  1. We fished form the dock here and got 1 the wind was so strong we didn't put the boat in not sure when we will get the boat in...did real well in KY last weekend...
  2. We did fish them around the timber and other baits we spent hours around the timber and got a few fish but when we moved to other parts of the lake that were not as deep we found more fish...
  3. Water was stained pretty good had tons of flooding we saw water more stained at some of the public lakes though. If we would have started fishing the pattern we finished with I think we could have got 20.
  4. Me and my brother fished deer creek lodge in KY which is South of Evansville about 40 miles. They have a 30 acre lake filled with the Tiger Bass (Fla/Northern Cross) We had several goals i mind I wanted to see how the lake compared to our private lake and I wanted to see how the tiger bass compared to our bass plus we wanted to try and get some big fish. The people were great and the lodge was 5 stars all the way very nice operation. The lake is as I said 30 acred and filled with stumps and standing timber there are stumps just below the water all over the lake. Those people that just like to bass fish ever so often to relax this would not be a great place for them it's for the serious bass fisherman. My brother bent 7 hooks for example and we got stuck on stumps 8 or 9 times they told us before we went out that it will happen. They provided a 18 foot boat with foot control trolling motor. We fished on Monday and the end of the week before they had 6 inches of rain and the morning we fished a storm came through and dumped a lot more rain we waited a hour and 1/2 for the storm to pass then went out.(the temp had also dropped about 8 degrees from the day before) We started out pitching soft plastic into the timber and got a few fish but it wasn't working as well as we would like. About lunch time we got a 4 pounder and though things would pick up the next hour was slow. I said I'm going to fish like we did on our lake and we put on some KVD crankbaits left the timber and went to a end of the lake that had the dam and less timber and started throwing crankbaits. The action really picked up then and we got a few very nice fish in the boat. we ended up with 15 fish for the day a 6 pounder 2 4 pound bass and a few 3 pounders. My brother hooked a monster fish off the dam that was far bigger then anything we had got so far and he got it about 70% to the boat and it wrapped him around a cement block under water and he couldn't get the fish in. I have no doubt that with a little better conditions you could boat 50 bass in a day here and have a good shot at a trophy fish.
  5. We are going to fish the lake at Deer Creek Lodge in KY in a little over a week has anyone ever fished it? I know some guys got 66 and a 8.5 pounder about a week ago with some 70 degree days between now and when we fish should help warm the water up some. we fish every weekend and some weeks 5 days but this trip ment we had to get new line..they said to use braded and of course new reels for the 2 St. Croix rods I got over the winter and enough soft plastics and related equpment to last all season.... Alan
  6. Indiana the private one I live on (100 acres) not many lakes in Indiana produce 10 pounders. In terms of Public Lakes I would vote for Lake Wawasee or Lake Monroe.
  7. On our private lake in Central Indiana (north of Indy) we had been getting fish at the mouth of a channel and at the back of a deeper channel.(the fish I posted) The bite was strong on KVD and the bigger fish came on a deeper crankbait so they seemed to have been moving deeper I went out Monday and the fish were not where they had been so either wasn't biting (we have been skunked 3 times in 2 years here) or they have moved out do deeper parts of the lake. I'm going to try again in a few hours and if I don't find fish this time I would say they have moved out last year they were here until the middle of Nov though.
  8. fishing here has had up's and downs this fall. We have been getting fish but the last few weeks big ones started to show signs of life the guy across the street caught a 6 pounder one night and the next got a 7 and got 7 bass with the smallest 3 pounds. We started to show signs as we got better quality bass and last weekend we got 14 and some decent ones I had a monster break off my 12 pound test..(i got in a hurry) Last night I went out and it was the worst day of the year not 1 fish not 1 bite..(we went 18 months here without not getting a fish) so I was down but I figured I would try this evening and went to the other end of the lake and fished the channel mouth and in 5 min got a 2.75 and 3.75 I then fished a strip where I knew the big fish from a few weeks ago came and bang got a big strike and see a big bass come flying out of the water I got him in the boat 7 pounds....A few min later in the same area I get a 3 pounder....
  9. I live on a large former strip pit (100 acres) in indiana. Right now the fish are in about 4-6 ft of water we position the boat along the ledges and throw a square bill crank or spinner baits and rip them along the ledges. We also hit all of the points hard.
  10. Sam, part of the issue this year has been more people moving out and a major increase in pleasure boat traffic. A few years ago I could go out on Memorial Day and be the only boat on the water (we did) and 7 boats was the most on the lake at anytime (4th of July) but more homes have gone up and more pleasure boaters to the point where I doubt I will try to fish on Sundays not worth fighting the jet skis...wakeboards..etc.. In terms of fishing the lake was build in the 70's and stocked in the 70 late 70's I guess and only a few people could fish it. I know some cops that were able to fish it and they tell stories about getting 7 pounders all the times. They built the houses on it in 94 I guess it was and when we moved here 6 years ago only 3 poeple fished it...now I guess that number is 5 people?
  11. I wasn't the one with the line breaking but he fishes all the time and has won some tournements he has got 5 pounders from here on 8 pound test. I didn't mean never use 8 pound test for most lakes in the midwest on soft plastic 8 pound test is fine for most fish in here 8 pound test is fin but this lake isn't most and I use 10 but wouldn't use 8 pound test in here. It has some 10-12 pound bass that would and have blown right threw 8 pound test. the guy across the lake has a ranger fishes 5 nights a week knows what he is doing he was throwing spinners on 15 pound spider wire and had one break it.(said he checked the line and it was a break). I'll take a person or 2 form this forum out next spring when the fishing is hot and they can see.(private lake) Alan
  12. I didn't mean to post this yet was in preview mode and hit wrong key but if you click the link the 1st video will open...
  13. We fished most of the day yesterday and it was slow got on the water at 6:30 and got one about 7 but the fishing didn't heat up until about 9. I lost a nice one off a point then we went to the other end of the lake and fished some shade at the mouth of a channel. It is funny people come here with me and I tell them don't use 8 pound test and most of the time I hear I have caught x,y,z on 8 pound test and i just say ok...the 1st video will show you the results...before this I had hooked a very nice one at the mouth of the channel and he jumped and spit it then my friend had a big strike right at the boat. We ended up getting 7 in the boat nothing great. I went back out at 5 with my brother and got a big one right off and figured it would be a great day but it ended up being slow brother lost a big one and we got 8 in the boat...did have the gopro running at the start. <iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/video/embed?video_id=10151631822496819" width="960" height="540" frameborder="0"></iframe>
  14. I just didn't want to move the more we moved the colder we got....yes when your line doesn't fall time to go in...lol my brother is sick today so not the smartest move we have made....I might go back out this evening..
  15. Fishing had been good here last week I was fishing with my brother and he lost a mosnter biggest bass I have ever seen (he spit it 5 yards from the boat) he was a lot bigger then my 10.5 .(same spot as mine and same spot as the bass that ate the duck) So we spent the next few days trying to him him got some 4's and the fishing had been good. (but not that fish) Today we planned to fish and while we had some clouds didn't seem to bad and only 30 percent change of rain so off we go. About about 30 min the sky opens up and it is a hard cold rain (air is about 72) we have on t shirts and jeans and are soaked. The fish though are on we were getting a lot of action on soft plastics with 1/2 the fishing coming on power worms. We got 30 bass in 3 hours the biggest 4 pounds and another 3 pound we didn't get the fish I'm after though. We froze though we were not dressed for the rain and I haven't been this cold ever and we fished in freezing rain laster year with the air 35 degrees out. The fishing was so good you had no choice you can't go in cause of the rain though you must keep fishing so we did.
  16. it has been rough here in Indiana the last few weeks we have had water in the mid 80's and the air has been in the 90's. The last big fish was about 3 weeks ago. We have got fish but most in the 14 inch range. Today my brother got off work and we went out about 5:30 and the first hour we had nothing we were thinking maybe this is the first time we get skunked in about a year and 1/2. We went to a spot at the end of the lake that was protected form the wind and I get one about 10 inches to keep the streak alive. We fish the rocks and the good spots at that end and nothing it was going to be a slow day I thought we did miss a few. We go out to the island again and I get a big strike on a lizard and can feel the fish he was a monster then he spits it..(on this lake 100 acred I really need to watch my mouth when I lose a big one..lol) my brother loses a big one also a few min later then nothing else....we go on down and fish a spot (some woods and a channel) that has produced the last few big fish. We get to the channel and get a double not big but at least my brother got one. I then get another small one and my brother says he is ready to go and I say lets fish this strip of woods again before we go. He sets the hook and his rod doubles over and the fight was on this was the hardest fighting fish we have had on all year after a while the bass gets in the boat she was a thick as any spawning bass I have seen weighted 5 pounds but put 4 more inchers on her and she will be a monster. Of course the battery on the gopro died about 30 min before the big bass.
  17. The last few weeks have been semi slow I went out today for about 2 hours (this evening) and it started out slow was throwing a brush hawg lizard and a KVD 1.5. I couldn't buy a bite on the soft plastic today after about 40 min I got the first fish at one of our main sports...the weeds are growing up so it was hard to fish that sport so i moved to a tree line across from our house that had produced the last 2 big fish (got a 4 pounder and lost one about 23 inches long). I was throwing the KVD in a stretch about 30 yards and got 2 smaller bass then about 5 yards from a channel I had a 5 pounder (on scale) grab it and strip off drag thought it was a catfish at first but it was a bass. It was dark and the bugs were getting bad so I came in. The last trip I was with a friend in about the same spot and hooked one on a plastic worm and he ran at the boat I started cranking thinking oh well this is a 14 incher...about that time he stopped and came flyout of the the water and spit it out he was about 23 inches....my friend stood there with his mouth open..I just shrugged my shoulders...
  18. My only real issue is one guy is running with the bladder on his wakeboat inflated and you cant use then here the lake isnt big enough to handle the wakes. We did go back out this evening and it was better we got 10 or so a few 3 pounders. I was tossing a lizard on a med action rod at some boat docks and i got a fish ne is running at me so i am just cranking him in i think he is a 14 inched and am not to excited until he stops running and tail walks on the water and she was about 23 inches and full of eggs or shad and she spits the bait...i look over at my friend and his moutth is wide open at the fish he just say i just shrug my shoulders...talked to the guy across the lake he fishes 6 days a week has a 60k ranger etc said he was fishing with spider wire and sets the hook and cranks it a few times and it jumps said it was a monster then it ran hard and snapped his braded line ...
  19. Fishing has been decent here the last few weeks not great. The last few times we have got 6 to 10 fish in boat with lots of 2 to 3 pounders nothing over 3 in the boat. I had a friend hook a big one and it broke off his 10 pound line (i told him use 14 here). It seems the bigger fish have gone deeper.. This lake is private and a few years ago i could go out sunday amd maybe 2 other boats if any. Todayi was trying to fish and had to fight jet ski after jet ski and ski boat after ski boat. I know they pay money to live here and all but 4 could care less about fishing but i want to tell them go pleasure boat on one of the public lakes.(i wont of course). I had a good bass on earlier about 3 pounds and i was trying to horse him away from a jet ski and ski boat and lost him that was the final straw put down the pole started the motor and went home....if they go in tonight i might give it another shot... Alan
  20. I thought he was a little bigger when I hooked him he was a pretty decent fish...we have a lot of fish that size and a few pounds bigger here...I hope to get some of the better fish on video...I was to lazy to upload music with it to be honest..lol
  21. Took me since Dec but have the GoPro working went out tonight and got a decent one on it...
  22. Sorry I posted this in the wrong forum the 1st time (didn't mean to)..You are right should have taken the paddle I left it in a cousins truck and figured what can happen we always make it back....that fish was decent for here I guess he made it worth it..(other one was same size)...the fish seem to be moving I have got more fish around boat docks the last week then anytime I can remeber it is clear most of the fish have dropped the eggs now and are a touch thinner then before...as crazy as it sounds I'm going to go back out this evening I think with another battery..
  23. So I am working from home today and I look out and the lake is like glass temp is perfect I think to myself I will go out and hit my spots then go back will fish for a hour or so then start work. We got one of those deals on a 16 feet mirror craft that people dream about (our nice boat is on another lake) and it just needs a connector for the fule line but I think to myself the 55 pound trolling motor can push it around fine and get me back (brand new) so down I go...I take a battery that I think is charged...(says it is) and I head to a island and fish and no bites at all..hmmm...so I head to the end of the lake and fish some points that produce bass nothing...I then go to the area where the lake feeds out into the river and I get a bass...but the boat runs aground and this causes the trolling motor to fall off the back of the boat...I drop my fishing rod I'm using to push us off..(cause of course I have no paddle)and run back grab the trolling motor before it goes all the way under ..a min later I think to myself I just dropped my pole in the water...oh well I can't find it and keep going...about 15 yards later I see it got hooked on some rope out the back and is being pulled behind the boat so I bring it in...I then head to some rocks not to far away that produce big fish and nothing...i go to a 2nd set of rocks and get a few fish and get the 1st nice bass of the trip...I then say to myself I will go fish the island again and then head in...(Island is 1/2 way home from rocks they are at the end)...when I get there I think to myself this battery seems to have trouble I don't know if I can make it back...so I start to make it back ...I get about 30 yards from shore and 10 docks down and the new trolling motors stops working...great.....so I hook up the older bow mounted one and it works...it pushes us along..(we are moving just not fast) so I say I will throw a KVD 1.5 while we move in...so I do and hook a nice bass..I get him in and he shakes and puts a hook in my thumb..(some blood not to bad) great I get him off....I then was able to get the boat close enough before it dies to grab the dock and pull it in....I hook the battery up on the chager and it says "0" ....but I did get 6 bass and 2 pretty decent ones
  24. KVD for me...we throw the crawfish and greenish one all year and it is money most of the time....fish in my profile pic came on one..
  25. one is when we went to fla and did shiner fishing for the first time 2 years ago it was like a video game. We got 50 bass in 5 hours avg was about 3 pounds we got 2 6's and a 7 also. Another good memory was last March/June I was "working from home" was windy about 50 our and i took the boat out and was throwing a crankbait at some rocks and boom got the first 10 pounder anyone from our boat here got...the wind was so strong after that I said screw it and went back to the dock. One of the best things is to take someone out and watch them get the biggest bass they have got and how happy they are me and my brother are spoiled have caught tons of 5 pounds and up fish here but to a lot of people in Indiana that is a big fish so to watch them get one and how happy they are is always a great memory. The last one that I still have in my mind from last year was fishing along a bank that has given up a lot of bass 5-10 pounds it was dusk and I was watching a baby duck swim from the bank out about 5 feet and this bass came out of the water and back in and all that was left was ring where the duck was never came back up...is the biggest bass I have ever seen to this day..might have been a state record fish...
