  1. That's the way it is with a lot of those community lakes.
  2. look up John Hope Bass movement study. He did a very thorough study on big bass movement and came up with some interesting conclusions.
  3. I've owned MK motors for many, many years with virtually no problems. Skip the power drive auto pilot models though. They have never been TM's made for bass fishing.
  4. There have been a couple reviews on the ASR rods on this board. All were very positive.
  5. Sno bowl is as good as it gets. If it's really tough, sno bowl and ammonia. MAKE SURE TO PUT WATER IN THE BUCKET FIRST BEFORE ADDING THE OTHER 2 MIXTURES!!
  6. I'd suggest doing that after a large bass tournament, you'll learn the in's and outs from guys that have been doing it a long time. OTOH, just showing up at boat ramp X on Lake Z on a weekend will surely show you many, many examples on how NOT to load or unload a boat. If nothing else, it's good for a laugh.
  7. I've got one better. Don't try and trailer the boat with the TM deployed. I've done that twice!!
  8. That title is a little misleading. It sounds like you had an orgasm about missing a sale. Perhaps DRATS!! would be less misleading.
  9. It's gotta be when I reach for my Grandpa's rusty old stringer. There are just so many memories..
  10. Your avatar kicks butt. Love the, dead too long fish laying on the dock shriveling up. I'd love a boat decal just like that.
  11. You will go faster. The boat will be more stable. It will cost you a lot more to use it. otherwise, why not use the resources available on this website? Seems a waste to post a thread about information that could be easily obtained from a few clicks. Read through the articles and then come back with questions about specifics. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/bass_boats.html
  12. Shouldn't a 5 month old reel be under warranty?
  13. What kind of cars did you race? I didn't. I was a fan of CART racing (also known as Indy car racing). That was the series that team Nascar team owners like Roger Penske and Chip Ganassi actually run in and succeed big time. It's now known as the ICS. Indy Car Series.
  14. That's probably one of the Rajun Cajun models. Great boats, quick. Not sure a 90hp was max HP for that boat though. As stated. Wood construction....... need I say more. Transom and floor deserve special attention. Motor needs to be checked by a mechanic. It may just be a matter of a motivated seller needing cash FAST. Let us know.
  15. I assume ESPN has the stakes in that magazines game. That explains a lot.
  16. Not a good year for me at all. I've fished once. From the bank. :( I've taken golf back up again. I'm looking to make a custom golf course rod that fits in my bag and doesn't look to conspicuous.
  17. Threadfin shad are basically AM spawners. The best area's are shallow, rocky, hard bottom places. With the shad up shallow and spawning on their mind they've become easier prey for the bass that often cruise up very, very close to bank. The shad can be attacked with little in the way of escape routes for them. A particularly good set up would be with a slight wind blowing into a rocky, hard bottom bank or point and the water a little off color. This cuts the visibility for the bass to see way down and forces them to attack via movement. Crankbaits tossed very, very shallow can be killer as well as a spinnerbait. Expect to get hung up but the results are worth the effort. You can and will catch big fish fishing the shad spawn if you hit the conditions just right.
  18. New guy here. cart = Championship Auto Racing Teams. This part of my handle I've used since around 1996-97 on racing forums. 7 = When making a hotmail email addy to access the forums the name "cart6" was taken. 6 was Michael Andretti's number. So I went with 7 which wasn't taken. Thus the name cart7 was born. I've used it for years on racing and fishing forums. As for the t? My original name was somehow deleted and non-retrievable here. I threw the "t" onto the end so I could maintain the cart7 name. In Indy car racing, the "t" car is a backup car to the primary car. In other words, a team can have a 7 car and a 7t car.
  19. Who are these some? Smell is way down on the list of factors that bass rely on to find prey. Catfish otoh.
  20. never mind, they've just reappeared. Except in the post "recessed foot control tray" in the boating section. No delete or edit function available for my posts. Weird.
  21. Besides sight slowness, I've noticed it at work too. Today I did a reload on my computer (HD bit the big one) and the edit and delete buttons are missing on posts. Anyone else experiencing that?
  22. The distance between the tray and the pedestal post can be pretty critical if you sit and stand while fishing. When I initially installed my tray I didn't take the distance into account and found that when sitting, the tray position caused me to have to **** my leg back too much to operate the pedal. It was somewhat uncomfortable to say the least. When I did my front deck extension I was able to fix the position and moved it back around an 1 1/2 to 2". It made a whole lot of difference in leg comfort while sitting and the difference when standing and using the TM pedal was negligible.
  23. In the past, even fiberglass bass boats have had bow livewells. I'm sure it was done for the convenience factor so the guy at the front didn't have to go to the back of the boat with a fish. The problems were many. Increased weight at the front causing the OB to have to lift even more bow weight causing for a bouncier ride in rough water. Due to that bouncier ride, the fish can and do get beat up more. Water, water everywhere. Regardless of how well a front livewell was sealed, it would seem that a rough ride down the lake would send water up and over the top of the LW thus getting the carpet on the floor immediately behind the livewell, soaked. Bad idea. I've never used the front livewell on any boat I've owned and normally turned it into a storage area or ice chest.
  24. 3/4" holes on the bottom aren't going to do much good if the radio itself is contained in a box. If the backside of the box isn't completely open I'd suggest doing that. Even better would be cutting back and inch or so on the back of the box so the rear end of the stereo is exposed. Most car stereo's have the Output IC heatsinks mounted at the rear, that's what needs airflow to allow the heatsink to dissipate the heat quicker.
