  1. give the bass something they can see. crazier colors may peak bass interest and get them to come over. sometimes they just want shad.
  2. the other day on my smartphone, i scrolled down to bottom on this forum and hit "full version". it was nice and all but the simple version loads faster. how do i go back to simple.version?
  3. How can a bank fisherman read the water temp? sticking your hand in very shallow water isnt very accurate.

  11. Ive been wanting to do some fall night fishing and i know fall is good for topwater...but when night air temps dip, will topwatrr still be effective or should i go with another presentation?
  12. in my experience it doesnt change much. it can turn the bite on as the rain stirs up food sources. topwater isnt a go to rain pattern imo...if its raining hard the bass will have a hard time hearing/seeing the lure!
  13. Anyone do fall night fishing? i went a couple nights ago. ut it was warm. temps suppose to drop off soon.
  14. i left swivel in. didnt want to risk hurting her. ill let nature take its course
  15. So I went to my small local lake tonight (just got back!) to see what I could do there at night. It was a warm day and evening so I was confident fish would be stirring. Saw a couple jump, but couldn't get any hits. I wasn't having any luck with multiple set ups. I was walking back to my truck while fishing with a pop'n image over grassy riprap, when near the shore before pulling it back in, I got shwacked! I wasn't even prepared for it, but whatever had a hold of my lure was trying to get to deeper water, and like mad. I was for sure I had got a hold of a medium sized muskie as the largemouth in that lake don't fight like this! I half heartedly lift this fish out of the water hoping the muskie would pop off and save me the hassle. Well, turns out it was a bass...not just any bass, a large smallie (there was no indication that smallies were in there!). I panic a bit and she still has a lot of fight in her and is thrashing in the air with two sets of trebles in her mouth. Well she pops off and lands on the ground and I put both hands on her (really sloppy and I'm ashamed of such a landing). My estimate (which are fairly accurate) is that she was a 4 pounder and about 20 inch. Unfortunately, my camera phone freaked out from the bass mucus and water, and it wouldn't let me take a picture. While admiring her, I noticed that from her anus, protruded a swivel! Just above that was a small cut (may have been from rip rap). I've never seen such a thing before. So I ended my night on that catch!
  16. Im used to pitching jigs and trigged creatures. what is best time/ situation to use these? should i go shakey head or trig?
  17. picasso are supposedly nice
  18. if im fishing timber i reel down and set at about 1 pretty hard to get them over the cover
  19. topwater fishing always trumps all. bass exploding on a bait is a rush. the trick is to get the bites.... I do enjoy flipping though. hitting your target silently and coercing a bass to suck it in is a treat.
  20. I love the wobble. Only fished them a couple times with little success. Haven't given them much of a try though. 1.5 is fairly large. What is the 1 like? Isn't it 1/4 oz? May have to go to mom and pop store and check out their selection of KVDs and try the 1.0 out.

I've caught a couple of them hopping them on the bottom (usually swim up to cover and if no bites I'll drop it down) As for trailer, I don't think bulk is what you want for a swimjig. For pitching sure. But I suppose, some days, the bass may want a slightly beefier look. I'll keep experimenting
  22. i bought soft plastics, punching gear, and a few swim jigs.
