  1. Ive owned several in the past. I still have my Silver Max. I found they are much better suited as a pitching only reel than casting.
  2. Crossing my fingers as mine should arrive today. Its being paired with a 7' medium micro guide Veritas.
  3. I've never seen anyone move a school of fish. Try a top water fluke spook or Popr. I use the popr's and spooks when they are schooling the bait fish. I get fish everytime. I just throw it right out in the middle or past them. Keep in mind, while there are alot of big fish hitting the bait fish, the majority are dinks.
  4. I have used Suffix 832, Power Pro and Spider Wire EZ braid. All 3 were great quality and strong as could be. Power Pro felt like a chain saw blade going through the guides. So did spider wire. I ended up going with 832 as my primary as its super smooth. Power Pro has a slick braid out but I haven't tried it yet. I back mine with 50-60 yards of cheap #12 mono with an improved albright knot.
  5. Pull the cap off and see if the brass ring is still there. There is a tiny bump on one side. It goes facing the reel. I have to really crank down hard on mine even with small jig.
  6. For 3/8 oz and smaller stuff I use my Berkely Shock rod 7' MH. For larger I use my 7'11" Heavy Veritas. Both are super light.
  7. If you like the SX you will love the STX. I have 2 in 7.1:1. Dual breaking system on them.
  8. I have a bunch of the 3 and 4 inch minnows that I use. Results are really good.
  9. I have like half a plano box of them. Maybe 15 or so. Cranks are one of my favorite baits, but the cost sucks on them. I was fishing with Ok Bass Hunter this week and that dude has like 6 boxes stuff full of them. I think its time to get more stuff
  10. I have about 20 made just like this lol
  11. Thanks. I will do this with both reels and test it out next week.
  12. Small tube that matches my jig. Rage chunks match up really well
  13. That looks like a really fat knot. Give the Improved Albright knot a try. Its very thin and easy to tie.
  14. Your right too snook. I average about 50 yards on a good cast but there are times in open water that a little further would help
  15. Both are STX Revos. Both are brand new. I have blown all the bearings out with air and put a tiny drop of oil on them. Spool shaft has some light oil at both tips. I run 3 breaks on and 3 off. I set the spool control to where the bait falls about 1 foot a second. As for the mag breaks, they are all off.
  16. I used 50# too. Didn't see any difference that I could tell. I kinda wanted to stay away from mono. I don't like the stretch for running popr's.
  17. I have fondled the Lews a few times, they are fantastic reels. Very smooth and feel very solid. That said, I went with the new Revo s. I know how to work on Abu's and the new look it dead sexy.
  18. Give a man a hamburger he eats for a day. Give a man a Chronarch, he eats for a life time!
  19. The MGX looks beautiful, but for that price I may have treat it like a good stripper. Look but no touch
  20. I hear ya. Luckily my local Bass Pro had one to look at. Mine will be here tomorrow of you want any measurements etc
  21. Hey all. Have a question about the Boca Orange seal bearings when using braid. I've done a bunch of searching and can't pin down the question. I have two of the same reel. One with 30# braid and the other with 12# fluoro. The reel with 30# braid is my top water rig. Same lure with both reels will go 15-20 feet further on a cast when using fluoro. I've tested to see if it's the reel or rod. Same rod and I switched the line on both reels. Basically the fluoro will cast further. That being said, I was thinking about switching out the bearings on my top water reel to the Orange seal bearings. I don't want to switch away from braid on my top water rig as its almost perfect for what I use it for. So guys using orange seal bearings with braid, did you notice a major increas in distance when you switched to the Boca's? Thanks in advance
  22. Operation Revo S is done for me! Bought mine from BP online today. I have 2 STX's Gen 2. I seriously doubt I will upgradet them for the new ones. These are sooooo smooth and sweet.
  23. You can go straight braid if you want to or just run some electrical tapeon the spool. I would however back it with some mono. I use 12# mono to back it. I prefer to go with something that has a stand out color that is opposite of my braid color. You will never use all the braid on a spool. I would back it to save the braid.Never know when you are going to have to break off, backlash or just need to replace the line. Having the extra on the main spool left will help save funds.
