  1. Here in Indiana if I'm fishing the public lakes up north I know I'm not going to get the size so i would be happy with a few 15 inchers....here on my lake depends on the time of the year in the Spring march-may we were getting 4 to 5 pound fish everyday trip so we got to the point that we weren't interested in anything under 5 pounds..spolied I know...as the year went on we wanted to catch fish decent size 14 in above and were still trying for the 7 pound and above fish...The goal as most bass fisherman have is 10 pounders....got 1 and lost 2 or 3 in that range...
  2. when we got to the lake a few hours north they have a very big local shop that we love to go to it has been open for 30 years...and they don't have the big box stores. Here we have a kmart about 3 blocks away so when I need a bait that they have I just run and get it...i think we bought all of a certain color of KVD's...lol
  3. We found some fish yesterday got 11 found a decent fish around boat docks and got a few around some wood. It is supposed to be mid 50's through thanksgiving so maybe some decent fishing days.
  4. We have hit th same areas of the lake since March and have got bass everytime but once..(lost a 5 pounder that trip) even in the cold weather they have held fish but it was clear it was bass feeding getting ready for winter and would move out. On our last trip last week we got 14 and a friend got a 5 pounder on a crawfish jig...I got home and it was 43 so figured what the heck I'll try it..(only boat still on lake) and went out and hit 2 of the best spots that have been holding fish and nowhere to be found....I did manage 1 crappie 20 yards form home....it seems like the fish have moved off to deeper water. it is supposes to be 50 the next 5 days so maybe they will come back up...we are going to try Sat and see if we can find some fish...
  5. We went out today from noon to 4 and got 14 fish the biggest was a nice 5 pounder also got a 3.25 and a 2.5...the 5 pounder had a big fish in his mouth I think a crappie or a shad..most of the fish came on strike king crankbait 3 came on on other crankbaits and the 5 pounder came on a jig.
  6. I agree lipless cranks...our lake is filled with shad all over and we have killed them on square bill crankbaits...strike king kvd 2.5...bandit 200 are the ones we use...
  7. How did you do?
  8. We are going out tomorrow and going to see...we have been doing pretty good this year haven't been skunked since March and I lost a 5 pounder that day...we will keep fishing until we stop catching fish...I just hope it isn't tomorrow..lol
  9. Those look good I would like to do something like that on my lake.
  10. It was from around noon to 3...we are going to try again tomorrow.
  11. Dave At least you got something we ended up doing well on sat on kvd 2.5 crankbaits i was tempted to go back out today but watched the colts and was to lazy to charge battery...biggest we got was 3.25 Alam
  12. The private lake I live on has produced 6 10 pound bass the last 4 years..(from 2 boats)..pure Northern fish...still you might get 1 or 2 a year....If your looking at Northern States that you could have access to there is a lodge near Evansville Indiana and it is stocked with F1 Fla/Northern Bass and produced a few 10's last year....it would be around 12 hours from you give or take I would guess...PM me and I'll tell you the name..(I have nothing to do with them but plan to fish it this spring)
  13. the smaller fish has the kvd 2.5 with 1 set of hooks in him and the rest was sticking out of his mouth...about a foot or 2 from the boat I saw this bigger fish come up and his gills flared out and then he grabbed it from the other fish and hooked them both then fought them for a second and put them in the boat.
  14. It was 37 when we got out on the water we went to the spot that held the fish last time the mouth of the channel...my brother got a bass on the 1st cast and then a few casts later I got a bass and when he was about 2 feet from the boat another bass came up and hit the kvd 2.5 and I hooked him also 2 bass on 1 crankbait. We ended up getting 7 bass in 30 min at the mouth we then went through and fished the other side of the channel and I got a pretty decent bass...we came back and fished the spot we started with and picked up another bass....we hit a few more spots and got 12 total lost 2 fish....it was freezing rain part of our day but the fishing was sure great..
  15. The lake is a 100 acre private lake that I would say has produced more bass over 5 pounds per acre then any lake north of AL or Fla. The channel is a 40 yard channel about a boat and 1/2 wide that connects the main lake with a smaller 15 acre lake which the main river flows into then onto the big lake..the channel is about 2 to 4 feet deep....We fished the mouth of the channel and did real well...we didn't go into the channel we stayed on the main lake...we then fished the shore about 150 yards fishing some points and another creek mouth..(this one doesn't have the water current the other one has) got no bites....we then fished a island that has produced tons of 5 to 8 pound fish...it is in the middle with deep water on all sides...we got no bites....by now it is late and the temp has really dropped...we then went to the other end and fished this rock well about 100 yards that has produced 5 to 10 pound fish....we got one small fish hanging in the rocks....it seems the fish were waiting at the mouth for the shad to carry through the channel into the main lake then they were attacking...the time before this I went out similar weather..I got a few at the mouth of the channel then I got a 5 pounder near the other channel...we are going to try again in a few hours (it is 38 now) and we are going to fish the channel then go through the channel fish it and then fish the other end of the channel around where it starts....we also fished boat docks but got no bites...
  16. All but one of the fish came on a chartreuse kvd 2.5 the other fish came on a crawfish kvd 2.5 the kvd 2.5 has produced here since march.
  17. Went yesterday it was 34 in the morning and about 45 when we went fishing....we found some fish at the mouth of a channel and we got 5 fish and lost 3 at the boat...a number of the fish hit right at the boat.....got one 1 niche fat fish.
  18. We are going to try Fri and Sat and see if we can find a bite....has anyone been out the past week? Alan
  19. I don't like you guys that can fish all year lol jk.....my lake get some ice but 90% of the time it is never enough to walk on. Alan
  20. Nice fish...the 20 min was hot rest of the day was hard...i went out today for about 40 min wasnt sure cause we had frost this morning but i found one bass about 2 pounds at the mouth of a channel and another 4-5 pounds just off a island...
  21. I am lucky the best lake in the state is a 34 second walk..but I drive 2 hours a lot in the summer to go to a lake in northern Indiana..(more then fishing)...we are planning on driving 5 hous this spring to fish a private lake across the KY border....We fished a lake in Fla last spring and it was so good (50 bass in 4 hours.. avg 3 pounds or so) I would drive the 16 hours again for a weekend to fish that...
  22. In most Indiana public waters a 5 pounder is a very nice fish...I have gone to a public lake in the northern part of the state and in 30 years have never got anything over 3.5 or so....here on my lake we have got ton of fish over 5 this year...I have got 10 and I feel pretty sure it has 13 pound fish in it..so that is what we are after 10 to 13...
  23. He was caught at my house 100 acre private lake central indiana..he was caught last march/april...he is the 3rd biggest one we have got this year...but the biggest one I was alone and don't have very good pics of...
  24. My brother wanted to fish today, and I wasn't sure we would get any action since it was 34 this morning. We have been skunked just once since the season started.(march)...but I said I would give it a shot...I used a chartreuse strike king KVD 2.5 and we started at the mouth of a channel and boated 6 fish in about 20 min the action was hot..got one 4 pounds and another about 2.75...we fished the other parts of the lake we liked and couldn't buy a bite...we did see the Bald Eagle and he is always cool to see. Alan
