  1. doing things your way with excellent results is a very rewarding feeling.
  2. I'm going to have to try the grub and jig again I used to swim them when I was bank fishing all the time.great smallmouth tactic here in oregon.
  3. I think all of us tend to get caught up in the latest and greatest.I will admit that trying new stuff is part of the fun but going back to something that works is also fun and productive. I catch just as many fish with the classic spook as I did with my bonnies.I forgot how great a spook walks.
  4. anyone else ever go back to fishing a certain way or product they may have left behind.I recently switched back to using copoly lines.I was using fluro almost exclusively but was unhappy with the amount of break offs I was having when fishing the rocky bottoms of most of the lakes and reservoirs I fish.I used to love fishing zara spooks but started leaving them behind on trips in favour for sammys and bonnies.back to fishing the spooks over the rest.I guess things come back around at least for me they did.
  5. all my new custom j&j tackle jigs that I will throw on my powell 804 when it gets here.a few soft body swimbaits and various top water baits.spring needs to get here fast.
  6. 7'6" mh fast.I have a powell 804 on the way to use for c rigs and pitchin can't wait.
  7. rods for sure and line.line is my spending addiction its the one thing I really like to play around with.
  8. one of my sponsors j&j tackle makes great punch skirts, detailed skirts and all punch skirts and jigs are wired wrapped and banded.
  9. can you please let me know if the spiderwire in your opinion is more sensitive than other monos.
  10. I was at my local indoor swap meet and bought 11 various top water poppers in the original packages for 10.00.I was wondering if anyone has used these lures or if anyone might know if they are worth anything. they say that sam griffin hand crafted the lures and all of them are wood.
  11. I fished jigs on the new lightning rod 7mh with fluro and was really surprised at the sensitivity the rod had for 40.00.I would have no problems fishing this rod as my every day jig and worm rod.
  12. owner stinger hooks and the kvd mustad are both good choices
  13. I use the trout pattern the most on a screw lock swimbait hook.I then take some 50 lbs braid and tie it to the belly of the hook then tie it to a treble hook and push one hook point in the bottom of the bait leaving two points exposed. been doing this to my hollow belly swimbaits for a couple years with great success.
  14. okuma cayenne and a quantum tour edition are the two i use when pictching.i want to get a new reel with a stouter drag for this next season
  15. okuma stratos spinning reels are very good and are only about 40.00 from dicks.I bought one the night before a tournament when my previous reel was giving me problems.smooth and light weight worth taking a look at
  16. thanks for all the info and informing me of the actual name of the knot.it has been reliable I do agree that more wraps with smaller diameter line is better which is something I should have stated in the video.
  17. yes,im not sure of the actual name of the knot but was always told it was a double double uni knot when joining two lines together
  18. I've had a numerous people ask me how to tie a double double uni-knot. I found a video on how to do it. The link for the video is at the bottom of this page. Here is the Link and thank you for watching.
  19. Do you have preference on rod length. I really like the endurance 755cb.I don't own one but have used this rod on several outings and was happy with the rods performance. I feel I may be bias because I am also a powell guy.
  20. I use braid for everything.prior to last year I was only using braid for heavy cover and frogs.I absolutely love braid when using cranks.it allowed me to have great hook sets by just continuing to reel and pulling my rod to the right.I do believe having a softer rod is important when using cranks with braid.I tie a 2 foot section of 8 to 12 fluro to my 30 pound braid mainline.the benifits to me with braid are easier hook sets and improved casting distance. I love braid for lipless cranks when fishing grass .my crankbait fishing has improved since switching to braid I seem to pin more fish than I did when using mono.
  21. mudhole sales a grass head.it has spots to glue eyes on.they come unpainted not sure if you wanted to do your own painting or not.
  22. powell max 703 spinning rod with a president reel would be a sweet combo.I have the powell 703 and its an awesome rod.another great reel that is less expensive than the president is the trion
  23. if you go on youtube and type in fishing the pnw and look at his spinning rod setups video he gives a review of that rod.he seemed to really like it
  24. the s956711 from cashion looks like a really nice rod.it has micros not sure if you have a preference in guides or not.
  25. I really like a doubled up double uni for attaching my fluro leaders to braid.I also snell any straight shank hook and palomar everything else.
