  1. Yo-Zuri all day every day....just add KVD L&L and you have darn near the perfect line...
  2. I would swim a jig around the outside edges and down the lanes between the lily pads. I have had great success this getting them to chase it down.
  3. Anytime. But I have my best luck early morning or in the evening.
  4. If your going to do it yourself hear are a few things I do to make sure it all goes ok. Take lots of PICs as you are disassembling and I mean of everything. Up close DO NOT GET IN A HURRY Make sure you have a big table to work on and a big thick towel on the table and I prefer a magnet type bowl for putting the parts in Of course the schematic and last but not least the most important thing....Have Mike from DVT on emergency stand by...
  5. You would be just as well off to take and soak your stock bearings in Acetone and then let them dry on a paper towel and then soak them in alcohol and then let them dry on paper towels again and then add a drop of bearing oil to them. You will be good to go. If you do decide you wan to go the Boca Bearing way then the Orange ABEC7 Sealed bearings on the way. Add a drop of bearing oil to each one and install. I do no run my bearings dry. They do cast father but they make a lot of noise and it really decreases there life in my opinion. Also take into mind that upgrading and or cleaning your bearings will increase performance it will also increase your chances of over runs.
  6. I use fluorocarbon pretty much for everything and use the Palomar knot as well. I have not had any issues with the line or the knot. I use Seaguar InvizX and AbrazX and I am very careful at tying the knot and always make sure I mositen probably way more then I should. I retie after every 2 to 3 fish and check my line for nicks and frays just as often.
  7. It will come thru it, just not as easy as the original swim jig though. I prefer the original.
  8. I consider any day of fishing a good day...
  9. I have done it to save bass and probably would for any fish if I couldn't safely get it removed by other means.
  10. No I don't feel red hooks make any difference at all.
  11. Go with the Lews reel and a *** MH or H action rod. Length is up to you.
  12. If they work and catch fish I just don't worry about going thru them quickly, its part of fishing unfortunately. Especially with smallies. They are not as expensive as some other plastics on the market either.
  13. I would go with a MH in the Duckett rods unless you are fishing some seriously thick nasty cover.
  14. I prefer fluorocarbon for all my jig and plastic fishing.
  15. Strike King KVD spinner baits were some of my first. But my favorites are War Eagle, North Star and Seibert spinner baits now.
  16. I have the Aetos 7' 2" MH/XF rod and absolutely love it. Light sensitive and plenty of backbone. I use it for swim jigs and spinner baits. I have been very surprised. All the guys at our local tackle shop loves the rods and highly recommend them.
  17. I follow quite a few of them. Social Media makes it so much easier.
  18. There is a review on it on ***
  19. I am using a *** *** Black 7' 3" M/F and I also use a Fenwick Aetos 7' 2" MH/XF rod for swim jigs. I mainly throw North Star original swim jigs in 5/16oz.
  20. The letters just refer to the revision of the reel. FA being the oldest and FE being the newest model from the codes you listed.
  21. Agree with RW, Pinnacle makes great reels. I have a Pinnacle Optimus LTE HS reel that I use for pitchin and it has been a great reel with plenty of drag.
  22. I have the Optimus Xi HS and it is an amazing reel. Casts effortlessly and the retrieve is extremely smooth and the drag is powerful and smooth. Very impressed with this reel and my Optimus LTE HS reel at this time.
