  1. I have had the stainless standard size for about 10 years without any problems except I occasionally have to ratchet up the strap after disconnecting to launch, still worth their weight in gold, no cons that I can think off except maybe cost.......Al
  2. You will be glad you did on stainless and standard
  3. Sorry I made a mistake reading my GPS/depthfinder. Went out on the pontoon boat today and looked at the temp and the reading was 78*, not 70* as I stated yesterday. Sorry for the mistake. The bass will be post spawn as reported by JRCfishing.........Al
  4. I live on Douglas lake but have not fished since March due to medical issues but I did go out in the pontoon boat this afternoon. The lake is about 2-3 feet from full pool and the surface water temp is 70* mid lake around point 8(Dandridge). Bass are probably in all stages now. The water has good color with visibility around 2 feet, again around point 8. The tournament season is in full swing with probably a dozen tournaments on Saturday, a few on Sunday and at least one every night except Sunday night. Have not been on Cherokee recently and never been on Boone. That's all I can tell you........Al
  5. I was stationed in Key West while in the Navy but that was in the late 60's and early 70's. At that time there was not even a small pond that I am aware. If there is a place to bass fish I suspect it would be in the northern keys close to the mainland. BPS has a store on hwy US 1 and they may be able to direct you if no one on here can help. Good luck and enjoy the keys. Beautiful area......Al
  6. Whistle can be attached to key chain..........horn in a can works well also but you must store/find it when needed..........Al
  7. A lot of info so far, some accurate, some questionable. My advice is use any gasoline available but use the octane recommended by Mercury for your engine and add some type of ethanol treatment as prescribed on the container. The fuel lines should be good at this age. Enjoy your boat...........Al
  8. Good advice, I suggest you purchase based on the controls you have currently. About $1k to switch last I checked and all brands are good these days with good maintenance. Do you have spare props and other brand specific parts?........Al
  9. Winner winner chicken dinner. After a good look, joefish is correct. Good eye, joefish
  10. Yes, it will be fine. The synthetic blend of oil is also a mix. I would recommend the Quicksilver syn blend as your regular oil in the future. jmho.
  11. The two plugs you see in the lower unit picture are not the lower unit drains either........The actual drain plug for the lower unit is below the exhaust on the nearly round part on the lower unit. The plug on the right(picture) must be removed to fill/drain, not sure what the purpose of the plug on the left.....Al
  12. I don't want to sound like a smartazz, but did you try your Triton dealer?
  13. Just add the new oil to the tank as needed. No need to drain, no problem........Al
  14. These are the best I have ever used..........Al
  15. I agree the longer shafts do help a great deal in very rough water/heavy wind but they can really get in the way when fishing good/fair conditions, especially if you like to roll cast(underarm swing cast). Can be very hard on your rods. Everything is a trade off. But if you don't tournament fish most are headed home when the wind is 20+mph...........Al
  16. Measure from bow to water and add 15 inches(per BPS). Probably 42-45 inches as WIGuide stated
  17. I keep mine on the motor toter, but I store it in the garage. If I stored it outside I would lower it to a vertical position if cold weather was approaching..........Al PS- I lower it at the ramp to drain before placing it on the motor toter.
  18. Are you speaking of Falls Creek Falls State Park in middle Tennessee? I have never fished the lake but read of TWRA shocking up what would have been a new state record a few years back. Just shows there are some good ole big'ns in there. I would suggest soft plastic Texas rigged. Maybe a crawfish type bait. Good luck............Al
  19. I caught bass here in East Tennessee during a tournament that had red eyes. It was not 12 inches long so I could not keep the fish for weigh-in but it was a heavy fish. Was much heavier than a normal largemouth of that length. Looked like a football with fins. A wildlife officer called it a Red Eyed Bass and told me they were rare and normally caught in streams or large creeks.
  20. Concord Park even has a fishing pier with brush piles all around it. Or did the last time I was there and a lot of bank fishing area
  21. For those of you that have a Swivl-Eze transom saver with the 4 rubber pads that contact your motors lower unit and they need replacement. Rather than purchase a new transom saver for $40-$75 here is a link to purchase just the pads for $8 a set. You will not find these at BPS, Cabelas or Gander Mountain. I looked for a long time for someone that stocked them. http://www.iboats.com/Swivl-Eze-Pro-Adjustable-Head-Replacement-Rubber-Shocks/dm/cart_id.055993121--view_id.37843
  22. I suggest adding SeaFoam to new gas and run it again............Al
