  1. I hate to take away from Bass Pro but they charge 5-6 dollars more for the 7 foot MH as compared to the others. Walmart is 39.99 for all 3 Walmart seems to be the place to get them. I would check them over very good as the clientele there will tear stuff up
  2. I feel stupid for asking this, but why are people switching?
  3. my mistake man. Auto correct sucks. I meant cranking lol
  4. No matter how big or small you are, when you catch a fish half your size....That's a nice fish!
  5. Not so much brand and price, but what makes a good cranking rod.
  6. I thought about getting one in KU blue to stir the pot while fishing here on OU country but the guys at Bass Pro said save your money or buy their cheap in house mega cast reel.
  7. They are nice for 1/4oz drop shotting, 4" weightless Senkos and small jitterbugs.
  8. Humm. That sounds interesting. I have a bucket of busted plastics I have a hard time getting rid of. This may be a cool winter project.
  9. Black blue and green pumpkin. I cant seem to get anything else to produce.
  10. Gotcha. Not to familiar with them. I was wanting something with the slot kn the belly but didn't want to spend the money on Yums. When I gave my kid a bath tonight, they seemed like they had a lot of action in the tail. Thanks man. Ive got some Mustad 4/0 1/4 oz with spring lock I will try. Sounds like I may need some 5/0
  11. Anybody ever use these? I picked up a pack of them from Bass Pro today. 4.99 for 5.
  12. If thats the hardest decision you have made all year, I want your life brother!
  13. Not sure what size 30 pound braid equals to in mono, but I match it up with the same diameter as mono. . I use 50# braid and #15 pound fluoro leader which is about 12# mono. I have no basis for this but I figure you can't go wrong with using everything in the same diameter.
  14. This is just my take. I have switched all but one set up to braid with an 8 foot fluoro leader. I am so frustrated with coiled up line with memory, its taken the joy of fishing away. I had used mono only all my life up until last year. I used just about every mono I could find tying to keep line memory down. It was so bad on my spinning rods, I would spend more time dealing with tangled lines than I did fishing. I switched one set up to fluoro last year and had some good success. I only used that rig about 10-12 times so I didn't notice the memory much. About 3 months ago I switched everything over to fluoro. The more I started using it, the more I hated it. This was before I got turned on to the KVD line conditioner. With the recommendation of several people here, I respooled and used the conditioner. I did notice some difference but not enough to make me drop my pants for. I went through 3 brands before I gave up. I have switched to braid and so far am very happy. My distance has increased dramatically, I have had much fewer backlashes, and the sensitivity has blown me away. I love it for top water. Floats decent and I don't have to work my poppers near as hard as I do with mono.
  15. I have 3 Lighting Shock Rods now. Just bought my 3rd today. I love em. Until I break one, I will continue to talk them up. I would have never thought to try them if it weren't for high praises here. I have started to disregard the reviews on certain manufactures and sporting good store websites. Never know if the person was just madder than hell when they wrote it. At least here you somewhat know the person doing the review. They are praised here and made me feel better about buying one. I wish they had one shorter than 6 foot more like 4-5 foot. I'd set my son up on one and let him test it. He can break anything. He has an Ugly Stick for that very reason. Nothing lasts around him!
  16. In my short time using braid, I haven't noticed a difference when using a leader or not. Common sense tells me that I should so I do.
  17. Man I got a hellova deal x3 today. Stopped off at Walmart today to pick me up a rod. They got a new shipment in yesterday and called to say they had more of the 7' MH Berkley Lighting Shock rods in stock. I know the manager at the sporting goods counter from several previous trips. He called my cell and said they were in and on the shelf. Found the rod and decided to shop around some more. I have been wanting to try drop shoting and need a good spinning rod but dont want to break the bank. I'm really fond of the Abu spinning rods. They had three Cardinal 400I combos. 6'6" medium with split grip and balanced perfect. No tags on them. There were 3 left in the corner. Asked the manager and he came back 10 minutes later and said how bout 25 bucks???? Needless to say I snaged that bugger up. Came home to find them online for 60 bucks. They have two more and Im half tempted to get another one. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Abu-Garcia-Cardinal-400I-Spinning-Combo/20563571 It gets better! Last year I wanted a 6' medium rod for fishing top water around the fishing docks. I found a good deal on a Agu Garcia Conolon Premier at Walmart for 25 bucks. I love that rod. Cork grip, hook keeper on the top of the rod, fat back bone that I like and great fast tip. Well they had 3 more in the same corner as the combo above I got. No tags on them. Manager said for you since your getting a few things and will be back.................5 bucks!!! Only had one 7' MH or I would have bought every single one. This is a very stiff rod. I have beat the crap outta my 6' Conolon and its about as tuff as my ugly stick. I have hoisted 4 and 5 pound hybrid bass off the water to the dock and no issues. This is going to be my frog rod. And its gets even better. Normal price on the Shock rods are 39.99. While we were ringing eveything up, he (not me) noticed a small about 1/4" piece of cork was buggered on the grip. He told me to get another. Dammit if it wasnt the only 7" MH they had left. He said no worries and knocked off 20 bucks!!! I walked out of there with a package of ribbit frogs, two spools of 832 braid, 2 rods and one combo for 70 bucks and change. Man it was a good day!!
  18. Are you guys expecting to be able to keep them in stock after the initial release? I will try and get the order out asap when they are listed
  19. I got my son a trigger cast reel. The spin cast were harder for him. He ends up casting it 30 yards perfect in front of him or 30 behind him. All or none, no happy medium. I am thinking about putting a 3" swim bait weightless on his rod. Watch the fishing reports for Jacobs 5 pound monster lol
  20. I have never used the GY Senkos. To expensive for me. I have several Yum Dingers and the BPS Stick O's. I cant tell a difference in either of the two. I tend to stick with the BPS as they give me more reward points
  21. How does this differ from the o-rings
  22. We have a lot of those docks at lake Hefner in OKC. They are fun to fish but the ones around here get fished so hard its slim pickens. I would also hit the shore areas around the docks too. I have pulled some good size LM out of Hefner off top water poppers 50-75 feet from the docks
  23. My son is 5 and in the "daddy let me show you something " stage. We just got through the why stage last year. It drove me nuts but being as I only have him 40% of the year, I welcome all the jabber. After having him for the week I'm Kinda ready for a break. 5 minutes after I drop him off I'm calling to talk to him on the 2.5 hour car ride. My exwife and I have facetime on our Iphones and its a free call so we jabber all the way back. Jacob is still in the legos are life stage but has been begging me to go fishing and cast our poles in the front yard all the time. Little turd is getting really good.
  24. I agree 100% I passed on the Veritas MH for now. It was really stiff for what I wanted. I think its closer to a H.
