Honey Hole Problems---What Would You Toss?
Yep...the water around that area despite it's looks is about a ft deep and pretty clear...plenty of bream hanging round.

Best Spinning Rods & Reels $150 or less
Looking to upgrade a bit over my old school do it all Spinning "Ugly Stick" rods. I toss small/medium crank-baits about 40%, spinnerbaits/buzzbaits 30%, and plastics the remainder of the time. I'm blessed to be in a better season of life financially and ready to get more serious about my fishing as well. Here are a few I'm researching & considering: * St. Croix Mojo Bass Casting Rod * Fitzgerald Vursa Series *Fenwick Elite Tech Bass Spin Rod REELS: * Pflueger Summit XT Spinning Reel * Daiwa BG * Pflueger President XT

Honey Hole Problems---What Would You Toss?
Thanks Catt, If you'll look @ the 1st pic to right there is a place about 10 by 10 that is a great spot. Right across the water on the other side is a spot about the same size, maybe a tad smaller. You can also cast from the overpass where the water is spouting out from. It's really kinda limited...there are some other super tight spots, but the local water moccasins are kind of partial to em! ?

Honey Hole Problems---What Would You Toss?
All bank...boats & all flotation devices are banned. Wading is allowed, but there is the possibility of stepping into some 7-35 ft holes...which are supposedly sprinkled about..."where abouts UNKNOWN!" An old codger ?told me yrs ago that his Pa had several wells on this property when he was a lad...they tried to fill them in before the buy out, but invariably left a few open!?? He said son, "You mess around and fall in one them, you'll wake up in eternity?, and yer folks'll never find ya, but you're grown---do what the hell you wanna do...but, I done told cha!"? LOL A word to wise was sufficient for me...in this case!!! hahahahaha Creepy thing was...I turned around after a few cast to ask him a question and he was GONE!! Disappeared like a fart in the wind ?...that was the end of my fishing for the day! Hmm...a got a few ole big Johnson Silver Minnows gathering dust somewhere...hmm...THANKS!

Master Angler White Bass
If I'm not mistaken I used to catch them pretty good on Rooster Tails. Whats some other good lures for nabbing them up?

Honey Hole Problems---What Would You Toss?
Here is one of my favorite spots right behind a condo complex in North Alabama. Used to be a huge Pay Lake when I was a kid. Contractors later filled it in and left about 7 acres of water. One side is a crazy swamp area 4 ft deep..full of bowfin, frogs, logs, vegetation, cottonmouths, beavers, and the occasional swine carcass...BUT some huge bass! I have witnessed a few brave or insane souls actually wade it, only to later rue the day of their birth! ?☠️ Yet, it is a great spot to tangle with some toads...my most productive lures have been spinner-baits/buzz-baits and frogs. Thinking about upgrading to 30 plus lb braid and slinging some flukes, lizards, and swimming some big floating worms. Chime in and let me know what your approach would be to this watery jungle? Thanks, Reg

He has some "issues"?, that I'd rather not be a part of, "flying down the river at 60 mph and over deep water!" ??? Keep em in yer prayers! He's a good dude...just battling some tuff demons in this season of his life...?

Fishing Facts Magazine???
Tell ya what, this whole post has got me tad nostalgia driven. This was an era of fishing print & information that has gone the way of the Dodo bird... Wish my kids & grand-kids had this point of reference like I did...guess its up to me to, "pass it on" before I'm gone.?

Fishing Facts Magazine???
Hey Guys, I grew up reading Sports Afield, Field & Stream, Outdoor Life and later on got hooked on "Fishing Facts". Fishing legends Buck Perry & Spence Petros penned some great articles for them back then. I never see them on magazine racks anymore and can't locate anything online other than pricey older ones sold on EBay. Anybody know what ever happened to this magazine? I actually learned more from this mag than all the others combined. Thanks for your time, Reg BTW...anybody know anything about this forgotten volume of bass lore,"LUNKERS LOVE NIGHTCRAWLERS:Live Bait Bass Fishing Secrets Fishing Facts Magazine?"

Baby Brush Hogs?
Hey Thanks Allen. Let me see what I've got stuffed away and I may be giving you a holler. Pretty sure I could use Chart tails for sure. BTW...what kinda cover are you tossing them into?
-
Baby Brush Hogs?
He didn't "specifically" mention chartreuse dyed tails, BUT some pics of em---ALL the tails look pretty exotic?♂️! LOL I've yet to use any attractants on a lure...although I'm open-minded for sure. Is it that noticeable of a difference? I see I really need to scale back my jig head size... Thanks fer the feedback Sam!

Nikko hellgrammite & Yamamoto Hula Grub Experience?
Howdy Studs, As you can tell, winter fishing fever has hit me hard & heavy! Been chatting with a bud of mine who use to fish pro for a while. He recommended these two lures to add to my bass arsenal: Nikko hellgrammite & Yamamoto Hula Grub. What I'd like to hear is what your various experiences have been using them, what colors are better, rigging, water conditions...etc. He already drilled it in my skull that the, "Nikko hellgrammite" is absolute murder on smallies, monster bream, and some bucket-mouths to boot ,around any rocky structure as well as creek fishing in general. He also says he pulled some huge toads from around beaver dams, lay-downs, and stick-ups tossing the, "Yamamoto Hula Grub". Let me hear from ya! Later Reggie

Baby Brush Hogs?
Alrighty & Congrats! Fish a lot around Elk river, Swan Creek, Tennessee and a bunch creeks & backwaters. I'm originally from Limestone county and knew the water real well...been here in Birmingham for about 13 yrs now and still don't have a good handful of fishing spots!? What size & type jig head or set-up are using on the baby b hogs? Any particular structure you target?

Baby Brush Hogs?
Was looking around on Academy's website this evening. Just picked up some Senko 3 inch/5 inch from Wally World & E-Bay and trying the Yum Dinger 5 inch as well. Decided I try the #297 & #305 colors in the 3 inch & Red shad in 5 inch. On Yum Dinger I'm hoping for decent return on Green Pumpkin/Chartreuse tail. This will be 1st time trying wacky rigging after all these yrs!?

Thanks Bluebasser86! Any particular outlet that has a good selection of colors and so forth that you buy from? How well do they do in the winter?

Baby Brush Hogs?
Hey Studs, Happy New Year to all aboard! Been a while since I checked in, but was finishing up a 30 yr dream of returning to college and I just graduated from UAB Dec 18 with HONORS!!!?? Anyway, a good friend of mine has been blowing my phone up with pics of some fat spotted & large-mouth bass he's been killing a on black & pumpkin-seed baby brush hogs. Been tossing them on 14 lb mono, 1/8 oz bullet lead, 3/0 Eagle Claw EWG worm hook...pitching & swimming em around brush piles, lay-downs, stickups...etc. Mostly 3-4 pounders on an average, although he swears on his pappy's grave he lost a 12 lbs fishing who just flat straightened out the hook!?? I told him, "that was either a catfish bro or the mental residual from yer Flower Child days!" He grudgingly admitted to soaking a few in cheese/blood scent & catching a few whiskered fish for table fare.?? BTW...what has been you guys experience and thoughts concerning, "ye ole baby brush hog?"
