Good Flurocarbon For Spinning Reels?
I think braid was made for spinning reels. Joking aside I use #15 pound braid which is like 4# mono with a 12# mono leader. No line memory, no line jumping off the spool and everything is super smooth.

Academy Sports Jack Pot
I think so. I am pretty happy with what I got. Should last for awhile. Ah, its only a few miles I am going to do the same anymore. I have been buying one or two things per paycheck and slowly stocking up. I spent less yesterday and got 20 times as much as I normally do at full retail

What King Of Line Are You Using For Pitching?
I should add that I am using a 7' MH rod. Will there be a major difference in moving up to a longer rod?

What King Of Line Are You Using For Pitching?
I have been using braid for pitching with my Silver max and doing pretty good distance wise. I still have alot to learn. I tied on a 10' foot leader so I could use this with swim jigs as well. After attaching the leader. my distance is limited. For kicks, I grabbed my 7'6" cranking rod that has straight fluoro and set it up and pitched with it. Man, the distance almost doubled. So what are most of you using for pitching? Thanks in advance

Looking For A New Rod What Do You Guys Recommend.
Here is an idea. Head down to Walmart and grab and feel the Berkley Lighting Shock rod. 39.99. They are very nice rods for the money. Not sure of Berkley's warranty, but walmarts is bar none with a receipt. Split cork grip, 40% exposed reel seat, hook keeper on top, 3 models to choose from and again that 40 dollar price tag is nice. They have a 6'6" medium fast, 6'6" MH and a 7' MH. I would suggest the 7' MH for a general all purpose rod. Stiff backbone and still fast enough tip that I can throw 4" swimbaits with a 1/8 oz hook without any problem. If decide you don't like the rod, I almost guarantee you can sell it here or eBay and break about even.

I Think Im A Abu-Garcia Guy Now
I hear ya on that one. I started with a Silver Max as the deal was too good to pass up. While its not a revo by any means, I really like it. I bought a Pro Max NIB off eBay for 37 dollars last week and scored two like new Black Max's off the flea market here last week too. Last night bought a Revo STX and C3 from the flea market here too. I'm starting to scare myself lol

Academy Sports Jack Pot
I needed some line today and Bass Pro didn't open until 9am so I stopped off at Academy. They were having a close out and sale on a bunch of fishing stuff. The Bomber model A in chartreuse and sunrise craw were 23 cents each. They had 14 left and bought them all. Cordell lipless cranks in silver and crawfish color were 33 cents a pop. Bought all 9 they had. H2O brand hollowed body swim baits. 4 in a pack 6" 5" and 4" for 88 cents a pack. I bought 8. H2O brand 1/8 oz swim bait hooks 5 in a pack for 23 cents a pack. All they had were 4 got em all. This was the icing on the cake. Packs of 1/16 oz brown and green shaky head jigs. 5 in a pack. 1 cent per pack. Got all 15. GY senkos 5" green pumpkin with black and gold flake for 88 cents a pack. Bought all 12. Same brand and color as above in 5" Senko swims for 88 cents a pack. Bought all 6. Guy said they have sales like that all the time. There is still a shet pot of stuff left if anyone is interested. It's the Academy in Edmond Oklahoma

Cranking Setup Dilemma
My cranking set up is a 7'6" MH Veritas with a Pro Qualifier in 4.7:1 ratio. I love this rod. It was my first Veritas rod. Since I have ordered 2 more. I have been throwing the smaller Bomber 1/4oz medium divers and man does that rod launch the crank. I have yet to use anything over a 1/2 oz crank as I dont have the deep waters from shore to do so. I am very happy with my set up.

Question For Texans
Go somewhere near a Prison. Texas DOC pays very well and most times requires little to no experience to get hired. Lengthily background though. It's a state job. You will not get transferred like Federal. You will be employed through any economy crash too. Plus once you get trained should you decide to move, you can always transfer to another Texas state prison. Most prisons are in smaller communities

Which Veritas Rod
I just bought the 7'6" MH Winch model and am in love with it. I have decided after reading and talking with people from Abu and TW that I am going with the 7' Micro Guide for top water and for weighted plastics and jigs I am going to do with the 7'3" MH. With that 7'6" rod, I am amazined how far I can cast a small crank.

Jimmy Houston Tearing It Up On Pearl Dinger Wacky Style
Latest episode of Jimmy Houston outdoor had him fishing with his son. They started using rattle traps and eventually started using the Peal Yum dingers wacky rigged with O-ring during pre-spawn. They were tearing it up!

50# Braid Kinda Acts Like A Sail
I have always run 15# on my spinning gear but wanted to try it with my BC reels too. I went with 50# off recommendations from here due to the digging in. Guess I should have researched it more. I do like the titanic bit though!

Powell Diesel Rods, Anyone Taking A Chance?
Not to poke a stick but do you have any basis for saying they are more sensitive than the Veritas or Shock? My Veritas is pretty d**n sensitive. Even my Shock is pretty sensitive

18 wow. I never thought I would have lasted 11. I have days where I wonder. The puge divers always seem to get further ahead with less work.

It Seems To Me
Ive worked in Law Enforcement for almost 11 years now. 4 of that inside a Max Prison. Getting compliments from bosses being there are so many of them are few and far between. My old man (retired 29 year LEO) told me that if you need a pat on the back, go work at McDonalds. Your paycheck each month etc is your reward. Not changing the door codes on you at work is your reward. That badge on your heart means that you have the integrity and what it takes to do the job over someone else. The saying goes not everyone can be a cop. Not everyone can be a Dr, lawyer, sales, own their own business etc etc etc. The fact that you have been doing something at the same job for a length of time without getting fired, wrote up etc and get paid is your pat on the back. I will take 1 thank you from a civilian over 1000 pats on the back from a supervisor. Twice in my career I was chewed out for being out of uniform followed up by two different sets of stripes pinned on my collar. No pat on the back or attaboys at work compares to that. Yesterday I got 4 brand new tires on my truck. Went to Bass Pro and bought me the rod I have been researching for months. I did this because I have money from the job I bust my butt at 40 plus a week that I don't get pats on the back for where I d**n sure am not appreciated like I should be. But with that said the tires and rod..........that's my pat on the back
