  1. havent used it a lot but it has great action.
  2. low rod means they cant jump well. high rod equals large jump and headshake and bye bye hook.
  3. mustad denny brauer straight shank 4/0 with snell is amazing. bass get hooked in the meaty upper mouth almost every time and they dont straighten out. have to punch the hooks out so you lnow the bass wont shake off. No sense in using ewg as it was designed to make room for bulkier baits to slide out of way on hooksets...whic h isnt a problem with straight shanks.
  4. It can suck but i get out in the evenings ocassionaly.
  5. With upcoming fall/winter sales I wanted to look into getting a new combo for punching and flipping. Im currently using a 7' mh daiwa team d w/ lews mg speed spool. This combo gives a little much and Id rather have a swimjig on it. The cover i punch doesnt need more than 1oz tungsten and im not interested in rods over 7'6" as they wont fit inside truck. Max id be willing to pay is $200 (unless i get a nice holiday deal) Any suggestions would be appreciated
  6. two lives ruined...for plastic worms... someone here in town was beaten in broad daylight while in his yard by two fellows, one with a metal pipe... you need to be careful when confronting people...they are often not in the right state of mind and could cost you your life.
  7. these your only options? what are you buying them for? what length and action? plenty of good rods on tw for similar price range. *** also has customer reviews of those rods i believe.
  8. get the basics. dont buy the eye candy. the bass are gonna catch a flash of the lure...no time to admire the mona lisa of fishin lures.
  9. listed by financial expenditure 1. Tackle warehouse 2. Mountaineer gun sales (mom n pop) 3. Cabelas 4. Dicks 5. Walmart 6. Seibert
  10. outdoor channel sucks now. unwatchable. Bunch of hot heads getting raging hard ons when they kill a deer. nbcsports has a few quality fishin shows.
  11. black...creates best profile in all conditions. clear has also been one of my best topwater colors.
  12. if im using trigged plastic and fail to set the hook, i can often cast back to same spot and get another hit. to them the soft tasty morsel escaped.
  13. or maybe they think its fun and enjoy the attention of being caught......
  14. revenge imo
  15. works for me. put s the bait quietly in the water right where the fish are.
  16. went to a local lake chalk full of watershield and was delighted to see it was still alive. got to try out my punching setup. mustad straight shank flkpping hook with super bug colored d bombs on 30 pound braid and a medium heavy rod. third flip if the day and bam hauled out a two pounder. 5th flip...bam another. Then a tornado warning storm hit and had to seek shelter. caught 3 more after the storm. absolutely a blast! wish i had 65 pound braid and maybe a heavy action 7'6 rod. all bass i caught were around 2 pound but ill take it. Something I learned was it is critical to look for oddities in the watershield fields. a small ditch running into a small cove yielded two....a 10x5 open hole in the middle of the field yielded 3 plus numerous misses. Looked like a depression of silt to deep for watershield where another ditch ran through...each end of hole following ditch yheld bass. Sometimes focusing on the vastness of the field can be daunting, gotta break it down and focus in the areas that stand out.
  17. its the fluoro....no need to spend 150$ on a new setup
  18. lol $50 bucks...
  19. everyone WANTS quality...but if I had the choice of fishing for 10+ hours and catching a fiver...or catching 5 ones...id choose the quantity just to have some consistent fun.
  20. Well this morning the weather was warm and i caught a couple bass in 65* water. then storm hit (tornado warning) and didnt get back out till noon. water temps.dropped 5+ degrees. caught 3 more small ones and missed a. ouple more. if weather wiuld have stayed like it was in the morning i would have slayed em.
  21. forecast monday is rain most of day with 10-15 mph winds. lots and lots of timber in lake and tons of shad. had lillypad fields but they may be smaller. will this drop in temp get the shad moving?
  22. So ive got a choice of fishing sunday or monday (two hour trip back home). its been in the 80s last couple days and should be the same tomorrow. On monday its suppose to drop to 70 and rain all day with possible thunderstorms. Am i better off leaving early in the morning and fishing sunday or take a chance that the front hitting stirs up action on the lake on monday?
  23. life and personal introspection mixed with moments of sheer panic and excitement.
  24. just got my order of 11 jigs in yesterday...ordered last saturday. took less than a week. amazing. I ordered a 3/4 oz bluegill swimjig as i wanted an upsized gill that i could put a shell cracker on and swim it through nasty stuff. anyone else ever upsize their swimjigs?
  25. I know a couple posters fish this WV lake...has anyone been there recently? going sunday and would like a report. are the pads still thick...are bass chasing the shad?
