indy, the undefeated Chiefs, and the Pats rivalry). He is 1-2 in these "big" games, playing sub-par ball in the two losses. I love Manning, and want to see him win another Super Bowl, but this just reeks of Manning going Manning again with a great regular season, only to shrink away come playoff time. I hope not, but if past performance is indicative of future results, this season will end in disappointment for Manning and the Broncos. I've just got this bad feeling that at the end of the year, Tim Tebow will still have one more playoff win as the Bronco's quarterback than Manning.
  5. I'm a Duke fan, and named one of my duck dog "Duke". We only have two little girls right now, but if a boy ever come along.....

Well, I heard from this fellow, that knows a guy, who has a source, who knows what really happened. I've been keeping this all quiet for a while, but I figured the time to let the cat out of the bag is now. I'm going to reveal this information, not to the U.S. government, nor a reliable media source, but to a bass fishing forum. The real killer was......all you conspiracy theorists! Really! You've been killing me with your black helicopter tales! Keep the laughs coming, guys.
  7. I've caught a goose while night fishing. I thought it was a stump, and was trying to fish it. I ended up catching it, set the hook while I was trying to get my bait off of it, and then fought it in shock as he flew away (eventually breaking my line). That was not only the rarest catch, but the noisiest I've ever had!
  8. I don't doubt that he would leave Alabama for Texas. But, why? He's got a great program on top of the college football world. He's loved by the fans. What does Texas offer that Alabama doesn't? It can't be more money or better recruiting. Does he just want the challenge of resurrecting another program?
  9. Is it the same story reported on by ESPN and every other sports media outlet (including our local sports radio talk dude in eastern North Carolina)?
  10. I worked in a heavy equipment shop for a couple of Summers while I was in college, and we had an older guy who would occasionally fall asleep while he was working under one of the pieces of equipment. He wasn't trying to slack off, he would just conk out while working from time to time when he was laying on his creeper. One day he fell asleep under a bullDOZER (see what I did there?) and was awoken when the wrench he was using to break a bolt loose fell and hit him in the face.
  11. The square root of a triangle is...uh....um....uh...."Hey son, how would you like to skip school on Monday and go hunting with dear ol' dad? The rut is in full swing, and you're sure to learn a lot more useful information in the Fall woods than in some stuffy math classroom." That's the square root of a triangle!
  12. Wow, I'm not a Packers' fan, but I still feel sorry for the dude. You have to hate to see anyone get hurt and not be able to play.

What a great first buck. Heck, that's a great buck no matter how many or how big you've killed before. Great looking deer!
  14. In the NFL a win is a win. The Chiefs have 9 of them right now. That's more than anyone else, including this year's golden boys, the Broncos. You can talk all you want to about the Chiefs not being as good as their record states because of their competition, but remember, the Broncos had a tough time with the Jaguars a few weeks ago, but still pulled out the win. A win is a win. I'm a Cowboys fan, and I sure wish we had 9 "unimpressive" wins over the 5-4 record we have.
  15. I grew up with strict parents, morally speaking. I'm thankful for that. But, I had a lot of freedoms that my friends didn't. My dad let me take his bass boat out alone at a young age. Typically, these outings happened while the boat was in a slip at the campground we were staying at. But, I remember being dropped off at the ramp once before I had my driver's license. They just told me what time to be back, and they would pick me up. My dad also taught me how to use firearms and hunt at a young age, and "turned me loose" pretty early on when he wasn't able to take me hunting. As I've gotten older, the freedom I had hunting and fishing during my childhood means a whole lot more to me than being able to drink a beer or screw around with some girl, and my parents approving of it.
  16. In eastern NC our early season was decent. A mess of woodies and a few geese (the geese were hard to pattern this year for some reason). We've been scouting for our second season (which begins November 9th) and have found a few birds (mallards and woodies).
  17. I thought "xing" was a word until I was in my late 20s. As in pedestrian "xing" or railroad "zing". My family was in Pittsburg a few years ago, and looking to cross the street, I said, "Hey, there's a pedestrian zing." My wife just shook her head as my dad explained that it was a pedestrian "CROSSING". Oh, that's what the "X" is for! When I was in high school one of my friends opened a bottle of Dr. Pepper that had a winning top on in. She exclaimed, "I just won 20 oz bottles of Dr. Pepper!!!" It took us a while to explain to her that she had only won a single 20 OUNCE bottle of the delicious beverage (which still wasn't a bad deal).
  18. Wow! It must be an old phrase then!
  19. We typically take a couple of steaks and some potatoes with us to cook over the campfire. Anything else we get to eat has to be killed or caught first. This tradition has led to eating turtle, nutria, beaver, and anything else the swamp might produce!
  20. No you wouldn't. I bet your aim is worse than a Raider's quarterback! Besides, you probably don't have enough fire power to knock a fly out of the air, let alone a PETA drone. Ok, that ought to keep him fired up and looking to the skies for the next three days.
  21. Nice buck and nice shot! TV bucks are nice, but other mature deer taste just as good!
  22. It stinks to have a game decided by an obstruction call. But, according to the rules, the call was right.
  23. Discipline and self control! Plus, I had a 5K this morning and didn't want to have to squat on the side of the road and get rid of it.
  24. The slice of Pizza Hut pizza I had for supper was good to me!
