  1. I wish we had gar it give me a reason to throw those big lures I keep collecting from sales the hookset method is that I have always done and has worked really well in the past. The lure is new and the hooks seemed fine I'm going to probably try some mustad wide gap treble and see if my luck changes The fish taunt me with a ten second fight then spit the hook. I wasn't the only one with the problem everyone else couldn't land a fish either
  2. I'm 100% sure they were all fish when I watch them come to the surface and then dive back down it's obvious its a fish and in the lake I was fishing we don't have pickerel
  3. I forgot to mention I had a 12# mono leader on the braid
  4. Ya i changed halfway through but the bites stopped switched it back bites started again.
  5. I just got in from another day of fishing and caught one fish and it was a gizzard shad i snagged. I hooked a total of about 25 fish including one about 5 pounds on a lipless crank with stock hooks.. im fishing a st croix mojo bass big cranker with 40# power pro on a pro qualifier. I would set the hook just like I normally would and the bass would be on for about ten to twenty seconds and then it would be off. Is it the hooks or is it something else. If anyone could give me some suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. thanks
  6. I spool up with cheap Walmart mono and then take a heavy lure and cast it as far as I can and then take another 50 to sixty yards off and then tie on the more expensive line. It keeps me from wasting to much line and costs less in the long run
  7. I've never had a problem with snapping line while drop shot fishing I use a st croix rage spinning reel with an Abu Garcia revo sx and you just have to watch how hard you set the hook
  8. Go with the Lew's you can't go wrong with them
  9. I need to get 2 new spinning reels for a couple of rods I got for Christmas. I fish tournaments so I need something that's reliable and is not extremely expensive( like around a hundred bucks) any suggestions would be great thanks.
  10. I do it all the time. The fact that I only have a canoe makes it not even worth it to buy a depth finder. I normally just fish the rig like I normally would and use the tungsten weight to feel the structure on the bottom. That's the beauty of the rig with the right rod you can feel just about everything down there. As for lures i will use a Jethro big toho ribbon tail worm in a June bug color hope this helps.
  11. I love my spiderwire backpack its got good padding and holds a lot of things i have 5 3600 boxes in mine and about 2 pounds of plastics. This bag holds everything and has done everything i needed it to highly recomended. hope this helps.
  12. put some things like hooks, weights, beads anything really u never know when you will need something. i used to have extra space so i made a panfish box and a toothy critter box use em for whatever you want

  14. My name is Andrew I'm a 16 year old high school student in Culpeper VA and fish just about everyday. I'm in a youth bass fishing club and fish tournaments all around the northern Virginia area. Lake Anna is my favorite body of water closely followed by the Shenandoah river. I love to fish shaky head with a Jethro finesse worm in green pumpkin. this sight is the best and I have learned so much from the short time I have been on here. Thanks for such a great site.

  16. I just got a St Croix legend tournament jig and worm rod and a Lew's tournament mg speed spool and 30# Power pro braid. I need to decide wether to put a fluoro leader or just direct tie. If leader what knot should I use and how long should I make it. Any feedback would be great thanks.
