  1. What length fluoro leader do you guys use when pitching and flipping from braid? I have 50lb braid and will be going to 17lb invizx in clear water. Also, what's your favorite knot going from braid to fluoro?
  2. Check out the new line of dobyns, the fury line up. Heard they're just as good if not better than the savy line. A couple others to look at would be the Irod Gen2, St. Croix and Daiwa tatula. For a reel, you have tons of options in that price range. Since your fishing plastics I'd say check out the Daiwa tatula with the t-wing or the gold standard, Shimano curado.
  3. What kind of price range are you looking in? I'm doing the same right now and I'm a Daiwa guy myself. I really like the tatula series with the t-wing. Let's the line draw out much smoother. It's around $150. I have 4 Daiwa excelor reels and love them. Also, ardent has some good reels as well as the tried and true Shimano curado. Good luck, let me know what you end up with cause I'm gearing up for spring as well.
  4. I've heard good things about dobyns, may have to check them out. The flea market on this site?
  5. Hey guys, looking to get 2 new rods this spring. First, I want a new flipping and pitching rod. I will most likely put a Tatula reel on it but what do you suggest for a rod between $100-$200. Looking for the most sensitive rod I can find in that price range. Most likely put 17-20lb fluorocarbon. The other is a drop shot rod. I'm looking at at cabelas zx tournament drop shot or a Berkley emotion rod. Something in the $75-$150 range.
  6. What do you guys prefer, inflatable vs non (traditional foam vest)? I'm looking at a mustang mit 100 inflateBle that cabelas has on sale for $100 or the cabelas ultimate angler vest. Never fished in a tournament, what do most guys wear? Thanks
  7. I too have heard good things about the rage rods but really need to put one in my hands.
  8. In Iowa I call 4 lb big, 6 lb real big and 8 lb creme de la creme. I appreciate the Kentucky lake or guntersville suggestion but that's too far for this short trip. Sorry I didn't specify. I'm thinking 6 hrs max.
  9. Hey guys, I've been swamped with work duties so long story short, I have 40 hrs comp time to use. I'm in central Iowa. Where would you go for best chance to catch a BIG bass? I love flipping docks and would love to spend some time doing that. Here are a few places I've been thinking: okoboji, Minnetonka, ozarks. Thoughts?
  10. Hey gang, I'm looking for a new spinning rod. Something to drop shot and throw weightless plastics around docks. Not looking for anything over $100. Here are a few that I'm looking at right now. Shimano Clarus, and fenwick HMG. Most likely a 7' fast or xfast. Thoughts on these rods or anything else I should check for sure.
  11. Thank you ski. I'm def going to get a culling beam but I just want a scale to get an idea.
  12. This was for a 2000-2005 model for $8-$10k. Told me if I bought a 2011 or newer I'd get a 2.89% but I can't afford that.
  13. Hey guys, I'm looking to purchase my first bass boat. Called my bank today and they offered a 6.7% interest rate. What kind of interest rates have you guys seen?
  14. Hey guys. I'm looking to pick up a good tournament scale. Anyone have suggestions and I'm not dropping $150 on a boga. And also which culling system do you guys use ?
  15. Where is it on sale?
  16. Hey, I'm thinking about a new spinning rod for throwing weightless flukes and senkos. So im thinking a medium or medium heavy fast action. Anyone have any suggestions, preferably under $100
  17. Hey guys. I'm looking to purchase my first bass boat. It will be a pleasure fishing and a couple small tournaments rig. I've done a ton of searching on Craigslist and just waiting for the right deal. I'm kind of picky and here are the models I'm looking at: Skeeter sx/zx 180 or 190 Triton 186 Nitro 882 Ranger r83 Anyone have any major pros/cons for these models. I really just want something dependable. I'm worried about transom rot more than anything with the age of boats I'm looking at. My price range is $8-14k. Thanks
  18. Thx guys. I'll keep looking
  19. Anyone have experience with this boat? I know it's not a straight bass boat but that what I am is a multispecies guy. I like to chase bass, walleye, panfish and maybe some muskie from time to time. I like the lower sides for bass fishing but can handle a little bigger water. This boat is a 2004 with a 150 optimax and he's asking $13,000.
  20. No I don't turn off my unit. I really don't think that makes a difference. Secondly, if I go over an area with the big motor that 10 ft or less I usually give the spot 15-20 min before I fish it. Unless the area is a high traffic zone.
  21. First, I hate the wind with a passion. Secondly, I have a higher sided aluminum boat that might as well be a kite on windy days. When you guys go out on a windy day do you just leave the finesse stuff in the garage or do you get in calmer coves? I fished the wind blown dam with a square bill and picked up a few but it just got to be too much. I should have tried a spinnerbait maybe. What do you guys do in those windy conditions?
  22. Hey guys I've never sold a boat before so help me out with paperwork needed for the buyer. From what I understand I need the title, registration and bill of sale. Anything else? Also, I've torn my boat apart looking for the title but haven't come up with it. What are my options to get a new title?
