  1. Looks like somebody did something other than hit the refresh button while the site was down. Congrats...again!
  2. Checked to see if the site was back up yet. Hey muddy, how about starting another joke-a-day thread in honor of the great improvements Glenn made! (Yea, I might need a few sermon illustrations :)
  3. Thanks so much for your hard work. I did a little dance when I got online this evening and saw that site was up and running. ;D
  4. Yep, I did exactly the same thing. Glad to be back home!
  5. I can also testify firsthand as to the goodness of frogtog. A couple of years ago I saw a bunch of guys at a popular local boat ramp who looked like they just got done fishing a tournament. I stopped to talk to them and frogtog invited me to fish their next tournament. I did, and ended up donating him a little money (he won, which isn't unusual for him). Over about the next year he shared a lot of valuable information with me. He's one of the best fishermen (if not the best) in our area, but he still takes time to talk to lousy nobody fishermen like me, and help us out. He's a great guy!
  6. That was the funniest thing I've read in a long time. Thanks for sharing those. Do you have a link for the book. I'd like to purchase a copy and read all of them.
  7. Our prayers are with his Tim's family. I've been reading his articles for years, and whenever I see him on TV, read his name, or even think about him, my mind goes back to the infamous "Bitter Classic Incident." If you remember, it was Tim Tucker that was riding with Jim Bitter when he lost the winning fish of the Bassmaster Classic over the side of the boat while measuring it. The crazy thing was that Bitter wasn't even going to measure the fish (he thought it was long enough), but Tim questioned it's length. Just one great memory of a great man.
  8. I hope his murderer becomes a Christian...before he is executed.
  9. Senile, where do you get off not giving me some credit? > I taught you everything you know! ;D
  10. This is the story from "another site." A new California state-record smallmouth bass was caught on July 3 at Pardee Lake by Stockton angler Harold Hardin. The 9.83-pound brute eclipsed the 31-year-old bronzeback standard by nearly 3/4 of a pound. Hardin, who's fished Pardee for 40 years, hooked the monster on a charcoal-colored swimbait just off of Leveque Point at the mouth of the Mokelumne River. He's quoted on the Pardee Lake Recreation website as having hooked and lost an even larger fish shortly thereafter. The previous state-record smallmouth (9.1 pounds) was caught by Tom Brady at Trinity Lake in 1976. The former Pardee record was an 8.91-pounder caught last March, also off of Leveque Point. Pardee Lake Recreation president Dennis Johnston said the fish was weighed on the certified scales at the Pardee Lake Marina, and was taken to Sacramento today for official measurements by California Department of Fish and Game officials. He said Hardin plans to have the fish mounted. Pardee is a foothill reservoir east of Stockton operated by the East Bay Municipal Utility District.
  11. Dosn't sound like such a big deal. They probably have a pill for it.
  12. From what I'm hearing it was a real piranah. A biologist (state biologist I assume) identified it as one. So much for the July 4th dip in the river I was planning ;D
  13. 8-1 on a Mattlures LMB Swimbait
  14. My guess is that if you have to include athletics on your resume you should quit worrying about sponsors and just go fishing. Your fishing accomplishments and ability to sell product are going to get you sponsorships, not how many points you scored in a JV basketball game. If I was looking at a resume and it included how many "letters" a person got playing High School (or even college) ball, I think it would discredit what's important: Fishing ability and marketability.
  15. Congrats on the tournament win!
  16. Glenn, His nickname, the "rainbow warrior" represents the colors that are flown by Gays. Thus the Rainbow warrior!!!!!! and racing was primarily a southern sport. Matt No way, have you seen the man's wife?
  17. "What would be the easiest route to enter into the business side of the fishing industry" I would guess that getting a job at BPS, Cabela's, Dicks, or even in the Wal-Mart sporting goods department would be a good place to start. By being involved in one of those companies you'd probably get to meet reps. from a lot of other great companies in the industry. Then, if you're a good guy and good at what you do, you might get your "dream job."
  18. I agree with 5bass, it wouldn't work for smaller tournaments. In most of the smaller tournaments even the "director" fishes. So, if I caught a limit in 10 minutes and came back to to dock, I might have to wait for 8 hours for the director to get there. In the mean time three other boats could have pulled up, claiming to have been there first. I'd stick with the heaviest weight at the end of a particular time!
  19. Not sure if it's fenced or posted private/no tres.---Well, ask your "guy" 30 lbs. of largemouth with appx. 25 fish total---If that's the case, that photo is very deceptive "I create a hunting/fishing magazine online"---What's the web address? Fined $52, then later perhaps $100s?---That's wierd This whole thing sounds wierd. :-/
  20. That's awesome. I just got on here to see if you had posted anything about the tournament, because I figured you'd be there. Thanks for the report!
  21. Let's make a pro/con list for this boyfriend: Cons: Rape, gun control violations, yelling at her over a birthday present (when his birthday is a few weeks away), on parole, on his way to jail.... Pros: He hasn't killed or seriously hurt her....yet. She needs to dump this guy immediately. If she continues to mess around with him she'll definately end up hurt emotionally, and most likely physically.
  22. I'm a Spurs fan, and I think they'll pull it off, but Mr. James sure does look good.
  23. I've heard of blaming it on the dog, but never the bass :
  24. Speed, You don't have to worry about me calling those two morons. If they want to challenge me, they can call me at 1-800-462-5427 (or 1-800-Im-a-liar) ;D
