Kayak Fishing Rods/reels
I use the same setups from the yak as I do in the bass boat. Some people like haveing the butt section shorter but I have never had a problem. I also use the black pack to help store my stuff.

Kayak Fishing.. Which Position Do You Prefer?
I do both. Nut maily depends on the body of water I am on. If I am floating a moving river I sit and if I need to streatch I get out and wade. If flat water its a toss up what I do. Just depends on my mood. The rides are super stable in my opinion. Due to the hull design of the rides I can stand with no issue and I can even put my foot up on the side without issue of tipping. I have the Ride 115 and use the elivated seat most of the time. Depending on what type of water you will be fishing mostly will depend on what length. for mainly fishing smaller water the 115 will be better. For mainly bigger water like big lakes, bays, and the ocean the longer will be better. The shorter it is the easier it is to get into tight spots and to turn. The longer it is the straighter it will track and the faster you can make it go.

Best Kayak For Us Big Boys ...
I personally use a Wilderness System Ride 115. Im 5' 7" and 260. Its real stable. Depending on what type of water you are going to be fishing depends on length of yak youll want. If its maily open water like lakes and or the bay's/oceans then the longer ones will suit better, in the 13'+. But if you are going to fish maily rivers the shorter in the 11'-12' will be better. Only thing I do not like about the Ride 115 is its weight. I load mine on top of the cab of a 3/4 ton truck and it gets heavy lifting it up above your head.

Fishing From Canoes
I used to fish from a canoe years ago and have since switched to a kayak. I take a long quite a bit of stuff. Im talking 6 or 7 plano 3600's, several pacakages of plastics, and 6 or 7 rods. When I go out catfishing our of the yak I even have a live well for keeping shad and bluegill alive.

Does Anybody Own Rods Or Reels Made Ergonomically Especially For Women?
I personaly dont seeing as I am not a femal. I have though made several specificaly to fit what they have wanted. If you are in the market for one check with a custom rod builder in you area. They should be able to build it to directly fit you and to how you want it.

How Would You Go About Fishing This?
What size stripers are you talking about? Here on Smith Mountain Lake they can get up to 40" + with the average bing in the mid to uper 20" range. Another lake north of SML they only get to be in the mid 20" tops. SML is a clear water lake and zoom super flukes in either white or the pearl ice color is what we use if using artificial.

Ever Lost A Setup In The Lake?
I kayak fish a buch and have lost a couple over the time and so has some friends and family. Lost a setup last sumer in the surf in about 3" of water looked for 20 minutes and couldnt find it. Was more worried about someone stepping on the hooks than I was recovering the rod and real. Last month my father-in-law has an ultralight go over while floating the James River. Snagged the bottom and instead of opening the bail he just sat it down on the kayak and it sling shotted out intot he river. Was able to see it on the bottom and jumped in and was able to retrieve it. If in the kayak I try to clip the rods that are not in use in with a a carabiner and short section of rope. Thankfully never lost anything in the bass boat yet.

Micro Guides
I have some customers who want a rod with micro guides while others don’t care much for them. I can say building a rod with micro guides is a little bit more difficult due to the smaller size I have to work with. Some rods you wouldn’t want micro guides anyways. I've had requests for flipping rods with micro guides. A problem with that is micro guides were originally designed to be used on light to medium rods. They weren’t designed to hold up to 65# line and the strain of pulling lure and fish through lily pads, grass, and other cover. Take a micro guide and try to bend it, not hard to do. Now take a double foot guide and try to bend it, a lot harder to do. With micro guides you get a little more distance as it keeps the line leaving the rod in a more straight line with less play as it goes through the guide. The more play it has the more friction it creates which in turn slows down the line speed faster. The theory of micro guides saving weight is a little bit a myth. A rod with micro guides, when done properly, has more guides than one that has standard guides. Reason it needs more is that fact that the line is sitting closer to the blank and you have to have more to keep line slap from happening. They have their place but aren’t an ideal guide setup for all applications in my opinion.

Oakley Big Bass Tour
I fished the one on Smith Moutnain Lake In VA. It was a lot of fun. They had over 200 boats I think it was. diferent format than a typical tourny. I didnt win anything but had fun none the less.
