  1. I could say that about soft baits. Don't think I could limit to just senkos. Love the Ika/palm trees and my Favorite... Spanky worm.
  2. I caught a small 1# 2 months back and I think it had the same smell you're talking about. I mentioned it to my buddy who has 10+ years of knowledge over me. He said that the fish quite possibly just got off the bed. Man, it took a while before I could get the smell off my hands.
  3. How big were the teeth? You talking small or noticeable (like.... eff that I'm grabbing the gills) teeth?
  4. They took down the product data? Doesn't seem to be on there anymore.
  5. It was sitting in my friend's garage in a clam package. I have no idea when he purchased it. I found the schematic, will be calling shimano today for the part.
  6. Thank you!! This is what i'm looking for. I don't like assuming and thats how I break things. I searched this forum up and down
  7. Hi Guys, thanks in advance for reading. I have a 3000Fj and there's a small issue with the reel. When the handle is in any position other than straight down (6 o'clock position), the handle doesn't have enough friction on it to keep it in place. Unless there is tension on the line, the handle just cranks/drops to the down position. Its almost like the handle is too heavy or something is missing that keeps the handle in place. If i turn off the anti-reverse, I can make it swing back and forth like a pendulum couple of times. Unfortunately I’m not knowledge enough to know what could be causing this. I don't have an issue opening up the reel to check it out, but i would know what to look for. Need some help from the reel techs. Thanks
  8. Black... for everything
  9. I agree it has everything. The smallies are rare in Mass. I'm too cheap to pay for a NH non-resident license so the limited smallie ponds/lakes are a plus for me. I'm the guy to get annoyed when people keep smallies. I'd give that person a 4# LMB to have them put the 1# smallie back.
  10. Overstock bait has a decent sale if you subscribe to their news letter. They have great prices on Yamamotos right now. And they just restocked. With an added 20% off from the email coupon for being a subscriber, it was a great deal. I picked up packs of Yamamotos for 4.25 a pack shipped. All Ikas and 5" worms.
  11. The quabbin... has smallies
  12. I'm using braid with a 3' flouro leader on a St. Croix Mojo... loving the setup and definitely like the feel
  13. I've used 3/0, 2/0 and 1/0. I've had luck with all 3. 3/0 if you're in an area that has some big LMB, if not the 1/0 will work. You get 5 hooks in the 1/0 pack. I've caught a 3#er with it and no problems.
  14. Gamakatsu Wide Gap Finesse Hook Weedless All day long
  15. Get black, no flakes, 5". IMO it's the calmest color in murky water. This is the only color I really fish slow. Have gotten instant hits every outing in the past 2-3 weeks. Let me know if this works for you. Been solid for me.
  16. Trying new lures definitely keeps the game exciting. If i'm getting skunked, I always throw in a Spanky (my MVP lately) to try to hook at least one.
  17. I just hit Houghtons on Saturday night @ 730PM-9PM and didn't get a bite. The pond seems a little out fished. I saw a few guys there with buckets taking anything home they caught. We worked Senkos (texas and wacky) to ending the night with jitterbugs.
  18. Definitely feel out the water with how fast you fish the senko. Many people on the boards will tell you to fish it slow. Keep it up if it works. Change it up if it isn't. I've actually caught a lot more fish by fishing fast than slow. Just because it works for us, doesn't mean it works for you. Get as much advice as possible and try it all out. Then do it all over again with a new lake or different weather. haha. You'll start building a mental log on what to do at different areas with different conditions.
  19. Comes with experience and time... I'm still learning this as well. I'm lucky enough to have someone that is proficient in bass fishing to help me out. my biggest problem is trying to set the hook before the fish takes it. Over anxious I guess on my part. But that's the best advice I can give you. The "tap-tap" has plenty of meanings. Some are real and some are not. You'll learn the feel soon enough. Good luck and have fun!

Wow... i'm going to be honest. I have red hooks, but never bought them for the color. It was the size/style I needed and never thought twice about the hook color. I use the red hooks for texas rigs on Palm Trees. The color is rubbing off just like someone had already said, but i'm paying no mind to it.
  21. Like most people said... reading helps the most. I caught my first few big boys after watching videos on how the softbaits move underwater.... learn how to fish your baits, presentation is key. Get a quick read in on variables... wind, sun, time, bait color, etc.
  22. I use Yamamoto Palm Trees to get me decent sized LMB when the worms are pulling in small guys.
  23. That's a good point jherm, I need to start experimenting with that. Taking the hook out from the mid-section still kills some of these less durable worms i'm sure. I'm all done when i'm using Palm Trees or Ikas. I have no other option but to leave them in. @ Paul I need to slowly start investing in more rods, I know thats the better way to go. I had to option early this spring to make that decision and went with two decent setups instead of one great one.
  24. I'm mostly fishing with soft bait these days, so when something isn't working I change it out. I have a question for you guys that are changing out the baits as much as I do. When you change out the bait, do you take the bait and put it back in the original packaging? I assuming if you are, you much be taking off the hook as well. With certain brands, the plastic isn't so durable, so you'll be ruining the bait more often than you want. What I am currently doing is taking the bait and the hook and throwing them in a plastic tackle box. But the original packaging has the original scent and salt sealed in the package. Am I missing out on adding the salt/scent back into the bait by keeping it in a different box? I also have a back pack that I keep everything in. Putting the bait with the hook still attached back into the packaging probably isn't the best idea. Last thing I need is someone accidentally sitting or leaning on my back pack and getting stabbed.
  25. Come up to the north shore... plenty of ponds with big boys up here
