  10. I was bored this evening so I looked into some cheap electronics. My dad has a small coleman crawdad and we use an old bottomline fishin buddy 2 Then I saw hummin bird has a couple "fishin buddy"s and the two lowest models seem almost exactly the same as this old bottomline except for the buttons. The imaging quality is almost identical. Has there really been no improvement in technology on this front, or is bottomline/hummbird intentionally keeping the quality low to encourage people to buy more expensive units? example:
  11. I'd like to keep the combo under 150 for rod reel. Still gotta tack on line, terminal tackle, reel grips etc...
  12. Anyone have any info on the quality of this rod? I'm working on putting together a pitching/punching set for my dad for christmas so I need to keep the price of the combo fairly low. My dad is a veteran and I think he would appreciate the rod and it's american flag logo. I'd like to get red white and blue reel grips for the lews speed spool I will pair with it. Or do you think I should spend the extra 10 bucks for the Laser SL speed stick (dad's favorite color is bright red...) which seems to be slightly better quality? Opinions appreciated (especially from dads/vets)
  13. "looking for man muffs" omg...
  14. I would like to say I fit all 13. But I think everyone can think of examples where they match all those things.
  15. As I said before, have ya'll seen some peoples yards or went house hunting in some less than savory neighborhoods? It's just second nature, people don't even think they are doing anything that could harm others or the environment.

  17. As some of you may know, I'm working on creating a couple of punch/flipping set ups for my father and I this christmas. Was at cabelas last night and checked out these reels (and some rods). I've been turning into a Daiwa fan recently and I like the style and ergonomics of the Lexa. However the accurist has the flipping switch and is a bit cheaper. Looking at tackle tour, the lexa100 appears to have the stronger drag system (TT's accurist review dates back to '05 I believe) and this still appears to be the case. The flipping switch may be easier for my dad to use, but when pulling bass out of watershield I'd rather not have the drag slip. We don't have the thick gardens of Florida or Cali delta, but watershield can tangle up easier than lily pads. What are ya'lls thoughts? How much of an advantage is it to match rod and reel combos? I was previously interested in the Lexa rod for punching, and now after seeing the reel, I wonder how good the combo could be rather than mix and matching.
  18. What products should.i check out? anyone want me to check anything out for em (as in preview not buy it for you!). wanted to look at some medium heavy and heavy rods. any to look at that you all would suggest?
  19. 1. Iffy reviews about their durability 2. Walmart stocking practices I'm just saying you should thoroughly check the rod to make sure it will flex some without breaking, not just giving it a visual inspection. I wiggled a medium action one and it snapped about 4 inches from tip. Was it wright and mcgills fault, or was it thrown around and weakened? Maybe a mix of both.
  20. Has anyone tried this braid? just saw that ish monroe swears by it and its pretty new stuff. I am considering pline and samurai braids but only have experience with power pro.
  21. i broke one of them at walmart the other night...good luck
