  1. 1. Stopping around Oct/Nov each season until ice. 2. The peacefulness.
  2. Love PowerPro. Have it on all my spinning. Full disclosure ... I tried Smackdown by Seaguar last year and loved it. Can't go wrong with either IMO.
  3. With the weather the way it has been I don't expect ice here anytime soon. I am building up my collection of MTB Ice Fishing boxes to attempt some Ice Slams once we freeze over.
  4. The term is "Long term strategic plan" not tanking ...
  5. I have it on my phone. Use it in my kayak. Love it. At the Toledo Bend trip my boater Bert forgot his fishfinders. He used the app on his phone to navigate. Got us where we needed and then some.
  6. Mine went out earlier this week ... I love this time of year ...
  7. I have spare spools but it's for when I swap my reel between applications. For one day I fish a tournament and use my reel for the day I use the standard spool. 15lb braid and tie leaders. I have an extra spool which holds 30lb braid for when I switch things over to pier fishing (saltwater). Worked well for me on my OBX trip. Just need to remember to clean the reel when swapping between fresh and saltwater.

Another vote for a heat gun.
  9. Welcome ... I visit NYC quite often. Still have family down there ... Heading down this weekend. What tackle shop do you work in?
  10. So sad to hear ... Even with a group things can get dangerous for the individual. Especially with those water temps. Be safe out there ...
  11. If you are catching fish then it doesn't really matter much. Plenty of people on this forum use mainly braid with great success. I'm a fluoro guy myself but it's all about the confidence. The only thing I would say about braid is it's durability around rock, wood etc. If you are losing fish because the braid is tearing when going over this stuff then you might want to consider a leader of FC just for those situations.
  12. My baag holds 4 3600 Plano boxes and everything else I need. I generally fish 5 to 7 rods depending on the circumstances. The most important thing is to stay organized. That way when its time to move you waste very little time packing up for the run.
  13. Glad he was sentenced but I struggle to see how the DEATH of an innocent person equals 25 years. He will be roughly my age when he is released from prison and still have plenty of life to live once he is free. His victim clearly doesn't have that same luxury. So sad ...
  14. Very timely post for me .... My fishing had focused primarily on bass with the exception of one Pike tournament every year and the occasional pan fish fun with my kids. At the end of this year I found myself stuck. Feeling like I needed to expand my knowledge of fishing by trying to chase other species. As a result I decided to venture into fishing from the surf. It opened my eyes to a new way to catch fish and I am already finding ways where it can help me improve as an angler. Since the ice is an inevitable reality for me I decided to also try ice fishing for perch this winter. Looking forward to the challenges.
  15. Can't please everyone ...
  16. I am an avid Keitech user. Have been for over 3 years now. If what they used in the past is called durable then I can be considered a supermodel. In all seriousness ... I know for certain the the spiders which they reintroduced recently was produced with a whole new, more durable plastic. People complained about them because they don't work as well as the classics. Maybe that is what you are referring to??
  17. Awesome. My experience was fishing the Outer Banks a few weeks ago. Looking forward to doing more of this next year. The Jersey Shore and Long Island are a hop, skip, jump from my parents home so I intend to get there from time to time. I will let you know when I am going ... maybe we can link up.
  18. Heavy is relative. So far the only reason. I use my heavy is for the Alabama Rig.
  19. I tend to read, workout and revisit all my tackle. Since I just discovered I like saltwater Fishing from the surf I have a few books to get me ready for that next year too. I also ice fish so now it's just a matter of waiting for the lakes to freeze over.
  20. I never hated and loved a post at the same time. Made me laugh. Lmao.
  21. Backpack is the way to go. Covers every situation you mention. There are several catering to the angler. I bought one from BPS which holds 4 3600 boxes and all the other essentials with various pockets.
  22. Then you MUST PM me your name and address. Just tried ... got an error saying you cannot receive any more messages.
