  1. So I finally bought a kayak (nucanoe frontier) which is awesome. Understanding that I want both a TMotor and a depth finder which would be the better first purchase. Price range for both is around 150-175 budget. So from the yak fishers out there what do you find as a more valuable tool? I don't mind paddling but it can be a nuisance keeping a position. I figure a cheap alternative to the TM would be a trolly anchor but I don't know. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
  2. Got some megastrike. Can't wait to try it out.
  3. No tackle but got a nucanoe frontier and a revo s. Can't wait for ice out
  4. for about 15 bucks more Walmart has the Vendetta Rods on sale. Decent rod for the price. Even better in my opinion for $64.
  5. Ill be getting mine soon. The above post from frog turds and the research I did for the features I want have convinced me. A bit pricy but I plan on buying one boat that is paddle powered. I didn't want to buy cheap and be stuck sitting and hating it. The frontier has a lot of options.
  6. Definitely want the kayak. Getting off shore is priority. Realistically I can do both but am being tight in the wallet. Probably going revo.
  7. I want to pick up a revo s for a veritas I have without a reel which is just wrong. However I am contemplating putting a bionic plus on the rod because they are on sale look similar etc, and apply the extra money toward the kayak I am buying in the spring. What do you all think I should do? Anyone have any experience with the bionic? I know it's new but someone's must have used one by now. I'm leaning toward the revo but my cheapness might be getting the best of me just because of the sale. Please help.
  8. Jigs, Trigs gets them in and out faster to cover more area. Burning spinners and buzz baits. My 7:1 is primarily my jig reel.
  9. I have zero experience in fishing kayaks but am also purchasing one by spring in the same price range. I have decided on the nucanoe frontier. I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet. It allows you to stand comfortably ,take a friend/spouse etc and gives you plenty of storage and can easily go solo. There's some interesting videos online. And it can be fully rigged take a trolling motor has scupper holes to make fishfinder instal easy etc.
  10. Thanks j francho. That's an interesting point about the internals. Never gave that a whole lot of thought. Maybe a worth while 10 dollar expense in the long run. Ill have to head to the tackle shop and check them out.
  11. Thanks for the replys. Ill have to check out the Lexa also. Local shop carries all three. I do like the looks of the revo and the veritas though.
  12. I can't decide between the revo s and citica. Obviously both are the same price. This will be paired with a veritas rod for soft plastics. Anyone have both that can give some input?
  13. I know northern bass supply has them. I was just there and saw them on the wall. Check out there site or give then a call. Nice people to deal with. http://www.northernbass.com/
  14. ^ Bps website still shows the pq rod and reel combo for $99. Doesn't tell much about the rod but on a cheaper budget your basically getting a free rod. I'm hoping the carbonlite combo goes on sale during the dpring sale so I can grab another one but will probably buy one even if they don't.
  15. X2 on the pro qualifier carbonlite combo for 160. I have one of these combos and its a great set up. You won't regret that set up.
  16. Ok so now the question is what do I use the xf rod for when not in heavy cover? Frogs, shakey head?
  17. Which is a better option? I have read a handful of articles on this and each one has a different opinion. Is one more sensitive than the other? Assuming this would be a jig exclusive rod which direction should I go.
  18. I had a similar thing happen. I was using an old frog to try out a new reel and as it bounced across the yard a hawk came and nailed it. Thankfully the dog gave chase and it let the frog go.
  19. Big fish sports is good to deal with. I got my order in two days. The spools are new and wrapped up nice. Hard to beat their prices. Maybe try and shoot them an email and see of they can do a secure payment? They have a lot of positive feedback. They left me a card in the box saying to contact them if I wasn't happy with the product and they would make it right.

  21. Alright I think I have made my mind up and nucanoe is the best option for me. That said I have yet to see either in person but I really like the options with the frontier. Thanks for all the suggestions. If any of thenucanoe users out there suggest any must have add on for this boat I am interested.
  22. Hmmmm just watched some Videos on the frontier and now I'm very intrigued. Going to have to check it out in person. Thanks frog turds.
  23. I like the stability of the nucanoe or what I have read about it. How comfortable are the seats. They look like the swivel seats are a must add. Regarding the swivel seats how comfortable are they I'm terms of positioning such as legs cramping casting room etc? I just got quotes for both and they are within $50 of each other stock but the nucnoe seems like everything is an add on.
  24. ill look at the commander online. I don't intend to put two adults into a solo boat. I would have to eventually purchase another canoe, jon boat etc for two people. I would love to get seat time in them first, but from my online searches, there are no dealers in my area that stocks the ones I mentioned. At least not from the dealer sites and few phone calls I have made. This kind of sucks given the amount for one of these boats. Also forgot to originally mention, by outings will be once maybe twice a week, and obviously no longer than a day trip on small lakes, ponds, etc.
  25. I need help. I am looking to purchase a hybrid in the spring and really can't decide what I want. I have searched this site high and dry and change my mind everyday. Basically I am looking for a boat that I can rig for fishing such as rod holders fish finder etc as time goes on. Also want to be able to stand up with some practice. 90% of my fishing will be solo but I like the idea of taking my child with me as she gets older wife, or someone else if the occasion arises. This in mind I am not against getting a solo rig and tackling the extra rider issue later down the road. Weight is not a huge issue, but will have to be roof topped. Models I'm leaning toward are the native ultimate 12 as a solo and the nucanoe frontier as a solo/tandem. Also price range would be around 1200. Anyone with either have any advice or other recommendations? Pros cons etc. Tanks in advance.
