Am I Damaging My Reel?
Short answer is yes. Anytime you use a product outside of what it's intended purpose is for, you will cause excess wear and tear. Imagine throwing your pickup into park running 75 down the Hwy. If you want to stop the bait use your thumb on the spool.

Ci4's Side Plate
I've only seen one video where the side plate was removed to see the breaking system on the new Ci4 Chronarch. It wasn't attached to the reel like the previous line of reels. Was this because it was a demo model, or are the new models not attached?

Picture Thread
The trigger is 10x smoother than a bone stock 226. If it wasn't for that bastardized 250, the 20 series would have taken off much better.

Preferred Fluoro Pound Test For Medium To Shallow Cranking
I've been debating, going back and forth etc on what to use for cranking. Braid or fluoro. I've been using braid for the last year or so and want to try fluoro now. I'm curious to see what is the prefered pound test. I rarely use cranks that run below 10 feet. I run Squarebills 90% of the time when cranking. I just bought a spool of 20# Tatsu to test out on my jig rod and thought about giving it a shot. I've seen Horton and Clunn, both talk about running 20# for Squarebills around timber etc. I also have some 14# XPS fluoro. Thanks in advance

Shimano Size 50 Baitcasters
If y'all are on FB and Twitter, follow Mercer and Zona. Both dropped hints and videos there before the new Ci4 really came out.

7.0.1 Or 7.1.1 Reel For Topwater...on 7 Or 7'3"?
I agree and disagree here bud. I won't use anything slower than a 7 gear for jigs for this reason, but at the same time, I'm not that old, but I can remember when all you could fish with were 5 gear reels. Dad and I caught 1000's of LM and SM bass with them and I don't remember loosing very many fish. I'm no pro and was a little kid, but I d**n sure didn't loose "fish after fish"

Shimano New Ci4+ Series
"If you build it, they will come" People buy the Citica mainly because they don't want to jump to the 160-200 mark. Logic states that you build a 50 in a Citica, it will sell. I'd like to see black reels. Black on black on black without jumping to the Core.

Need Leader Advice
I split the braid poundage in half and use that pound of fluoro. 40# braid to 20# fluoro etc. Your right, adding a lower pound fluoro loader goes against using braid for the strength properties. If the water is clear and you have to use a leader, your using the leader for stealth or abrasion resistance, not for its strength. It's a catch 20. I use braid not for the strength, but rather the line management. It outlasts mono and fluoro and has ZERO memory.

Jig Trailers
Craws or swim jig trailers? For Craws I use Rage Craws from Strike King and Pure Craws from Bass Assassin. Xcite Baits have some Craws too. For swim jigs I use The Strike King Shellcracker, Menace and the Berkley Havoc Pit Boss. .

Casting Light Lures Far!!!
Try using Power Pro Slick braid In around 4-6 pound. It wount hold any memory and might give you and increase in distance. Also drop your bait 20" below the rod tip. It will help it load more, thus giving your increased distance.

Cheney, Ks And Other South Central Ks Lakes
Cheney is a great lake. Its been so long since I've been up there I can't remember where the hot spots are. be careful though, I have helped pull 2 bodies from that lake. They average 5-6 a year drown out there. Pratt is my all time favorite lake next to Wilson Lake. September-January I've had the best of luck running a red crawfish color medium 6-8 foot running crank near the spill way. When you enter the lake, turn left or north. Circle around to the first pier on the NW side of the lake. I run the bank facing west about 15 feet off the shore. I caught my PM LM at just under 6 pounds there and many Wiper over 20 plus in that area. If you drive out on the island and hit the NW side of it near the telephone pole, there is a large brush pile that is full of crappie. Anything chartreuse with black heads works well for me. My last favorite spot is on the far SW side of the lake. 3rd pier. Cast off towards the play ground area and about 30 feet out are 9 telephone poles Dad and I buried back in the early 90's. Its full of Bass. dads PB of 8 plus came from that area. I use brown and green jigs near those poles and clean house.

Swim Jig Question
I haven't used the originals to compare it too, but I really don't have any trouble ripping it threw any grass. It's rounded pretty good.

Swim Jig Question
I haven't found a way that doesn't work yet. Slow roll with a bob here and there of the tip, dragging the bottom the whole way in, burning it just under the surface, jumping it off the bottom or just like a shaky head. The bite is a vicious one. That's why I love jigs so much.

Northstar Jigs
Try the flip n swim jigs. They have several colors in stock. I prefer them over the original swims

Jig Fishing Questions
If I had to choose either of just those two, I'd go fluoro for the less stretch and slack line detection. I prefer straight braid for stained water and braid/fluoro leader for clear.

I try not to jump on the perverbial bandwagon when new stuff comes out, but this worm really has me pumped. I'm thinking on the back of a swim jig too
