  1. If I had the expendable cash id scoop that up NGaHB
  2. http://www.templeforkflyrods.com/products/combo.html Bottom combo would be really nice. And only $25 to replace it if you ever break it, no questions asked. -NGaHB
  3. X2 on most of the above. I would look into a Temple Fork Outfitters rod as well, good place to start. I would suggest going for a longer rod, at least 8'6", but if you need to use it for tournament then i feel ya on the shorter rod. A floating line will work well, then you can alternate between mono and floro if you want to keep it on top or sink down. As far as reels go I would spend as much as you can on a rod and good line, then go cheap on the reel, I personally rarely use mine in the course of fighting a fish. (I am starting to do some bass fishing with a fly rod, but grew up fly fishing for trout and from time to time pan fish) NGaHB
  4. Most likely someone mentioned using them in an interview, people realized they are no longer produced, and next thing you know they are the hot commodity. NGaHB
  5. I've bought a rod from the guy and it wasn't a problem at all, even contacted Kistler and they said they would honor the warranty from him same as any other source. I do agree he could use some help looking professional, but my rod was received well packaged and shipped within 24 hours of payment. But, as we all know, to each his own. -NGaHB

  7. So I was reading magazines while the better half was perusing teaching books at Barns and Noble and stumbled upon a magazine focused mainly on carp fishing, although some other equally less glorious fish were highlighted as well. And Im not too sure if I like their direction with fishing or not. I dig the Jersey Shore style gal they have on the cover, but I dont know if Im into the 40lb carp shes holdin. You decide NGaHB
  8. Thanks guys, I'm going to start with the In-Fisherman Critical Concepts Largemouth Bass books and the other two dealing with large bass huntin. I got Mike Ike's book for my girlfriends dad for his birthday earlier this evenin, but went ahead and read it tonight, not too much on fishing, but decent book none the less. NGaHB
  9. Ive got a three bladed buzz bait that I have had for years, long before I did any real bass fishing. Its gone through a couple of skirts, but keeps producing on those bad days. I never throw it off the bat because its so d**n ugly, but it works when im really needing a bite. NGaHB

  13. Ive fished an Avid a decemt ammount, and really like it. I feel they under rate the power of them alittle, I feel the M I fished is closer to a MH. They also have a great warranty. NGaHB
  14. If your lake has alot of carp, I would be willing to bet alot of the fish your seeing are carp. Especially the ones coming out of the water completely. NGaHB
  15. I'm the same, I was given a Kindel, but i just cant read on it, atleast not like I can in a book, I still read newspapers too. Stuck in the past I suppose. NGaHB
  16. Thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll be sure to check out as many as I can. I know this site is a wealth of knowledge, but i enjoy having a hard copy of something to sit up and read before bed and the such. Im one of the few these days that appreciates a book thats still made of paper. Thanks NGaHB
  17. I have seen various posts in the past talking about good bass fishing books, but when I searched its hard to narrow down the threads. Does anyone have any books that are their favorite for quality info? Thanks NGaHB
  18. I've been using a Mitchell S2000 for over a year now. Its not as nice as some spinning reels I've used, but it has kept going for all this time with no complaints, even after some serious abuse. I wouldn't hesitate getting another one. NGaHB
  19. A-Jay, that first SM is a serious football. NGaHB
