  1. Isn't that just a carolina rig with a split shot?
  2. I believe that most fluorocarbon lines are more difficult to manage than mono lines.
  3. Nice. What kind of set up are you using?
  4. Wow, you have a lot of new toys to try out
  5. Dang it Felix, you beat me to it!
  6. I think that Rick Clunn said something about positive energy transfering down the rod....but I am not sure I am sold on that theory.
  7. The above posts are correct, you should never set the hook when using a circle hook. However, if you just reel in and tighten the line, they are very effective. I use circle hooks for dropshotting and have no problem. They can be used for live bait and plastics. The only learning curve is to not set the hook like you would normally. I switched to circle hooks after gut hooking a fish. Circle hooks have less chance of hurting a fish and most of the time will hook on the corner of the mouth.
  8. I also bought one from Cabela's last year. Although I am not an expert on baitcaster reels, I like my Hibdon reel a lot. I don't have any issues with the line laying unevenly (as long as you thread the line under the leverwind bar). I have used it plenty this winter but have only caught 2 fish. I will hopefully put it through a workout this season. Also, the value will depend on how much you are paying for it. I also got mine for a relatively cheap price.
  9. I talked to Zack (I think) at Megastrike and he said that the crawfish is mainly for bass and the original formula will work for all species. So I got 2 tubes of crawfish and 1 original. I did notice that the original is more of a neutral scent than the crawfish.
  10. Your guarantee is good enough for me. I look forward to catching some big fish with the help of your product!
  11. Try canned corn or bread ball on a hook. I have caught grass carp on it with success. I assume that they would work with Asian carp too. 00 Mod, that is a monster carp that you got there...did you snag it?
  12. Yes, I waited overnight before reapplying. I'll give it another shot tonight.
  13. I just got some KVD line conditioner last week, and I treated my spinning reel (with Suffix Elite 10lb) 3 times (5 sprays to cover the whole spool). When I pull the line off, I still see loops and coils. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to soak the spool with more conditioner?
  14. I just got my tubes of Megastrike. I can't wait to try out when it gets warmer. I hope they work as well as advertised!
  15. I love Okuma reels. I was really interested in this reel when it was first announced. But to answer your question, the handle should be a push through, and secured by a screw in cap on the other end. I hope to play with one in person soon. I am curious to see what a carbon frame feels like.
  16. I feel that it is easier to load my glass rod. I don't have to swing quite as hard as my graphite rod with the same power rating.
  17. Both my spinning and casting reels have the handles on the left. I like to keep things simple and standardized.
  18. Never caught one at night, but is it as much fun fighting and pulling the fish in if you cannot see in the dark? Part of the fun for me is to watch the line zig zag to the right and left. But I suppose a fish in the dark is better than none at all.
  19. The rods are on sale for $50, what would you all say at that price?
  20. I vote for the new fishing buddy!!!
  21. Me too... As for the hook, Trokar hooks are "really" sharp.
  22. What weight lure are you using? I know that when I was first learning, I practiced with a 3/4 oz lure. It helped with the casting. Heavy is easier than light.
  23. Set the drag properly and use a net when it gets close to the boat/bank. If the bass is in open water, I would rather the drag be too loose than too tight. But I will tighten up the drag a bit if the hooked bass is heading toward branches/lily pads to guide it back into an open area.
  24. Welcome to the forum and that is a scary looking snakehead....one day i'm gonna get me one!
