  1. I am such a proud husband.... I got home from work and my wife actually told me about this because she saw a post on Facebook about it (I liked TImmy Horton's page).... married a good 'un!
  2. who cares what others think - if you dig it, then wear it.. I understand the points that are being made, not necessarily agree with them all.. Now, if I find a Reese's peanut butter cup jersey OR a Diet Dr Pepper jersey it's a done deal....long as it comes in a 3xl... have fun with it!
  3. I wouldn't doubt if the cost of that key is figured in somewhere
  4. thanks for all the well wishes.... Our other family car is a Tahoe so that's what I have been pulling it with - will probably keep doing this for a while and not risk it with the Tacoma... happy fishing!
  5. My dad was able to buy a new Triton x17 and lucky for me I got to benefit from his good fortune as well.. I now have a bass boat and I am super pumped!! 1995 HydraSports 185E Evinrude 150 Took it out the other day and tried to come out the hole with the motor trimmed up a little too far, lessons learned.. It was really great to be able to go from spot so spot at 50mph and fish on a flat deck with nice trolling motor.. I am so thankful to be lucky enough to hae received this.. I wanted to share this good news! Who thinks a 1998 Toyota Tacoma 2.7L will pull this?
  6. I got two of the 6'8 jerkbait rods and am going to use them for jerks/poppers/blade baits and spooks ... casted them yesterday for first time and compared to what I have been fishing with it is an amazing new world - can't wait to feel the heaviness on the other end of the line.. Merry Christmas! Kev
  7. I got a screaming deal on a Pinnacle LTE (thanks Mr Swim Jig) - it has a 7.3:1 ratio - what would be the best application for this reel?? Walking topwaters, or ripping square bills and traps - or neither?.?
  8. USPS tracking says it was delivered this AM at 1130 - hopefully this dead horse is beat
  9. To say the least I wasn't expecting the harsh tone... I simply intended the post to be informative and didn't intend to sound "whiney" - that being said we can't control how others respond .. only how we respond..
  10. ww2 the words above your picture pretty much say it all
  11. Every reel I own has been purchased for well under $100 and they perform fine for what I need... I am not a tournament fisherman, but like to think I am an above average angler.. I seriously bought Pinnacle Solene for $29 off a pawn store website and it works great for me.. Also have Abu Black/Silver Max reels, Pinnacle LP100, Pinnacle Solene.. I am using super cheap reels, of couse the durability isn't going to be there in the long run but with a toddler and a wife I understand the need for budget minded purchases... FYI Cabelas has the Tournament ZX on sale for $29.99 - usually sells for $79.99.. I ordered 4 so we will see how those work out... Also, try the flea market on here and get more reel for your dollar... just my 2 cents
  12. So a cautionary tale... I decided to put together a fishing grab bag for my dad for Christmas and picked up some trusty tools for his Elite 7 HDIs, rod gloves, and last but not least "The Bait Bar" (mount under storage lid and can hang spinnerbaits, plastics, etc).. Well, I placed the order on Nov 25, didn't hear anything from the company until I sent an email and didn't receive a response, but I did receive an email from PayPal saying that my package was on the way.. I checked the USPS tracking info for several days and all it would say is "electronic shipping info received" meaning I guess they printed a label but hadn't dropped of at post office. After two additional emails that were unreturned I finally opened a dispute with PayPal requesting a refund from the company. I did this on December 12 and I haven't received any communication from the company to date - I checked the tracking number today and the package was dropped at the facility on December 13, interesting.. Supposedly it should arrive tomorrow, I am not an impatient man, but I am not impressed with this company and this transaction. On a more positive note... I purchased a KVD cranking rod from Tackle Warehouse a week before they offered 20% off everything on their site. I emailed them and they responded by offering my a gift certificate for the 20% difference - needless to say I was very impressed and appreciative! So, my wife always says we should talk about someone doing something right, not always about doing something wrong...Does anyone have similar experiences they can share...
  13. what are some ways that you can tell on a cheap fish finder - i.e. I have a Humminbird Wide Potrait that isn't that great, it is black and white so what am I looking for? Also, how can you tell if there is enough DO below the thermocline to support fish, are you just supposed to find structure, ledges, drops, etc and look for fish below... Basically I need a "Thermocline for Dummies" book, you know one of those yellow one's....
  14. I appreciate the help - I bet it is how I hold the line between my fingers.. Also, does it matter that I usually tape the start of the line with Gorilla tape instead of tying an arbor not? I usually put my spool in a shoe and then hold pressure with my fingers..
  15. I have noticed lately when loading new line onto a few of my reels the right side of the spool seems to get more line than the left creating an uneven distribution. I cannot figure out what the deal is -anyone ever had this issue and how did you resolve it?
  16. nevermind, gonna try mending braces
  17. I have an older fiberglass boat and on the port side there are 2 compartments with separate lids - they each have their own fiberglass lid and the compartments are separated but I would like to join the lids so they open as a single unit.. The lids are about 4 inches apart when they are closed - I thought about just using 2 long bolts with lock washers and nuts ... Does anyone have suggestions or has anyone does this before?
  18. thanks for the replies... I amusing 3700 boxes mainly...
  19. I am coming up with a list of possible anniversary gifts for myself and I need tackle bag suggestions.... I am looking for something that can handle around 7-8 boxes, what are you guys using - let me know, preferably under $50... Thanks...
  20. I don't have many crankbaits in my tackle box, I am looking to expand.. I don't have a ton od budget, but would like to focus on maybe 5 crankbaits that I should have.. Let me know if they are square bill, round bill - the model number, color... whatever I need to know... I have very limited knowledge of cranks and would like some help....thanks
  21. don't feel bad... I have no clue what the races on a reel are either...... still not sure I do.
  22. are you hanging the 1x4 horizontal and the hooks are where? I am more of a visual person
