  1. My pet peeves are: 1- when the fishing tips are useless cause the host can't think if anything (this only happens on a few shows) 2- when the host doesn't know what he's doing and he doesn't catch a lot/doesn't teach me anything (Like Charlie Moore:no offense- that show is boring most of the time) My favorite fishing shows are Zona's AFS, FLW outdoors, bass masters, big bass battle, scottmartin challenge, and major league fishing.
  2. I can't wait for the chronarch e's to be on sale in about a month. Ate they discontinuing them or will thy keep them as a medium-high prices reel?
  3. my mistake haha they aren't trash but they are a disappointment for me atleast. I haveused one before and they feel like they are going to fall apart at any moment. All the g series feels that way. The e series just feels stronger and nicer in general. Oh and how much does it actually cost for the materials for an curado e (rough estimate)? Wouldn't it be around 50-60 dollars for the materials? I saw somewhere else that some reels only cost about $30 to make.
  4. Saw a thread for "best fishing moment" and they were really interesting. Now lets hear your worst fishing moment. Not trying to bring in negativity and sadness but you guys have some great stories on the other threads! I'll start it with a depressing story: I was fishing at my home lake and I decided to stop by a really small cove before I had to go home. It is probably 50-60 feet long and it is full of blue gill beds. So I ended up not catching anything in the cove but when I went around the corner and I was on mainlake, I saw a pack of maybe 6-10 big largemouth cruising on the surface and about to turn into the cove. The smallest was probably 5-6 lbs and the biggest was 10+ for sure. I picked up my rod with a super spook jr. and I cast about 10 ft infront of the pack. I waited a few seconds for the bass to swim closer, then I started to twitch it. After 2 twitches I caught the attention of the bass. The biggest bass of the whole pack shoots out infront of the rest and attacks the lure. It was unbelievable to watch a 10+ lb bass swim so fast and just attack something like that. The only problem is he missed my lure! What happened was he missed it and on his way down from his attack, he gets hooked by the back treble in the left side probably near the tail causing him to flip out, scare the rest of the pack with splashing, and swim out away. He was on my line for a second, but he came off and I found a scale or two on my hook. My extreme excitement had turned into sadness as the whole pack of the bass was spooked off from the splashing and commotion and fleeing of the big bass. I don't think I slept more than 5 hours a night for the next few weeks after that.. The whole scene just kept on replaying in my head.
  5. I want to see Okuma or Pflueger take the spot of shimano.
  6. The curado g is trash.. I think they should stop making it completely and lower the price of the curado e down to 150 or so.
  7. What is "x ship"? I saw that somewhere else too
  8. Thanks for pointing the vid out it really helped. The hook wasn't standing up for me at first but now I know how. I will give dropshots another shot
  9. That's kind of ridiculous.. Not trying to Hijack the thread but does culling harm the populations of fish somehow?
  10. Glenn, will you post the videos of your interviews somewhere? Do you have a youtube channel or something?
  11. check this out. (its a post I found on TT forums): "I cornered a Shimano factory rep at a local show last weekend. He offered the following to me with no hesitation: The new Chronarch line will be unveiled at iCast in July. They will be based on the current 2013 JDM-only Metanium line. Sweet reels. Sizes 50 and 150. Pricing in the upper 200's range. The will hit stores in August. $279.99? He could not confirm if all gear ratios will be coming for both left and right, but the current Chronarch line gives love to the lefties, so I'd imagine it will be the same deal here. The rep also told me the Core line will not exist as a result of the up-market move of the Chronarch line. I'm assuming this means magnesium like the Metanium? Stupid of me not to ask the question." Also this: "The rep that told me the Core would be discontinued offered it up with no prompting on my part. I simply asked him when the Metanium line was coming to the US, and he told me it would be the 2014 Chronarch line debuting at ICast, and immediately said the Core was being discontinued as it wouldn't sell given the price discount the new Chronarch line would represent compared to it. It makes sense to me, as would a replacement for the Core line further upmarket into the $400+ range." So basically cores are going to be discontinued and so are the chronarch e's.. should be some good sales on those soon! Also, there may be a new core reel next year.
  12. That's pretty interesting stuff. I'm really excited Oh, and check this out. (its a post I found on TT forums): "I cornered a Shimano factory rep at a local show last weekend. 13. for around $100, I would get a h20 mettle baitcast reel and a h20 ethos cranking rod 7' M power F action. I think its $115 for the combo and for line I would go with 12-14 lb stren or Berkley tri-lene mono. This reel is easy to learn how to use and casts great. It also has a lifetime warranty. The only downside is you have to buy it at Academy sports which may not be in your area. Hope this helps!
  14. Can you go into a little more detail for me about the braking system? I have never owned a revo mgx or premier so I can't get really picture what you're talking about. Thanks
  15. They were brand new, never taken out of box apparently.
  16. Darn it! the guy said someone jumped on the deal within 2 hours of putting it on craigslist..
  17. Hahaha . I'll call the guy and see if he still has em!
  18. WOW! I should probably jump on this deal!
  19. I found a guy who is selling 2 curado dhsv. He says they are brand new, in box and they are $50 each. Should I buy them? Also, I don't know a lot about the older shimanos, what does the "dhsv" mean? Were the "d" series a good series of shimano? ( im guessing d is separate from the hsv and d is the series it is)
  20. It only happened once so it's not a problem. I like the idea though and if I have start having this problem more often I will use spoons.
  21. The sandpaper like teeth are used to grip the scales of other fish and prey. In some lakes/ponds where there isn't as much bream, the bass' teeth don't get worn down as much and they can be sharp. I remember catching a bass a while ago that had a few teeth that stuck out further than other bass' and those teeth actually cut me pretty deeply. (don't worry, im not complaining lol ) I used to get the "bass thumb" too but I don't seem to get it as bad anymore. My thumb is just smoother after catching a few fish, not really filed down.
  22. I tried out ultralights and they did ok. I caught a few dinks on a weightless worm on 6lb line. I had no luck with the dropshot though.. probably just cause i'm not experienced with it at all.
