  1. Well mainly Rat-l-traps. I am new to fishing so that is what I have now, but I am looking to build my rod set up and will eventually be throwing a bunch of different crankbaits. An you're saying most crankrods are for open water compared to through weeds like I fish the rat-l-trap?
  2. I'm throwing a bunch of rattle traps ranging from 1/4 to 3/4 of an ounce. And the action is another thing. I have a 6'6" med/heavy fast rod. The BPS one is also fast but I didn't know they are basically moderate action. Thanks
  3. I am looking to add a cranking rod to my collection. I do not use crankbaits that much so I do not want to invest too much money. Anywhere from 50-100 would be good. Also this is just an extra question. I fish a lot by docks so would this type of rod bee good for skipping? People talk about the soft tip needed from skipping. Or would I be better of using my med/heavy fast action rod?
  4. What about a heavy action 12-25lb rod?
  5. I just bought my first baitcaster and am looking to buy some braided line. Any favorite braid suggestions? But my real question is how much does braid color matter?
  6. So if I were to get a medium heavy rod with 10-20 pound line recommended, what strength braid can I use without it damaging the rod?
  7. How far can you go from recommended line ratings on reels? Basically all the reels I am looking at have like 10-15 pound line recommendation. I want to fish heavy cover and need stronger line cause mine keeps snapping in weeds. Cant you go more with braid because of the diameter of the line? Will it be bad for the rod?
  8. When should each leader be used? Like in different situations. And as far as switching leaders go you just have to tie good knots. Any good knots you recommend? Or any other ways to easily switch leaders?
  9. So basically use braid and switch between the two types of leaders?
  10. I am relatively new to fishing and as some questions about the different types of lines. I fish along rocks a lot so which line would be most abrasion resistant? Are there specific advantages of using one over the other? and which types of lines are best for different lure and rod set ups? Any personal preferences?
  11. How about the BPS Pro Qualifier reel?
  12. I have been looking for a new rod or two to buy. I am pretty sure which rod or rods I will get but I am unsure about good gear ratios on my reels for those rods. What are the best gear ratios for different situations? For example crainkbaits, spinnerbaits, worms and other soft plastics?
  13. I am going to buy a a new rod or two shortly. I want to buy a 2 piece for transportation but I know two pieces aren't quite as good. Would I notice a significant difference in sensitivity, casting distance or anything else like that compared to a one piece? Is a one piece particularly better?
  14. How many handles will one thing of U-40 seal?
  15. I have a G Loomis, which I take very good care of but regardless it still gets chips. I would hate to see the handle deteriorate. I also do not want it to happen to my other rods. Does any body know any good seals? or any other ways to preserve it?
  16. I am looking at reels for a baitcasting rod and I do not want to spend hundreds of dollars. I was looking at these two and was wondering if anyone has them and thinks they are good or not. The Cabelas one is on sale so it seems like a good deal. I have had good luck with Shimano spinning reels so I am assuming that this baitcasting one will be good too for the price. Has anybody had good luck with them? I was wondering about the durability of them
  17. I have a g loomis and its incredible but I do not wanna have to pay a few hundred for the rod and another hundred or two for a reel
  18. What makes them so much higher quality? Are the subtle differences that people who fish a ton will notice?
  19. Why is it that individually sold reels are so expensive? I know they are better but why do you never see combos with reels that nice? Is it better to buy a combo or buy the reel separately? Will it make a significant difference?
  20. Looking for a new rod I have come across good deals on cabelas rods. Does any body have any and know if they are good or seem to have major problems?
  21. Would a rod not cast as well if I were to use a lighter lure than recommended?
  22. Yeah thanks. You seemed to get what I was asking more. You have the combination I am aiming for, except I only have the medium spinning rod. I am gonna get a heavier baitcaster around before next spring and then probably a crankbait rod before summer.
