  1. I have been using the cabalas’ XPS series backpack, http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fishing/Tackle-Storage/Tackle-Bags%7C/pc/104793480/c/104777280/sc/104619780/Cabelas-XPGreg-Pro-Series8482-Angler-Pack/704805.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Ffishing-tackle-storage-tackle-bags%2F_%2FN-1100378%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104619780%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253BMMcat104793480%253Bcat104777280&WTz_l=SBC%3BMMcat104793480%3Bcat104777280%3Bcat104619780 and it holds everything I need for a day of fishing trip but it is quiet large. If I was going out for few hours, then a fly fishing vest will do the trick.
  2. I had a similar experience before, when I was fishing on my buddy’s boat. He was throwing a ½ Jig on SK baby craw, and I was using the same Jig but different trailer. After the 10th fish, then I have asked him for a baby craw and got a hit on the 2nd cast. Now, I am a believer the trailer action do make a difference. Most of the time I use netbaits, but SK rage tail will do the trick “sometimes”.
  3. this is so funny...hahaha
  4. a'ight....I am going to BPS this Saturday and pick up a few.
  5. not sure, since they are not even released yet. But i did pre-order them on ***, I can let you know once I have them.
  6. I have caught fish from the same spot after a bad hookset with different types of plastics, maybe you should try that?
  7. Wow. What lures were you using? I usually miss a ton with top water lures, and probably miss 2 or 3 out of every 10 bites on soft plastics. I am getting better at Jigs, because I used to lose 50%-60% of the bites. One thing I have learned is to have patience, don’t set the hook too quickly.
  8. http://images.dealmoon.com/black_friday_2011/Dealmoon-Cabelas-Black-Friday-2011-Ads.pdf Cabelas has stradic 2500 on sale for $99.95 this year, and closest one to me is 2 hours away. DARN IT.
  9. I have had my share of problems with flouro, and to avoid breakage issues I have started to changing my line twice per season. Also, ill fill the spool half full with mono then spool it with flouro.
  10. I have few compres that I am using; it is very light weight and senstivie. I am very satisfied with the rod, and it is a good buy without breaking the bank. But one small complaint is the durability, since I have broken a rod tip after 2 fishing trips but shimano replaced it without any issue). Overall, I am happy but do check out the veritas (same price range).
  11. Wow... Over 1k, I need to get a bass boat lol.
  12. I am in.
  13. Have you tried fly fishing vest? If you don’t plan to take out large amount of gears, the vest is the way to go. I will have plastics in a pocket, and rest of my stuff in a small Plano box. It works great when I go out for 1-2 hours, and I don’t feel like bringing tons of stuff with me.
  14. Nope, I will pass. I will not trade my kids, wife, and my job for anything. Believe it not, I actually enjoy my work. I would rather fish on the weekend with my family, or my fishing buddies. Trying to fish for a living is too complicated; and I sure don’t like to drive 1000 miles for a tournment. If I want to go away to a fishing trip, then I will just fly out.
  15. Well, I definitely don’t own 23 rods, ha-ha. For a weekend fisherman, and don’t want to carry more than two rods per outing. I usually fish with Jigs/Swim Jigs on baitcaster, and plastics on a spinner reel. Would you use braided lines on the baitcaster, or stay with Yo-Zuri?
  16. Sounds like a lot work just to use braided lines. First, you need to spool mono backing. Then, tie a uni knot and spool the braided to almost full. If I would to fish other applications other than Jigs, and Top water then I need a leader. For weekend warriors, are you guys truly felt there is much advantage using the braided line vs. flouro? I usually don’t take more 2 rods with me, since I am on foot 70% of the times. I will fill my spinning reel with P-line halo, and baitcaster with Yo-zuri (not too happy with Yo-zuri right now, since I lost few decent fish trying to pull it out from the weeds).
  17. Do you fish braid with flouro leader? Or just straight braid?
  18. Most of us are out there fishing for fun or pleasure, 1-2 second delay when switchin hand is not a big conern for me. I have never missed any fish while doing it, on the other hand, my fishing buddy will grill me over it.
  19. does it matter what diameter you put on before the braid? For example, 10lb nano for 40lb Braid?
  20. do you guys spool some mono, before fill it up with braid? and what's the reason behind it?
  21. OK. What are some good lines to purchase? I will add it to my "buy list for the boring winter." I will be using it mostly for Jig(swim Jig) fishing, and occasionally fish shallow crankbaits (with fluru leader).
  22. shimano compre, and shimano citica.
  23. This is going to sound like a stupid question, but will braided line mess up your guides and reel? Here is the quote from the article, “Another very important fact about braided lines is that they have all the qualities of a hacksaw when it comes in contact with rod and reel components. Unless your rod has titanium or another similar material lining the guides, I would not recommend these lines. In more than one instance I have seen the line make serious indentations and abrasions in rod guides. This also applies to line rollers on spinning reels and level winds on bait casting reels. They will be harmed from its ultra coarse texture as well.” http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/braided_mono.html Folks are talking about how great braided lines are, so I wanted to give that a try but after reading this article and I am not too sure anymore…
