  1. I'd be interested in seeing how it holds up to a season of hard abuse or perhaps even some repeated saltwater exposure/warm water rinses.
  2. Congrats on joining the plastic armada!!!
  3. Yeah - I'd be proud to rock a couple of those! White and XL for me - just send me the link
  4. You are most likely referring to Back Bay if I am reading your post correctly. If that is the case, then look up Charlie Brueggeman (vbfishguide is his user handle on forums, his YouTube channel and his site). Also consider giving the DGIF rep a call - his name is Chad Boyce. His number is 1-757-465-6812. He can probably give you an update on your information, since they are out on Back Bay almost monthly.
  5. Welcome aboard. The forum's search feature along with the numerous articles will get you going.
  6. Interesting topic..... I would think the tribute should also include influences on the bass fishing industry as a whole in my book....... So, I would contend the tribute should include some other important icons in the history of our sport: 1. Ray Scott - BASS founder 2. Forrest L. Wood - founder of Ranger boats 3. Holden Illingworth - creator of the first spinning reel which led to development of the Mitchell 300 4. Gote Borgstrom - creator of the Abu Garcia round baitcast reel (1947) If we were keeping it to just bass anglers, then I would think the tribute would be subjective to your upbringing and when you were born..... For me, it would be simple........ 1. Hank Parker 2. Roland Martin 3. Bill Dance 4. Jimmy Houston I grew up in the 70's watching all of their shows.
  7. I usually on roll with three to keep it simple, but in the spirit of the thread I'll make an exception 1. Suspending Jerkbait - usually a MirrOlure of some form 2. Topwater - frog or a Skitterwalk 3. Swimbait - PowerTeam Lures Swinging Hammer 4. Shakey Head - PowerTeam Lures 7" Finicky Tickler or 3.5" Food Chain Tube 5. Siebert Outdoors Brush Jig paired with a PowerTeam Lures Craw D'oeuvre. I'll throw in a sixth that is interchangeable with the topwater depending on conditions that day, and that is a drop shot with a PowerTeam Lures JP Hammershad or 5" Finicky Tickler.
  8. Welcome aboard!
  9. Sorry to hear that Andy - dogs are a wonderful part of our lives albeit too short.
  10. Seat time seat time seat time! Opinions are nice for input and ideas but only your body can give you true feedback on overall comfort for your body type. Focus on the type of fishing you will be doing 70-80% of the time and the options will narrow considerably. Find a local kayak store to test fit a few with a PFD in the store then find a demo day or kayak outfitter and test out as many as possible.
  11. Take a look at the YakAttack Cell Block. It is a self contained assembly that houses the battery and provides a mounting block for the unit.
  12. PowerTeam Lures Texas Rig Jig
  13. The Craw D is the best all around craw in the lineup in my opinion. I use it on a keel weighted 1/8oz hook and work it sloqly or as a jig trailer on a Siebert Outdoors Brush Jig. Two subtle presentations that are killer for fickle fish are: A weighted wacky hook with the single wire guard rigged through the rear tail section. Awesome subtle presentation that is killer in the river along a ledge system. Another killer technique is on a drop shot in the rocks.....try it but be prepared to get your arm jerked pretty hard. Other rigging include a shaky head, texas rig, carolina rig or even a small slider head. The rigging options are only limited by your imagination. I even know someone that slow rolled one weightless over grass beds texas rigged on a 2/0 EWG a hook and let the pinchers ripple along. He ended up almost losing his rod when the citation largemouth exploded on it.
  14. Just like JFrancho said - they could care less.......
  15. I've been known to throw a few stick baits from time to time. Check your PM.
  16. Another Mechanicsville, VA member checking in.... Welcome aboard!
  17. There are plenty of good choices to play around with but give the PowerTeam Lures Gator a try - you won't be disappointed!
  18. The Pro Angler 14 is my current Hobie of choice. I also owned a Revolution 13 and have pedaled a Hobie Outback and Pro Angler 12 as well. I know one day I will own a traditional bass boat, but not anytime soon. If you have any questions, just shoot me a PM or even better, ask in the general forum for all to see. You could say I love fishing out of mine.......
  19. Also look up the guys on NCKFA. They have a year long series all through NC.
  20. Welcome aboard Matt!
  21. Fished a couple weeks ago and landed 4 largemouth. 3 on a PTL JP Hammershad and the fourth on a PTL Conviction Craw.
  22. Work the rocks at the dikes with a shakey head or jig and craw and a spinnerbait is always a good option in those areas. Dont shy away from the submerged points either. Google satellite view is your friend.
  23. Seat time is my recommendation Curtis. You can speculate all day, but until you get in the ones you are interested, you will never know for certain which brand fits your physical stature the best. Every person is different. If the kayak you choose does not have a seat and foot peg setup that can be tailored to your body style, paddling position with the pfd on, you will end up unhappy and selling it. Take the time to sit in them at a kayak store, paddle them at a demo day or ask around on some kayak forums near you. Most folks will be more than open to letting you paddle theirs around a bit.
  24. I hope you guys will stop by the Appomattox River Company setup. You won't be able to miss it. It will have a huge kayak display and my Pro Angler will be on display. I'd love to meet a few of you guys. O'll have on a red Hobie hat and a blue Hobie Columbia fishing shirt. I will be there all three days.
