Parenting Help/insight
That's great! I'll have to remember that one. OP, have you tried the big brother approach? ie: hes the oldest and biggest, so he has to be strong and tuff to protect and watch over his younger sibling? Its his duty to be a big boy and not be scared so his little brother knows hes safe? LC

Which Of These Rods Would Be The Best?
In the walmarts around me the shocks are the same price as the regular lightning rods. $40. The shocks are a bit beefier. Made for superlines (braid) and have a strike amplifying tip, which is supposed to help with hook sets. The reel seat is also raised off the blank. LC

Am I Damaging My Reel?
Very helpful info. I will make sure I do this with every lure change. I've been doing it, but the lews manual recommends that the spool make one revolution after the lure hits the ground. I get pretty decent casts with most weights, and my magnetic brake is rarely past 2, but I still get backlash occasionally. Havent quite gotten the hang of it to eliminate it all together. LC

Am I Damaging My Reel?
I kinda figured that was the case. I try not to do it often. Gotta learn how to stop it with my thumb. LC

Am I Damaging My Reel?
Occasionally when throwing buzz baits or when I want to burn a spinnerbait close to the surface, I will begin cranking my reel just before the lure hits the surface of the water. Sometimes my baitcaster objects to this by clicking quite loudly and making lots of noise. Basically, Im engaging the reel while the spool is still spinning. Is this causing damage to the reel? LC

Big Bites Krieture?
Caught my personal best on a texas rigged 6" black neon kreature. The only thing im not liking so far is they're not very durable. Every one I've had a fish in has been bitten in half. LC

Another Bait Monkey Victim
very nice! The bait monkey seems rabid lately. What are the specs on the *** rod? Casting or spinning? Is it your first? LC

For Those Of Us That Fish A Senko Worm
I've seen o-rings mentioned a lot with senkos since I started coming to this site, but still dont get it. Especially with the mention of the ring getting in the way of the barb on the hook. Can someone post a pic of what youre doing with the o-ring? Im guessing just wrapping it around the worm then putting the hook through the ring? LC

M Or Mh For Finesse Spinning Application
thanks for all the replies folks. I think I'll go with the majority here and get a 6'6" or 7' M action. Probably going to go with the lightning rod. The *** black looks very intriguing, but im gonns need a rod for my Lews touney pro when I get it so I think I'll get the *** then. LC

M Or Mh For Finesse Spinning Application
I have been thinking about the black *** rod based on all the rave reviews it gets on this site. Id like to find somewhere local that carries it though. the closest cabelas is over an hour away and BPS is 6 hours away. Im not sure if Gander Mountain carries them or not. LC

M Or Mh For Finesse Spinning Application
Not necessarily a budget issue, but a brand loyalty issue. Im pretty set on the Berkley Lightning Rods due to past experience. I know they're sensitive, light weight, and strong. The $40 price tag is a bonus. Im just not sure if I should be getting a MH or M action for finesse plastics fishing. I think Im going to stick with 7', perhaps 6'6" if that is better. A BPS carbonlite is also in the back of my head, but I REALLY like my berkleys. LC

M Or Mh For Finesse Spinning Application
Right now most of my bass fishing is done with a 7' mh berkley lightning rod shock series with a Lews Tournament MG and powerpro 30#. I threw some braid on my spinning rig to try and learn some finesse techniques, and that's what I caught my PB on with a texas rig. The reel is a mitchell 300xe and the rod is a 6'6" ugly stick in medium power. The ugly stick tip is just way too "mushy" feeling and definitely not sensitive enough, which is why I want a new rod. So, I already have a MH on my baitcaster I can reserve for heavier stuff, so im looking for a new rod for my spinning reel for the lighter finesse jobs. LC

M Or Mh For Finesse Spinning Application
7' is the max I can currently go in my car. Until I get a truck anyways. Ive only tried the crig once. It was on 30# powerpro with a berkley vanish 17# fleuro leader, weight is unknown. I was using my berkley shock series casting rod in 7' mh action. There was a lot of vegitation. Perhaps I just wasnt fishing it right. I plan to read up on it and try again. LC

M Or Mh For Finesse Spinning Application
I dont know honestly. It was the lightest of 3 sizes that came in a "carolina rig kit" by eagle claw I got at walmart. Its substantially heavier than my 1/4 ounce bullet weights. LC

M Or Mh For Finesse Spinning Application
Ive fished the t-rig on my lews successfully. I tried the carolina rig, and really couldnt get a feel for it. All I could feel was the big heavy weight on my line. If I got any hits, they were unknown to me. when I fish the t-rig, its usually with a 1/4 or 1/8 ounce weight. Dont know if that makes a difference or not in the selection. LC

M Or Mh For Finesse Spinning Application
Looking for reccomendations for a worm rod I plan to use for texas rig, drop shot, possibly carolina rig and weightless wacky rig. Im pretty set on Berkley lightning rod shock series, but not sure what to go with for the power. I plan on using power pro 30# braid with a fleuro leader. LC

New Bag Holds Extra Box, What Box Should I Buy???
I don't keep mine in the bag. The worm binder has a large loop on it as well as the tackle bag. I use a carabiner to hook mine to the bag for easy transport and removal. Be sure to get one or two sizes bigger of worm binder than you think you need. they fill up fast, especially when the bait monkey notices a sale on plastics! LC
