REDCREST 2022 ~ Grand Lake O' The Cherokees
After watching that Active Target screen for a while I am convinced that if I had that I would catch the same amount of fish that I do now. I can't tell what is going on LOL

REDCREST 2022 ~ Grand Lake O' The Cherokees
That's about what I figured it was. I was out last week and it was 47-49. Never saw any 50 degree water and Grand is pretty far North of me. I was wanting to get out this weekend and hoping it would be in the 50's by now.

REDCREST 2022 ~ Grand Lake O' The Cherokees
No volume here at work, has anyone said what the water temp is?

brakes on Shimano reels
Never open the side plate once they are half on and half off. There are plenty of Shimano reels with an external setting though if you think you might like that better. The Curado 150 MGL would probably fit the bill.

A Rig set up
I use 20lb shooter for A rigs when I pretend like I am actually for once in my life going to catch a GIANT on one. Never happens LOL

Curado BFS Reel Braid Pound Line Question
I would ask myself what size lure I planned to use and what rod I was going to use, that information means more to me than the reel used.
-
If you had it to do over again....
Very subjective and depends on your fishing goals, and realistically speaking, money is always a factor (at least for most people). For me. I could get by with Shimano Zodias rods and Curado reels (200K, 70 MGL, 150 MGL - even though I haven't used one, I would trust it). I prefer Expride's and Met's, but I am not sure they are that much better, especially if I were building an arsenal of 15 combos. If I only carried 3 or 4, then I would use Poison Adrenas with probably a mix of Aldebaran MGL, Bantam, Met and Antares 70.

Haven't fished for 12 years and need help matching reel to rod to line.
Spinning road Finesse plastics - 15 lb braid (leader is up to you) St. Croix Avid 6'6" Medium Power Fast Action Abu Garcia Revo S 6.4:1 Jerkbaits, topwater - I like fluoro for JB's and mono for moving topwater like buzzbaits, but if I just went with one it would be 12 or 14lb Sufix Elite St. Croix Avid 7' Medium Power Fast Action Shimano Curado Bantam B 201BS 5:1 Crankbaits, SpinnerBaits? - 14lb fluoro (invizx or sniper) Dobyns Champion Series 7' Med-Hvy Ex Fast Shimano Curado 101B 6.2:1 Jigs, Texas Rig, Spinnerbaits?, Lipless Cranks? - This is not a lipless rod for me, only jigs or texas rigs - 40lb Sufix 832 Kistler Magnesium Jig n Toad Special 7' Shimano Citica 201D 6.2:1 Frogs, Slop I have new 50lb Sufix 832 dark green braid to spool here - Perfect St. Croix Legend Tournament telescoping 7'6" Med-Hvy Mod-Fast (I'm worried this will be unwieldy from a kayak) Team Daiwa - Z 105HL no idea gear ratio Pitching into cover, carolina rig? - 40 or 50 lb 832 Better?

Tips For Weightless Flukes
I agree with some of the above. I prefer them on a spinning rod because I find the action to be better. I have tried them on a baitcaster and didn't have a problem casting them, I just didn't have a rod that I liked. That's not weightless

Catching a record-breaking fish out of season
A guy in Oklahoma caught a record spoonbill but couldn't get it certified because it was on a day you couldn't keep them.

New Shimano Metanium MGL and Bantam MGL free spool issue
I have found that they loosen up pretty quick.

Toyota Sharelunker: Legacy Class Catches
Fully aware. I didn't know if they would even take anymore from Ivie and apparently they aren't.

New Shimano Metanium MGL and Bantam MGL free spool issue
Have you put line on it and used it yet or just spinning the spool in the living room? I used to see people do this in stores all the time. Click the thumb bar and spin away. Never understood what they were checking for.

Would year-round daylight savings affect your fishing??
It absolutely does not make a difference on length of day. If you don't have to work and don't need a clock, then it shouldn't make a difference to you. However, those who get off work at 4 or 5 do indeed get extra daylight during DST. I can't make it to the stand in Nov before its almost too dark to hunt, but if we were still in DST I would have time to get there.

Need a new reel, $200 budget.
I'm just gonna be honest, buy a $200 reel and it's going to be a good one. I don't care who makes it. They all have their differences, so that is what you need to figure out what you want in a reel. But at that price point, you are going to get a good reel no matter who makes it.

My mea culpa regarding fluorocarbon line
It does for a lot of people including myself. I used 15 lb Tatsu Monday in a 20 mph wind throwing a squarebill and it performed flawlessly.
-
My mea culpa regarding fluorocarbon line
For what technique would it benefit you? Walking the bank on ponds, you can get by with mono and braid and have ZERO need for fluoro. Fishing rocky lakes, deep lakes, tree filled lakes, etc. it is needed in some cases. I wish you could understand that it is a need based line, and comes in handy when needed.
-
My mea culpa regarding fluorocarbon line
Then why are you using it? Simply to say you think it is junk? As I said in the other thread, as well as many others said, it has it's time and place. It is better at abrasion resistance in rock. It fishes in and around wood better than braid. It is more sensitive in deeper water than mono. It can get cranks down to depth quicker. If you don't need it for any reason, then why in the world would you use it? I'm not sure what your deal is, but you make absolutely no sense if indeed you are trying to make a point. I had you on ignore, but I just had to see what kind of stupid post you made. When you said Tatsu was ridiculous, it made me 100% certain you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

Well, 26 out of 32 right isn't bad, but having UK in the finals is going to be the death of me.

anyone have no interest in fishing with sonar, and maybe prefer the 'old wayze?'
I have Mega DI/SI and Mega 360. I am very proficient at reading the depth, water temp and time. Other than that, I don't consider myself to be any good with it. I can find structure, and sometimes catch fish there, but I am a bank beater so it doesn't really help me all that much.

Daylight Savings Time
Why is this one weather man the only one who has to wait an hour for weather updates? I live in tornado alley and I think if this were real, I would have heard about it by now. Maybe he should get on the internet. I can see live radar anywhere in the world. No idea why it would be delayed an hour. He should have just said he felt sorry for the kids waiting on the bus. LOL Edit - So, I did a little research. Here is what I found. “So on a typical summer eastern daylight time, the models, we will have all the model in say by a little after 2 o’clock in the afternoon. And we turn that around into a forecast between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Eastern Standard time we will have all those by one o’clock in the afternoon, and we are still issuing the afternoon forecast between 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.” Followed by this line "Steve Rowley, with the national weather service, says the extra hour of forecasting is helpful." So, this guy is saying the extra hour is good for forecasting.
