  1. Thanks for the info guys. I have some good idears now.
  2. I may have came off like a jerk, but my comment was not made to sound like I doubted what you heard or were told. I was talking about the dude from Shimano. When he says depending on use, ya I could see a tourney fishermen or someone who fishes 5 plus hours a day 7 days a week needing to replace them, but even so, if that were the case we would be hearing more about it is all.
  3. Where I come from we call that theft and your warrant will be in the mail lol Nice grab. I'd say it should hold you for a few months
  4. Also to add, remember 1/4 oz is a light spinner bait. That couple with spinnerbaits act like a sail when being casted can produce some backlashes. I use 1/2 only that reason. One more thing. If you watched Glenn's video on fluke casting with a BC, he gives the bait more line before the cast. Drop the bait 20" or so below the rod tip on a lighter bait and it will help generate more power when you cast.
  5. There is no set time. Braid just doesn't go bad or have a shelf life. Exposure to sun water and different air climates can alter its state. The amount of casts, the type of cover your fishing all play into it. Basically, just check the line every trip (20-30 yards) up into the spool and look for frays, nicks etc. braid will fade over time so don't get to discouraged if it looses its color. Another thing to check is your knot. Make sure it's retied every so often and a good one. Most fish as lost to knot failure over line failure.
  6. This seems to be your MO. Someone calls you on something and you lash out and go crying away. Then make 10-12 posts crying why you got bashed or trashed for your opinons. Not to mention you get way off the original topic and go to something completely different? Am I close? To the OP, I did a bunch if research on the Chronarch E's and the Curado E's before I decided to settle on them. This was the first I've heard of that problem. The guy at Shimano had to be mistaken as if people had to replace the part every year, the reel would have never gotten to be as popular as it is now. Just my 10mm worth.
  7. Well I took my new to me, 8' out a couple days ago. If I had a hand gernade on me, I wouldn't be making this thread. I have to get a rudder for the rear. I had no control over the boat and the slightest breeze just sent me on a never ending tail spin. Does anyone sell one completed or have the plans to build one?
  8. Agreed. And his intro to his show is kinda 90's Mr. Rogers feel. But he has lost some serious weight. I'm really starting to drool over this new Ci4. My only qual is last year at icast we were introduced to the new Revos from Abu. I jumped on the wagon and ended up dumping every Abu product I had. I hope Shimano did their homework on this little hunny.
  9. Braid and the shaw Grigbsy knot. I have yet to break it.
  10. X2I use Frogger, Brown Craw, Insanity, Black n Blue and Alimony for Black Series. That pretty much has the entire color spectrum covered for me. Greens Browns blues and blacks all mixed. For the flip n swims I use Salsa, New Gill, Mistake and a custom crappie color. That pretty much has it covered color wise for me. I use 1/2oz only for all my jigs. Here is a link to a good thread here on Jigs and Jig fishing. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/12403-jig-fishing-questions/
  11. I have no dealings with Megastrike other than their scent, but North Star is my go to for jigs. Like mnbassman23 said, NSCB is having their 20% off sale till the 7th. Be a good time to jump on some and try it out.
  12. Me personally on the blacks, I leave them be. If I want a thinner profile I go with the knock out series which are 33 strands I believe. I never trim my skirts. I like a bigger profile with movement in the water. That's just my 10mm worth. Hope this helps.
  13. The skirts on the black series are supposed to be really thick. They are 66 stands. The rubber is where the action comes from.
  14. Were they the Black Series Jigs with the living rubber?
  15. Did it look like this? If so, its the Gloomis logo
  16. Hes full of pee and vinegar yes, but he means well. Everyone I have talked to that has met him, says hes a good guy.
  17. I will probably grab one on 6 pay from BP when they come out for grins, but I love my E's to death. I just bought a 200E5 this morning lol
  18. Thanks guys. i went to Home depo and could only find carpet that was about 35 dollars for what I needed. I may try walmart tomorrow and see if I can get it cheaper
  19. I am alittle biased in that I really don't care for micro guides at all. I do have an Avid and I love it to death. Mine is the cranking model, but love everything about it. TW should be having their sale any day now and you can get the AC68MXF for around your price range.
  20. Thanks for all the help guys. I really appreciate it. I'm dead set on a 745 now. Come on sales!
  21. I'd truths paddle tails. North Star Baits is having a sweet 4th sale coming up. Be a good time to jump on some quality jigs at a reduced price!
  22. I'm trying to make a deck for my pelican and am looking for the grey marine carpet. I've looked at a few places locally with no luck. Where do y'all usually pick it up? Thanks
  23. Your a funny guy. I haven't and won't ever make a personal attack. Your post is of your personal opinion. Plain and simple. I disagree. Now move on unless you have to have the last word. Then by all means please do!
