  1. They work great, but not all the time. I have great luck with them at night in the summer, but also in the hours before and after light. I like cavitrons, as well as some other smaller custom guys who make them around here in Georgia. I would suggest looking at Bassresource videos on buzzbaits, gives some great info. NGaHB Oh, and look into diffrent trailer hooks, I never throw a BB without one.
  2. **Note I am not associated with the seller or the manufacturer** I was perusing ebay, as well as the classifieds on here, and came upon some Kistler rods with starting bids of ~$30. I looked into them and found they are reconditioned rods from Kistler, being sold by a guy in Texas. I watched a few go by and decided to bid on a Magnesium TS H/XF rod. The rod was originally 7'8" long, but had been sorted through the reconditioning process into a ~7'2" rod. Being of the cynical sort I didnt expect much from the rod, but I figgured it would be worth a try at ~$40 after shipping. After a small mixup with shipping, my fault come to find out, I got my rod today and have to say that I am pretty impressed. And definitely looking forward to fishing it tomorrow. It has a telescopic handle, pretty slick setup. Originally 7'8", shorter by around 6" now "Reconditioned No Warranty" is under the epoxy. Although this is a down side, unfortunately we know how Kistler's warranty is anyway, so they all might as well be sold as is. Looking forward to seeing how it goes with the Citica tomorrow. I contacted the guy via ebay to see if he is going to have any more available. If so I plan to grab a few more. NGaHB
  3. I dont know what you mean, but I dont think your political musings have anything to do with fishing rod selection. NGaHB
  4. In theory SM dont inhabit the Chattahoochee, only the TN river, in GA that is. Which made me think shoal, which would still be a rare catch as they are down in the Flint 99% of the time. NGaHB
  5. Uploaded the pics for Bob. NGaHB
  6. It's a real shame, but I'm not very surprised. I have heard they are a serious apex predator. Have they been directly messing with the bass populations? NGaHB
  7. Mandatory, defiantly not. Alot of people like moderate actions for cranks and spinners, but I throw both with fast actions, not optimal, but they work. I would suggest getting a spinning rod thats a M power and a casting thats a MH or H and you will be able to cover all techniques. As said before, bass dont care about price tags, my PB came on a rod and reel combo that MIGHT have cost $25 total. Just get something you can feel confident in, if that means getting a $400 rig, and you can afford it, go for it. But I dont see a reason you would HAVE to at all. NGaHB
  8. Looks like a lot of fun, glad to hear folks are doing their best to get rid of as many of those things as possible. NGaHB
  9. Anyone with a more educated eye than mine- does this look like a shoal bass? If not pretty interesting coloration for a LM. NGaHB
  10. I managed to get several fish out of the area today, one that i think might have been a shoal bass. The 4" senkos made it happen, texas rigged with a 1/0 worm hook. I was using a co-polymer leader at first, but lost a real good fish in some brush, so I took the leader off and didnt see a diff in bite frequency. MM- I'll check it out, sounds pretty cool. Thanks again everyone for the suggestions. NGaHB
  11. Thanks for all the input! It would seem that they could see me, however I was up a bank about 30ft above them, not sure about their ability to see "up". I saw this over at the SMB forum, what does someone think about a 4" senko under a float? The current is so slow even a weightless senko is going to not have a chance to float down stream twords them before sinking. Thanks for all the suggestions. I am going to go and attempt to finnesse a bite here in a few. NGaHB
  12. I was fishing a small creek at the inlet to the main river today and was looking at 12 or 15 bass. However, I was unable to buy a bite out of any of them. I tried senkos, a buzz bait, lipless crank, spinner bait... but noting. As you can see there is a tree laying down into the creek, all bass were staged directly down stream of the fallen tree. They seemed to be staged like they were waiting for something, but not anything I was throwing. The water was ~10 ft at the tree, flow was almost non-existent. Water visibility was ~3ft. Any suggestions would be appreciated. NGaHB
  13. Not braggin??? Why not?!?!?! Congrats, thats gotta feel good! NGaHB
  14. One I know was over, one that was close, both on large buzz baits at night. One was a double blade in black, slow chugger, the other a fast white squeeker NGaHB
  15. I fish alone 90% of the time, and I'm glad of it. My girl does come crappie fishing with me, but she needs the constant action. I enjoy having some time with her on the water, but I use fishing as a time to relax alone, so her not being 100% into it is a good thing for me. NGaHB
  16. I glad to get some varied input from people. I have since bought a few packs of various RT products, I'm looking forward to using them. Glad to support a BR sponsor, now to save up for the DVT rod I got a quote on a while back NGaHB
  17. I assumed the same. I figgure they are just using the hype around tungsten weights and the such
  18. Stand out when the suns going down and see if you hear/see any top water hits. If so try using something topwater around dusk into dark. NGaHB
  19. You have the ability to turn these kids onto fishing, or to make it unlikely they will want to fish again. Id throw night crawlers and be sure they catch a few apiece. They will look into artificial themselves later once they have the itch. my $0.02 NGaHB
  20. Next time make sure he cheats the picture and pulls the go-go-gadget-arm move NGaHB
  21. You are a great ambassador for fishing. I take my hat off to you. -Greg Mavity
  22. The summer topwater bite might be dying, but I really like the way Rage Toads run. They hold up well to bites as well NGaHB
  23. Where are these pictures you speak of? NGaHB
  24. I was looking around the internet and saw these rods. They talk about having Tungsten in them, not sure why on earth one would want a dense heavy metal in their rods, but I was just wondering if anyone had any experience or an idea where they were going with this one. http://www.6thsenselures.com/#!__rods/photocarousel0=10 No, I'm going ahead and saying I have no interest in buying one, just wanted to know if anyone had an idea what it was about. Thanks NGaHB
  25. I'm big on buying used from people. If you get a reel from someone who takes care of their gear you can get a very good reel for less than you can find it anywhere else.
