Jigs With Rattles Or Not?
Yes, I'm bumping an old thread, but today I had a somewhat interesting experience. I was fishing rip rap and had my jig with rattle get stuck in the rocks near shore. Couldn't be seen and I couldn't get it out. No fish were around, so I walked up and down the bank trying to find an angle to pop it out...no luck. I go back to right where I snagged and noticed 5 or 6 dinks staring at the rock that was oppressing my jig. I stopped pulling on the jig for a while and the dinks started to swim off. I'd jiggle a little and they were right back to my jig. Now I don't know if it was the rattle or the jig trailer attracting them, but something brought in multiple fish that weren't in the area before. I also had more action with my rattle jigs than non rattles today. Think I'll stick with the noise makers.

Crowded Lake On Labor Day?
I went to a small local lake this morning. 3 guys camped the night fishing for catfish (and left a lot of line in the water) that were still sleeping when I got there. A few others showed up around 8 or 9. One guy with a canoe who I noticed was positioning it in the best cover and fishing outwards to structureless water. He thought about going into the cove I was bank fishing until I winged my frog about 70 yards to the opposite bank.

Swim Jigs
I agree on Revenge bluegill. I ordered a couple shad colors from TW so I'll see how they turn out. They cut through cover well, but are mediocre when flipping (this is where the NS flip and swim comes in). The bass in my little local lake have been shy on the swim jigs/ spinnerbaits, so I've avoided using them. I've just tried the shellcracker with the swimjigs and I honestly am not impressed. The extra bulk makes it harder to get through cover, and the two flapping tails don't seem to show a lot of action on the jig (they are great texas rigged though). I'll probably stick to grubs as trailer.

Possible Bait Monkey Sighting.
the labor day breed of bait monkey has me by the short hairs.

Swim Jig Trailers
ive tried them vert and horizontal. i think the jig skirt messes them up. they do flutter nicely just not all the time, usually have to speed up retrieve to get em goin.

what are they eating?

Swim Jig Trailers
i use twin tail menace. not the best action as the tails seem to impede each other.

Help Me Understand The Difference..
i dont know about ewgs. i prefer offset or straight shank. hard enough getting the bass out, dont want to worry about hookset.

Another Summer Time Bass
1 oz weight for that little cover? Guess it worked for ya. She hit it on the fall, or on bottom, or did you jiggle the beaver before she picked it up.

I Think They Are Hitting The Blades
sounds like the bass are just hitting it in anger not hunger. at least in the last post. try different color skirts and trailers. or go with a swimjig

Old Shallow Lake
lilly pads provide oxygen shade and a harder bottom. not to mention food. you should be fishing them.

Fishing Log
How many of you all keep one of these? Thinking about starting one for myself to help build patterns and to make myself more aware of little factors.

Bass Hierarchy
Every bass for himself. Unless it comes to territory apparently (non schooling). That stickup out there? If there is a big bass on it, he will likely run off smaller bass (whom he'll eat). If you pull a dink off it, you are probably better off moving on (so I've concluded from Roland Martin)

Sold On Swim Jigs!
I like Revenge's bluegill pattern. Bluegill are the main forage in my lakes so I tend to match the hatch. Will probably pick up a couple white/silver ones to see what I can do with 'em.

Help... I Think My Dog Ate A Jig.
that's a pretty big jig. What kind of dog? What trailer were you using? Count up your 7/16 jigs. I'm pretty sure you'd remember if you dropped one or not.

Lews Speed Spool?
My speed spool doesn't seem that secure on my Team Daiwa T rod. Whenever I get a quality fish on, it feels loose like it's going to come off, but it's tightened on there. Any thoughts?
