  1. I am happy to see that I am not the only one to get "hooked". Well, you never know until you try, I guess. At least you only bought1 pack Gr8Wall. I bought many. I must admit, it is fun to watch the bluegill look at them though. They'll be going in the bin with my Chatterbaits and a few other lures that never seem to work for me...
  2. Paul, I would go with the rope lights that NEBassMan recommends. I would go with red for the color so that night vision isn't affected. Here are some links: http://www.ledlightworld.com/ledvision.html http://www.residential-landscape-lighting-design.com/store/PPF/parameters/2584_415/more_info.asp This site has the best info. http://www.affordablelighting.com/LED_rope_light_lighting.html I was thinking of putting rope lighting in my deck boat after I saw how good it worked in a limo I was riding in. It's versatile and flexible. Good luck. Tom
  3. I use full size PFDs when fishing alone but I am upgrading to a more comfortable full size. One piece of advice; spend the extra money on a comfortable PFD. I bought some that are good but my main reason for the purchase was that they were on sale. They are comfortable at first but get on my nerves after a while. A PFD does no good lying on the bottom of your boat. I like the belt mounted inflatable ones as well when I am on my boat with others but Alpster makes a very good point about when they should be used. I have never tried the suspender type but I am considering those for summer time use.
  4. Hey Man, don't look so depressed. At least you're fishin'!
  5. NIce fish and Welcome to the forum
  6. I don't have TecH2O gear but I went online to check the Gander Mountain catalog to compare that gear with what I use, which is the Bass Pro Gore Tex rain gear and the Gander Mountain site says that they no longer publish a catalog since Gander Mountain was sold to Holiday Industries. I thought that was odd. Anyway, I would have to say that if the TecH2O gear is breathable or has gore-tex it may be a good purchase.
  7. I would use some Mepps or Rooster Tail spnners in the larger sizes. I have had pretty good luck with them in the past. I would choose white/silver, brass/chartreuse, yellow/silver, green/silver as my basic colors. Make you you read the regs before you go justto make sure you have legal lures and bait. Good luck and I hope you have fun. Tom
  8. Perhaps my mistake was doing it through Yahoo. I have had some e-mails that say the same thing that you are saying Paparock. Thanks.
  9. God Bless America and those that have fought for her.
  10. Well Congratulations Nick Barr! That is very Cool! 8-) Keep up the good work.
  11. Well, my wife took me fishing today. She now has a photo of my CPB..My Cute Personal Best. I caught what must amount to a .5 ounce Bluegill. I was sore after I got home due to my surgery and her driving (please never tell her this if you should ever meet her) but I had a great day. I was planning to call Brush Pile Berry and see if he would want to hang out and fish on shore tomorrow but I have discovered my limitations and will have to wait a week or so before heading over to the lake again. Boating is out for a while. Maybe I'll hit the park pond down the road from me tomorrow....
  12. LBH, Here's an article that explains why they drained it: http://www.awriter.com/tioguelake.html I would assume that it was restocked. Tom
  13. Folks, I finally got around to doing the final set up and restore of my PC yesterday. Some jasper gave my computer a hacking cough and it ate the hard drive. After much fussing and fighting I finally got everything up and running, got all my retrieved data put back on to the computer and then I made a bonehead move: I downloaded Windows Internet Explorer 7 provided by Yahoo. At first it seemed okay and the format was a little hard to get used to and the little insect like icons that flash and change color weren't as bad as was I fussing about until I started clicking links in websites. Everything came to a grinding halt. All of a sudden I was transported back to the State of the Art 56K modem days and beyond. I thought something was wrong with my computer or that maybe some software was inhibiting my access so I spent about another hour reconfiguring and getting rid of suspected links and programs. Still slow as molasses. I made some calls only to find that many people are having the same complaint and it wasn't just the Yahoo version. I tried deleting Internet Explorer 7. After seveal attempts it was still hanging on. Thank goodness for System Restore. I ended up having to go back through the System Restore process to get rid of this so-called Up Grade.... Now, everything seems to be working okay. I won't make that mistake again without doing a little research first. I sure hope they work the bugs out of 7 before people are forced to download it due to internet compatibility.
  14. Well, that settles that...I will not be trying the Eel...
  15. My Dad really liked to fish for carp just for the fight. He used to make peanut butter doughball. Carp love it. I have caught carp upwards of 3' long on that stuff. I will have to see if my brother remembers the recipe as I haven't made that doughball in over 20 years. If I remember correctly you take 1 cup of corn flakes, 1 cup of cornmeal, a little milk or water, a couple tablespoons of peanut butter, a dash of vanilla or sweet anise oil and mix it all up into a dough. You then take the dough, form it into a ball and wrap it in a bandana and boil it until it's very firm. Let it cool and take it fishing. If you have the consistency right it will stay on a trble hook during a hard cast. Oh yeah, I'm glad everything is okay now.
  16. Bass109, That is a pretty big eel. I was talking with my brother and he said that he's caught eels in PA. I caught a huge salamader once when I was a kid. It was about 2' long. My Dad called it a Water Dog and then he killed it because they harm nests and eat fish eggs. That was about 30 years ago though. I am not sure what I would do with an eel if I caught one. Are they edible? Tom
  17. Make sure they are legal where you fish. Some states don't allow them, like CA. Of course CA doesn't allow a lot of things.
  18. I use the spark plug terminal grease that you find in the little red packages on auto parts store counters. It works great and a little goes a long way.
  19. Welcome Cigar Lover I have learned so much here and the folks are outstanding. 8-)
  20. What Murray said!
  21. Good point Avid. I agree with you for the most part but I would like to add that my wife is my best friend. There are things that I wouldn't do with her or want her to involved with like my shooting sports or my work but I would really like it if she would get into fishing with me once in a while. That would be very cool. Granted, I wouldn't want her going with me all of the time but the nice thing is, my wife is the type of person that if I told her I wanted to do something alone she would be okay with that.
  22. I don't know about bait monkey "control" but I do know of one "deterrent".....Her name is Mary. She's my wife. ;D She can see by the look in my eyes that the bait monkey has me under his spell and she quickly snaps me back to reality. Oh, she is okay with me buying the stuff that I need but when she caught me fondling a Shimano Stella the other day she stepped on the bait monkey's tail and sent him packin'.....that reel sure would have looked real good on that G. Loomis rod that me and my bait monkey have been eyeing.
  23. Lucky you! Have a good time and don't forget your camera.
  24. Where do you fish that you catch eel? I have never caught an eel. Your location isn't in your profile.
  25. It's too bad that you can't eat the fish but the reality is that you probably could once in a while with no ill efects. I think I would risk it on those perch. Tom
