  1. I fish braid on all of my rods with the exception of one. I use leaders on slow moving baits like jigs and t-rigged plastics and whenever cover is extremely nasty. You really don't need a leader for moving baits the fish don't really see the line they see the lure instead. That's just my .2 cents.
  2. X2 The mojo bass is also an excellent rod. if your lucky and you check the bargain room on the st croix website often you may be able to get an LTB really cheap I got one for 110 my friend has a Abu Garcia black max on a Abu vendetta and still catches fish, just remember the fish don't know what rod and reel your using.
  3. I will have to give that banjo minnow on a jig trick a try i have a box of them layin around that i thought were useless. good tip by the way. thanks for sharing
  4. I use it I throw it with the yum money minnow on a 5/0 mustad weighted swimbait hook on my m/h 7 foot 8 cranking stick
  5. I use fishgillz I got them for a two for one deal and absolutely love them plus they float
  6. it depends on the conditions if its overcast or the sun isn't on the water yet then I will throw a hubs chub or a booyah pad crasher if the sun has come up then I will go straight into what I planed on doing for the day.
  7. I have a box like this made by falcon for hooks I've used but I generally keep them in their original package in a ziplock bag it's keep them dry and. Read somewhere that the moment you pull a hook out of the package it looses some of its sharpness.
  8. Do they walk like a spook or something of the kind or is it harder?
  9. I just recently got in my order of hubs chubs and was wondering if anyone else uses these and how do you fish them. I remember cranking them across the top of the water and having big smallmouth come up and grab them, but that's about the only way I fished them any imput would be great thanks.
  10. I took advantage of the ultimate clearance prices picking up mustad weighted swimbait hooks for a dollar a pack owner swimbait hooks and trilene 100% fluoro for 4 dollars
  11. the local dick's by me has 3 isles for just plastics then another three for lures and then a giant glass case full of reels with an isle of line next to it. I'm rather impressed with it.
  12. I use whatever I think may catch the fish. I have so many different brands of plastics that its not even funny. brand loyalty doesn't apply to me every lure will catch a fish that's why companies put out a product.
  13. Wish I could but Its all private i drive by it all the time is it any good?
  14. I've been their once also I stayed with a friend and fished a couple close coves in a yak and had a blast theirs tons of fish in their.
  15. Thanks Nitro a guy on the tech team said there were a bunch their but who knows thanks again Andrew
  16. X2 on that smith mountain would be great
  17. Ya Nitro it's for for both, spots also but I don't expect to gain any considerable weight from them.
  18. I wish but no I'm part of warren county junior bass anglers out of front royal this is the state championship that you had to qualify for.
  19. X2 i just looked and its not up
  20. I am fishing in a junior state championship tourney next Sunday and was wondering if anybody would be nice enough to drop me a few hints on how the lake fishes seeing as i have never fished it before any help would be greatly appreciated.
  21. My dad taught me by having me stick the butt of the rod in the sleeve of my sweatshirt to keep my wrist straight and to be slow but powerful. Welcome to one of the most fun techniques to fish. I've caught more big bass on the fly with a popper than any other technique. Combined.
  22. St croix in general are my favorite the LTB is awesome but for a hundred bucks the mojo bass is probably most bang for buck
  23. Is the pond pressured much if so then I'd downsize even smaller 4 inch senko and inline spinners like rooster tails. I'd also try a shaky head or some other freak random lure you have. Sometimes pressured bass will hit the most odd thing in your tackle box
  24. I use a Lew's tournament mg speed spool in a 6:4:1 ratio for jig and worm a 4:7:1 for cranks a 5:2:1 for spinners and a 7:1:1 for buzzbaits and other topwater. if your looking to get a new reel or reels the BPS pro qualifier is an outstanding reel for a 100 bucks. it comes in all the ratios i mentioned above.
  25. Yammy grub in whatever color I have on the back of spinnerbaits
